What do you like best about the product?
I utilize Lucid Visual Collaboration Suite on my daily activities. Mainly for project management and team touchpoints (timeline, value stream mapping, organization chart, brainstorming activities, etc.). It's a flexible environment, that gives you a several amount of options and layouts (templates are very helpful). The customer support and learning center is always there to help you in your journey. I always use it when I have to define and implement new project activities or new organizations. I really appreciate it for the unmistakable style that allows you to have well organized projects.
Also, the possibility to integrate it with Smartsheet and Excel is a really helpful feature in my daily activities.
I really appreciate also the possibility to export my jobs into PNG or PDF so I can use those in my presentations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is not intuitive and it has few automation possibilities compared to other tools. This of course have an impact on the manual input required.
Also you might face some syncing lag when multiple users are working in the same file.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me on starting the implementation of new projects, where I have to set up the project team (org chart), define the processes (diagramming) and timeline utilizing also whiteboards for brainstorming activities with the team. With the templates I really reduced the time spent to to the kick off of the activities.

Seems crazy, chaotic and disorganized at first - but eventually, becomes a tool for brainstorming

  • July 07, 2025

What do you like best about the product?
Pros:
- The collaboration aspect of the tool - users don't need full license to participate
- Fun aspect for assigning users creative usernames when they don't have a license
- Using the sticky notes and being able to reorganize them
- Templates are great
- Extreme flexibility on formatting so we aren't spending time trying to get a box or image to line up the way we would in a Word or PPT.
- This is a wonderful tool for working in our hybrid/remote world - I was a late adopter to Lucid on my team, however after owning a few lucids of my own to do work and collaborate with team members, it is a great tool for whiteboarding remotely. I have used it to develop processes, get feedback on lessons learned exercises, prioritization exercises, mapping reports/metrics and how they all relate, etc.
What do you dislike about the product?
Cons:
- Overall, perhaps it is the fear? annoyance? of another new tool we have to learn how to use effectively. Sharing a Lucid with new users who we need to participate and click through is also a challenge as we need to explain all the nuances (e.g., use the right click to move around the board, if you scroll with your mouse it will zoom in and out not move you up or down, etc.).
- Having to use the right click to move things around is not intuitive to me
- As a heavy Excel / PPT user, the haphazard way things can be placed in the tool at first gave me a lot of anxiety and I hated using Lucid but most of my team uses Lucid for most things. It seemed highly disorganized. I love colors but there were so many color options it was hard to know where to focus when I opened up a Lucid.
- Clicking into the boxes to edit isn't as easy - when you first click in everything highlights in the box and you need to click again to edit where you want
- If I have two boxes one on top of the other, and my typing in the box above is long, it begins to overlap the box below rather than having the box below adjust and move down to prevent the overlap. This causes a lot of wasted time spent moving and reorganizing boxes so we can see everything.
- Our team uses a lot of arrows in Lucid. While I like that they automatically curve to be as visually appealing and easy to see as possible, getting the click right to create and link the arrow to another box takes a little bit of time to catch on with that specific click over the purple circle. This may just be how we use the tool as well, but the arrows can get overwhelming because some of our Lucids have so many of them. If I was doing this in Excel or other table format like in PowerPoint, I could have neat boxes that are all in order. Again, as a fairly new user and "late adopter" to Lucid on my team, I see the value of having all of the flexibility in Lucid to move things around and then reorganize because brainstorming doesn't go in sequence.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Highly collaborative tool so we can work together even when not in the same room.
