Smartsheet for a Novice Project Manager
What do you like best about the product?
You can customize a lot of features based on preferences. It is visually pleasing and a great way to digest a multitude of data. There are a lot of educational materials to help you learn all of the functionalities. It seems like the uses are never ending. I like that you can assign things to others, as well as automate reminders. I also like the AI function that helps with formulas, it is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be compliacated to learn because there are so many features. It can be dauting to know where to begin, or what to learn first. If I used it more frequently, I know my comfortability would increase.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps teams stay on the same page in regards to different projects and tasks. It is beneficial to have a shared space to visually see progress as well the breakdown of who does what and when things are due. This is beneficial to me, because Smartsheet helps me manage many moving pieces all at once.
Simple, user friendly, and concise application
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is simple to use and manage, it provides various functions to automate tasks, schedule deliverables, and ensure information are recorded and tracked by users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Data entry for invoices are still manual, I hope these can be done automatically by uploading invoices to Smartsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use smartsheet to track invoices and pay them, it helps us track these invoices, track the approval process and record it for audit purposes.

What do you like best about the product?
There are a number of things I enjoy about Smartsheet. First and foremost, it is so easy to use across the business. I utterly loathe editing in shared Microsoft Excel spreadsheets, and my job doesn't use Google Sheets, but all this is irrelevant because we have Smartsheet. It's easy to grant access within the organization, to see who has access, and then to simply send them the link.
My second favorite feature is the Dashboard functionality. My job involves a lot of data entry and reporting - I can set up a template for each project, and using the Summary functionality, my progress on each progress is automatically rolled up into a report for my supervisors to check in on. And going one step further, I can easily turn these reports into impressive visualizations using Dashboards. They're very easy to use and implement. Without any formal training I've become somewhat of a go-to "Dashboard guy" in my organization over the past year. I've created at least ten different dashboards to track our progress on various projects, and I appreciate how Smartsheet has prompted me to think more visually and high-level when reporting on data.

What do you dislike about the product?
There are few quirks of Smartsheet that I dislike that I've mostly learned to live with. It's nothing world-breaking, but when I'm using Smartsheet basically 75% of any workday, they become minor annoyances. Small things like I can't delete more than 5 columns at a time, I can't paste more than 500 rows at a time, things like that. And while I love the Dashboard functionality I wish there were a few extra options for charts to create. The positives far outweigh the benefits, though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me keep a number of stakeholders and supervisors, from my assistant director to our vice president all the way up to our CEO, aware of the status of our marketing and data entry projects. How many leads are coming in? When are they processed? Everything can be easily found in Smartsheet via Dashboards, or drilling down further into reports for those who want additional information.
Building forms to track production and scrap in a manufacturing context.
What do you like best about the product?
The forms are what I use most and one of the many places I see Smartsheets excel. The ability to have advanced Logic in the forms is cructial to allowing a form to be easily understood and used by a variety of people. I am able to have our production workers select what project they worked on for the day and it will only show them the items that were part of the project to record builds and any scrapped pieces.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest feature that Smartsheet lacks that I wish it had is a coding based interface similar to that of Google App Script. Once I have all the manufacturing data I would like to be able to run it through a script that will let it reformat, sum and organize in a way that our supervising team.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Allowing a simple user interface to allow our production team to record there production for the day.
Usefulness
What do you like best about the product?
I find smartsheet very useful to manage projects and keep a track of the progress each person has made on our team. I also find it useful to review and add comments to projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the application of formulas were more automated, for example if you select completed on a project, it doesn't sometimes automatically turn green.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
To keep a track of all projects on our team.
Smart sheet has been a great tool for PM.
What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to use once you learn how. It is a place of "truth". It helps with resource management, finance management.
What do you dislike about the product?
When someone is double book it show this but no real detail is given. Would like to be able to click on the "redman" and go straight tothe double booking.

It allows everyone in the company to see who has who scheduled where and for how long.
Easy to Use Tool
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is easy to use and get accustomed to. I started using it about two years ago after joining my current organization and have been impressed by its capabilities. As someone who isn’t particularly tech-savvy or experienced with similar tools, I found the transition to Smartsheet to be smooth and straightforward. We've been able to streamline several internal processes by using it compared to other tools. I’m often pleasantly surprised by the additional features and offerings Smartsheet continues to introduce.
What do you dislike about the product?
While this is also a positive, I wish I were more aware of all the features the tool provides. Part of this is on me, as I could take more time to explore and learn about them on my own.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps me to collaborate with other team members fairly seamlessly and get up to date, accurate information quickly as far as project updates and status.
My experience with Smartsheet is really good. I love to use this product to do my job.

unclear user manual, lack of proper introduction to all its possibilities

greater transparency of processes and what the current workload looks like, general ordering and the possibility of time planning
