Great for internal communication

What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about this software is the ability to easily set up channels, chats, and toggle between different slacks for different companies. Awesome product. It integrates well with other apps like Google Drive. It helps with organizing information. It can have multiple conversations going on. Mobile app. Notifications.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don't like that Slack allows businesses to see their employees' messaging. I don't think this is clearly communicated when you sign up as an employee and feels like a breach of privacy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use slack daily and have just implemented a number of API's in my chats based on a recommendation from the "slack-bot." I am on slack constantly and have never had a complaint. The integrated functions, message broadcasting, online meeting, news update, interacting with students, etc, really diverse and almost meets every aspect of our department's requirement.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's been mostly good. The sign-in process can be complicated on multiple devices with multiple servers but that doesn't need to be done often.

What do you like best about the product?
Asana is a key part of our business. Specifically for the Creative and Marketing teams, Asana is a vital part of how we are able to keep track of our day-to-day tasks. As a project management tool its essential to give full viability to the entire team, maintain accountability through the use of due dates and ensure all corners of a project are covered.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is nothing I strongly dislike about Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asana allows us to project manager complex tasks like email marketing and paid social flights.

    Internet

One of my favorite project management platforms

What do you like best about the product?
The interface and overall user-experience. They recently updated their application to allow for toggling between List and Board view. Before, you had to choose and commit to the type of view you wish to go with. I personally like the Board and Timeline view best. You can also create subtasks so it is not cluttered. There's also an inbox that contains all updates that are relevant to you (whether you're assigned a task or are following it), which is great for people who don't like receiving email notifications
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't like Asana's philosophy around why they don't offer certain functionality. I have 2 examples.

If you have static assignees for tasks and want to keep those assignees on a template, the tasks will show up in their task list, which is extremely annoying. Asana offered a workaround that virtually did not resolve the problem and despite complaints coming from literally dozens of users, they have shown no indication that they will simply fill the feature gap and prevent templates to show up on task lists. Manually assigning assignees to tasks and subtasks, and then adding each due date manually is honestly so time consuming when your projects have a lot of moving parts.

Asana also doesn't allow multiple assignees to 1 task. I can think of many use cases where this would be a good functionality to offer. Again, the community thread requests they include that ability and Asana responded by saying that they intentionally designed it this way so there's no confusion over responsibility. A user summed up my response perfectly: "shouldn't that be left up to the teams to decide?"

Additionally, the notifications settings are not divided up enough. For example, I want to receive notifications for task updates, task completion, comments. I do not want to receive updates when someone likes a task, comment, etc. because I do not care. There are almost 20 things that fall under "Status Updates" and it's a take it or leave it option. To be able to fine-tune what status updates I can receive over email would enable me to turn on my notifications. At this point, I don't bother.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping track of all moving parts in a project. I have visibility over what needs to be done, and I can keep track of all conversations in the app.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Give it a try. There's a lot you can do. And there's also the option to do very little. It has a lot of breadth and improvements are being made on a consistent basis. They have enough funding to continue running, and I know it'll only get better with time.

super easy to use, share, and comment on projects. Great way to keep the team informed.
What do you dislike about the product?

Great task management tool for all areas of the company

  • October 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is very easy to learn and use. It is elegantly simple and easily meshes into our existing business processes. It makes communication more effective and creates a reference library of activity which we often use to recall current project status, previous projects, client requests, supporting documents and decisions made.
What do you dislike about the product?
It lakes a desktop application and instead is an anchor tenant (tab) in my browser.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project organization. Historical reference. Document repository within the context of the the document's creation.
Faster and more nimble approach to tasks and projects.

    Education Management

Simple, collaborative project management

  • October 03, 2019
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Asana makes it easy to build and update project plans using tasks, subtasks, labels/tags, assignees, and due dates. It is easy to use, integrates with many other platforms, and allows you to easily switch views across list, board, and other types of views.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that it were easier to link Google Drive documents, as it requires several clicks and is a bit time consuming. Additionally, I wish you could easily view or preview PDFs and docs, rather than downloading them or opening in a new window, as this also takes more time. I also wish there were options to allow several people to be assigned to the same task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are managing projects across many collaborators. We use this to define the project, list elements and tasks, assign responsible parties and due dates, and communicate progress/updates.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Asana is easier to use than many other project management products, and it works seamlessly to switch across multiple views. Plus, it is free for small teams to use the core features.
