"# Connecting to Asana's MCP Server

The Asana MCP server is available at:
    <https://mcp.asana.com/sse>

This server requires authentication with your Asana account. When connecting, you will be prompted to authorize the application to access your Asana data.

    🔒 Allowlist

Due to the implementation of an OAuth redirect URI allowlist, some third-party applications might require additional configuration or registration of their redirect URI with Asana Support before a successful connection can be established. If you’re a maintainer of an MCP client, see Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server  for details on how to register.

    Available tools

Asana’s MCP server includes 30+ tools for:

    1. Project tracking and status updates
    2. Task creation and management
    3. User information
    4. Getting updates on Goals
    5. Team organization
    6. Quick Asana object searching via typeahead

    Troubleshooting

    1. If authentication fails, try logging out of your Asana account and logging back in.
If that does not address the issue or you see a ""Client not found"" error, try removing the Asana MCP integration within your client and adding it back.

    2. Ensure your MCP client supports SSE-based servers (not Streamable HTTP)

    3. If you’re still not able to connect or are seeing an invalid_redirect_uri error,
reach out to the maintainer of the tool you're using or see
      Integrating with Asana’s MCP Server

    4. Check that your client can handle OAuth authentication flows

    5. Verify you have the necessary permissions in your Asana workspace

    Requirements

    1. A compatible MCP client (Claude.ai, Cursor, or any application that has implemented an MCP client)
    2. The app named "Asana MCP" is not blocked via Asana app management .
If you're not sure if the app is blocked, try to connect your MCP client to the server and go through the authorization flow. You'll either be able to authorize the app like normal or, if the app is currently blocked, be prompted to send a request for your admin to unblock the app for your domain.

The way they present summary of actions and projects
What do you dislike about the product?
A few basic project management features are not yet present, such as setting the duration of a task and having a “Back” or “Previous” function to undo changes after moving timelines incorrectly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They are very focused on AI functions that we can use to summarise and report on the status of projects.

Tedious to add dates and get everything scheduled out. Would love a date calculator.

Task tracking is easy, everything else feels hard and inaccessible.

What do you like best about the product?
Kanban/having multiple views in general is especially helpful
What do you dislike about the product?
Assigning a task to multiple people creates 2 separate tasks. If we're both assigned, why can't it be one task that either person can check off?

I also don't like that everything is presented as a Task. It's difficult to present ideas, and everything is just tasks in a list. There needs to be better functionality for a document hub, and easier methods to find chats between tasks
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Honestly, not a ton right now. It's been helpful for tracking PO's, but these are messy because everything is a task to be checked off. Comments within tasks feel like they get lost, and documents aren't embedded well that I can view them at a glance. I'm evaluating other software to see what might work better for our needs.
