Automate your patching? Yes please!

What do you like best about the product?
Patching large number of machines automatically, group devices into specific groups for patching rules, block or allow patches, push updates immediately
What do you dislike about the product?
UI takes some learning, there are buttons that you need to know what they do before you click. There is risk of clicking the wrong button and pushing out a patch or an action to all devices in the group unintentionally.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Patching large number of devices, ensuring clients are up to date with patch compliance levels.

Easy patches, great support

What do you like best about the product?
I truly love the fact that for most setups, it's a 'set it and forget it' platform. We typically set up our patches to "Patch All" and do every available update 1 evening a week. It's easy to notify the users of a standard maintenance window, once a week in the evening, and set the expectation that their computers will be updated and perhaps reboot during that time. It's also nice to have the additional feature of the "Worklet", where I can create a basic script that can run either on a schedule or on demand. For example, we've had computers that will lose the sync to their timezone, so having a script that resets and resyncs the Windows time service is super handy. I don't need to touch their machine, I just click into the worklet, add their device, and within 5 minutes they are writing me to say it's all set!

Every time I've had to reach out to Automox support, they have been super helpful. If they can't provide an easy answer, they seem to go the extra mile and find a way to do what I am looking to do. I've been very impressed with the dedication and knowledge they've brought to my support tickets.

As a fully remote company, with users all over the United States, it makes it so easy to ensure that devices stay updated and compliant.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don't have too many complaints about Automox, the only one that really stands out is that it doesn't have an option to force stop some programs if they are running. Snagit and Zoom come to mind. I would like the option to notify the user that the sofware is about to be updated, and they have the option to defer or accept. If accepted (or not acknowledged) within 15 minutes the program is force-closed and updated.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Since we are fully remote, it makes it easy to apply updates and ensure our devices stay compliant. As a HIPAA business associate, we need to complay with fedral regulations and keep our endpoints up to date with the latest patches. We can't do GPO, so Automox is the best choice.

Exceptional Ease of Use

What do you like best about the product?
Personally, I like that the team behind Automox did a great job designing the user interface, it is intuitive and user friendly. You get everything you need for the job without excess interface. This helped several of our team members get a proper understanding of both capabilities and limits.
What do you dislike about the product?
The process of deploying scripts can be improved. At times, tracking progress and status proved challenging for some members of our team. Locating script logs often proved difficult once we had deployed. We figured out ways to work around it. If anything, was a minor concern from the get go.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prior to Automox, we used to spend our time patching servers manually. Now, with the portal configured for automatic patching each month we save time to spend interacting with customers. This has been a game changer for our IT department and our team members are quite relieved with this efficiency.

Configurating Automox took some time to get right according to local needs. Alongside the timezone differences across offices, but once that got sorted our experience has been smooth sailing.

Microsoft releases their patches on the second Tuesday of each month. Thanks to Automox we rapidly install them and keep our servers up to date. Thanks to this service our security profile has improved accross the board.

Automox: Streamlining Endpoint Management

  • February 08, 2025
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the UI & find it to be intuitive in a way that many competitors are not; the agent seems lightweight & fairly responsive. Policies push out consistently as expected, & worklets are powerful & allow us to go beyond standard patch mangement.
What do you dislike about the product?
The remote control tool is one of my only critiques as it's rather slow & feels a bit archaic, does not have file transfer capabilities which is something I leverage often. They seem aware of this shortcoming though and should be addressing it later this year. I'd have liked to see native integrations with all the major cloud providers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We've had issues with other tools being very slow in deploying patches; Automox seems to be strong in this regard which is something we value greatly as it means we can patch critical vulnerabilities in a timely manner, and have trust that critical policies are actually being enforced.

What do you like best about the product?
Covers OS updates for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
Supports third-party application patching.
IT admins can enforce compliance and automate recurring tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
Costs can escalate for larger organizations or as endpoint counts grow.As a cloud-native tool, it requires reliable internet connectivity to operate efficiently.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automated Patch Management
Real-Time Visibility
Policy-Based Automation
Unified management of Windows, macOS, and Linux endpoints

Easy to use and manage.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful thing about Automox the amount of information that is provided to us about the assets and the ease of deploying scripts to many devices at once. One of the upsides to using Automox is the UI/UX, as it is very easy and intuitive to navigate.
What do you dislike about the product?
The least helpful thing about Automox is the limits of the worklet catalog. One of the downsides of using Automox would be that there is a lack of information and tutorials made by third parties.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Automox helps us keep our devices more secure by helping us keep track of the state of each system and patching as needed. When a system configuration is needed to be applied to many hosts, it saves us time by automating and deploying this process very quickly and easily.
