Very good tool for task assignment and tracking
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy tool to use for task assignment and progress tracking. Great Detail/Description/Attachment and Activity sections are convenient for tracking the task process. Whenever there is an update on the task, user/watcher will receive an email instantly, the thread of the activity is easy to read and follow. The search function is a plus too.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes time to set it up and for a new user to get familiarize with the tool. There is no easy way to turn the email notification off, it sends an email for every small change of the task thus jams up the inbox pretty quickly. It doesn't provide a Gantt view of the tasks duration on a timeline.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Assign tasks in BI development, support and ad-hoc activities, JIRA makes it easier for both assigner and assignee by reducing the time and effort spent on the tracking down the changes of tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It takes time to setup at the beginning but is very easy to use once you get familiar with it. It's very useful to track complicated tasks that changes a lot.

What do you like best about the product?
We used Jira at a start up to manage the work cycle between US based sales and management teams and the South American based computer programmers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It worked well...but we spent as much time managing Jira as we spend managing the app. It was efficient if you consider that wasted time was wasted money...but then again, wasted time was spent on Jira too.
I don't know if I'd say that it's a great investment for small projects...but I'm certain that it's exactly what a large project would find as a centerpiece of their efficiently and communications model.

Prioritising app components with development team. It helped with communications...but not sure that the time spent being efficient was all that efficient.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you need this level of communications and efficiency management...otherwise you're wasting time trying to save time.

What do you like best about the product?
Customization required can be done from the GUI without any programming knowledge.
What do you dislike about the product?
JIRA is complex to configure. Can't configure teams using JIRA as compared to Rally. Setting up Iterations seems be an issue for me.

Whatever you want to track, scrum points, bugs, improvements, backlogs, you name it.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface has so many things to do if you don't know the difference between creating a bug and a story (for example) the interface can be a little busy.
Getting team members to use it is not easy. There is a significant amount of upkeep to keep it accurate.

Plugin choices provide a wide range of capabilities including round tripping with visual studio.
What do you dislike about the product?
The ability to include multiple acceptance criterias within a story or story tasks is a serious pain point.

Its a great board for seeing where everyone is at during a sprint

its somewhat cumbersome getting around. Hard to find past sprint info or what is awaiting to be reviewed

What do you like best about the product?
Everything is very simple and clear by which project can be easily managed.

As such everything in Jira is great.I am happy with the product.

We have used it for implementing agile in our project.It is very fruitful.We have successfully deliver project with its help.

Great Product for Project management especially for Agile.
Very functional, but steeper learning curve than competition
What do you like best about the product?
Amount of features and ease of getting started. Learning curve (due to UX) starts once daily tasks start to revolve around the product.
What do you dislike about the product?
Steep learning curve. Our employees seemed skeptical at an early stage due to this, and this was hard to reverse.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We needed a versioning system, along with project management capabilitites.

Do try it out, but be ready to handle the learning curve constructively.

Project collaboration and communication has streamlined. Using JIRA to manage agile projects has led to considerable time saving and productivity improvement

Good thing about Jira is its customizations. The workflow definition is easy to do.

Unability to link the documents and incidents. Reports could be better
