Jira is good verging on great

  • January 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is relatively easy to use once things are setup, but the setup process can be cumbersome. The integration with Salesforce has been great.
What do you dislike about the product?
GitHub support and integration left much to be desired. We tried importing tickets from GitHub and that wasn't as seemless as we had hoped. We wanted our development team to be working primarily out of GitHub having it dynamically update tasks in Jira, but that wasn't the reality. We ended up having to update things in to systems which wasn't ideal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira allows us to work better with our customer support team in communicating progress on tickets they have opened with us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Find out what you really want out of Jira and make sure it can deliver on your expectations.

Nimble & easy to use PM Software

  • January 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like working with the JIRA platform as it has many applications/usages based on how you want to run a project, or whatever you are looking to run. The structure is flexible and so is how many different types of users can interact and use the software.

THe portal works well for developers & designers and even management to track progress and easily create reports of where you are within a particul project.
What do you dislike about the product?
The mobile app is not the greatest, it could be better. Some of the cloud options vs on-site hosting and what plugins available is not fair, I wish the lists and features were the same or closer (be sure to research this before purchasing too).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Management & structure to our organization. Measuring & tracking of our projects/work/accruals/finance. This has led our company in the right director and is much better than previous softwares (active collab, version one)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be careful which version you start with (cloud vs host on site)

Bumpy beginning but once it's setup it's smooth sailing

  • January 17, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We use the cloud based Jira solution and the pricing for the features is phenomenal. Currently we use it to track team projects and it allows us to work effectively as a group.
What do you dislike about the product?
The startup took a bit longer than anticipated with virtually no resources to dedicate, it's not one of those highly intuitive applications but it's pretty robust.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for project management for our agile team. We use the scrum boards to help us stay focused on rolling action items. We use the Kanban boards to have full visibility into upcoming projects. The prebuilt reporting features are very nice to get started quickly. We were able to gain visibility across all the teams and resources to better forecasting and roadmaps.

We depend on this!

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA has really broad capabilities and is super customizable, which means that over time we've been able to build it so it works really well for us. I love the commenting and assigning features - both are really easy to use and help me collaborate well with my team.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's not super easy to backtrack if you accidentally click a ticket through to the next step. I wish there were a back feature that could allow you to undo that - I usually have to just click the ticket all the way through the next steps, hoping to get back to where I was, which doesn't always work. I also find the search functionality pretty frustrating, or maybe the issue is just that optimizing your search is not intuitive. I can rarely find what I'm looking for on the first try. I also wish creating filters were more intuitive and required less specialized training. It should be easy to filter things without spending tons of time learning how to make filters, but it isn't.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA for both project management and bug tracking, as well as tying it in to JIRA Service Desk to track customer issues of all types. I primarily use it as a project management tool.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JIRA has worked much better for us since we created a person whose role is to administrate / manage it for us. Having someone to optimize it, tweak it, and address any issues has been a game changer for us.
