The center for development

  • January 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Everything starts with JIRA. It allows us to plan our development work, track progress, provide status for other teams, and interact with other tools like Confluence and Slack. It's a vital part of our daily routine and how we manage all the moving parts and people in our organization.
What do you dislike about the product?
The user interface could be a bit more intuitive. I think once it's customized it works well but getting to that point can be a pain.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is important for showing our progress to product owners. It's also a great tool for prioritizing work.

I use Jira daily and it has helped me track my work efficiently.

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to track my work and my co-workers' work and progress. It has the ability to add documents to the task description which makes it so much easier. It also lets me track the timeline of the project which in turn helps in determining future estimates.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is not much to dislike but one additional thing I would have loved is desktop notification about updates. I am not fully sure that the feature is there or not though.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I build software applications for my clients. With JIRA I have been able to streamline my work and document every detail efficiently which has made it easier for me to meet deadlines. I have also used it to let my clients see my progress so that they are up to date about where the project is going and an estimate of the deadline.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This software is easy to use and keeps everything at one place. So if you have multiple projects with multiple people working on your project, then this could be the right choice.

What do you like best about the product?
1) Vast suite of features
2) Ability to customize
3) Lightweight
3) Ease of use
4) Support of various Agile processes like Sprint, Kanban
What do you dislike about the product?
Too much features as much that sometimes new comers needs training.

Our complete software development cycles for which we use Agile Sprint model is based on JIRA.
Apart from Sprint planning we actively use JIRA for Bug Tracking, for raising RFCs and inter team collaboration.

JIRA for Debugging

  • January 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very good ability to collaborate with team members. Easy to gain access and share across group. Easy to learn how to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Interface seems very basic to me. Limited colors and interface. Sometimes simpler is better, however, I think the software would be improved with more bells and whistles. I didn't see much more value then bug tracking.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy to share debugging information with team members and keep track of it. Eliminated verbal and email communication on this sort of thing, and allowed it to be recorded in a concise place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you want a robust way to keep track of bugs and share with colleagues, this software will do it.

Omni-Management across All Teams

  • January 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Can manage project management, sales, marketing, and nonlinear teams using one software. Plus, Atlassian continues to evolve and add products to their inventory. They're a stable company with continued growth and promising innovation for the future.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is a large company and inevitably large companies cannot be truly great at everything. Smaller companies may have more functionality and/or a 'sexier' UI, but JIRA allows everyone to prioritize and produce.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Prioritization and team communication cross-channel (remote team). We have recognized bottlenecks in process and procedures that we have alleviated by using JIRA.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Will take time to implement, so be sure you want to use this for a considerable amount of time.

Useful but challenging to set up

  • January 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
There is power in the customization of Jira. It's both a benefit and a potential flaw. It was one of the only tools that we didn't have to mold our process around and we were able to make it behave in ways that support our process.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a steep learning curve and the power of the tool relies on how much you understand about its capabilities. There's a lot of power in the system but you need to spend a lot of time with it to get it set up in a way that supports your process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We started with a team of one and grew to a team of several very rapidly. We needed a way to coordinate our UX and project work to increase our collaboration and understanding of the landscape of work.
