Jira is OK

What do you like best about the product?
It gets the job done. It's easy to learn the basics. It has the ability to scale well if you know how you will approach that when setting it up.
What do you dislike about the product?
The on-line training, and support are of little value. There are so many versions, and customizations that just getting a straight answer on terminology is difficult. Also, the on-line help is of zero help. If you do not have a service plan, you are on your own which is bad because as a contract PM / Agile SM + PO, every company does things differently. Some companies have 1000's of licenses, many groups doing things so differently you could actually ruin other groups' boards...yet no IT support, and you cannot even get an answer from Atlassian on where to find info on the version you are using. Big weakness.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Delivering data integrity, and workflow automations. Creating self service portals. Using Agile enabled new teams to get up and running very quickly but with limitations due to lack of training materials.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Price out the support options and include some training classes as part of your strategy. You need at least one person who has advanced training so they can set up, share the knowledge, maximize the benefits and ROI, etc

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use. Easy to add people. Reasonable lifecycle model. Can be customized.
What do you dislike about the product?

Issue tracking workflow

  • January 22, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Customised workflow provided by JIRA makes it well suitable for most of the business models. Base on the workflow of the company we can customise JIRA from header colour and logo to the adding extra processes to create our own flow.
It also provides JQL(JIRA Query Language) and other type of filters using which we can generate reports with different types of charts.
What do you dislike about the product?
More customisation feature sometimes make the process tedious. It wont log the time spent on the ticket by developer by considering the the process change state.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA for project management, bug tracking, feature development tracking, suggestion on feature or bugs using comments.
It make it easy to know the progress on the developments. It also notifies on any change the ticket which you are involved in real time, which helps the issue to be addressed on any change (if required) suggested.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
More Customisation is required so that it can be suitable for all kind of workflow.
And consider the performance.

JIRA: You can't run lean without it

  • January 21, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA is my go to tool for tracking, planning, running reviews, and more. As a designer I work with teams that are often remote, so having one place to store comps, document back and fourth conversations, and track projects as they move through the development cycle is key. It's way more than just a digital kanban board.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it's a little clunky UI wise, and not always intuitive, but I find whatever functionality I'm looking for normally is there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Organizing remote teams. Making sure projects stay on track and have the right stakeholder looped in. Manage and organize reviews at various points throughout the development cycle.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need a robust established tool, JIRA is the way to go.
