Complete project managing software
What do you like best about the product?
I started using it as a ticketing tool to manage open issues and create new developments but soon realized that's only a part of Jira: it allows you doing everything you need for managing your projects, organizing your team, controlling time spent and contacting clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
If I had to say one bad thing, probably princing could be better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira is specially important as a ticket tool but as I said before I think it is fantastic for all the tasks related to project management and everyone involved in that kind of projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ask for advice to people who have tried it first to get you introduced to it.

Great tool for Project Management in Agile Environment
What do you like best about the product?
Jira is very user friendly tool that is easy to navigate. It makes the process of project management, issue tracking & reports very simple. I like the easy customization feature based on the projects. Jira also has a great support community. I also like the integration of Jira with confluence and other Atlassian tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you are working on too many tasks and sub tasks, it gets difficult to find the tickets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using it for project management purpose in most of the agile projects. All the requirements are being captured in Jira as story boards, issues are being tracked in Jira as well. We are also using it to create reports.
Good
What do you like best about the product?
Familiarity - been using it for years, relatively intuitive and easy to use
What do you dislike about the product?
Some annoying workflows, unexpected behaviors that often turn into exclamations such as "oh!.. jira!"
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Scrum development
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Despite occasional issues, it is a good tool
All workflows, all day.
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it's easy to pull filters of tickets and it's easy to get the information you need. It's easy to use in an organization to make sure all tasks stay accounted for.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there was more customizability. We keep going to our JIRA guy with requests that would make it easier and he says that there's no plugin or any way that could help us do that.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Using jira helps make sure that tasks don't fall through the cracks thinking that someone else is doing them, having the assignee makes sure that at any point one person is the contact for whatever the ticket is regarding.
Strong issue tracker for team communication
What do you like best about the product?
Jira can be configured with workflows to ensure tickets get to the right resource in a timely fashion. The "@' notation in comments makes it very easy to target comments to the right users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Standard reports are not very good for a Kanban project. The out-of-the-box email notification settings are atrocious; it spams you terribly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to track the lifecycle of issues and use Jira to monitor workload and efficiency. Team communication is fostered with the "@" comment tags.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Decide early on if your project is Scrum or Kanban. This decision will drive how you use the tool and how you configure it.
JIRA allows me to get the work done
What do you like best about the product?
My favorite part of JIRA is that we are able to easily see and manage the work
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish that it would intergrate better with JAMA and Enterprise Tester. We use JAMA for our requirements, but it is not easy to find the relation. We use Enterprise Tester, and it does sync with JIRA, but it is still not as easy as I would like to find the related test cases to the JIRA.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to be notified nearly instantly when there is a question about the work, or whether the status has been changed.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use with an Agile style of work
Efficient way to manage, distribute and track the tasks
What do you like best about the product?
Very easy to manage and keep track all the tasks you have
What do you dislike about the product?
some times you get lost when you put too many tasks in backlog
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software development issues. Very organized way of keep tracking your tasks.
Jira is a very flexible tool to link HD issues to product defects and corrective action plans
What do you like best about the product?
I love the reporting and the ability to show how it will integrate with other SaaS tools like ZenDesk. Jira also becomes the single version of the truth and allows for us to show how many instances of the same issue are tied to a known product defect.
What do you dislike about the product?
At times it can be difficult to find a specific issue if you don't know the exact unique identifier. The Card/Kanban view seems clumsy and not as flexible or usable as other tools available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira is connected to our Customer Care Help desk tool (ZenDesk), and is the tool we use to plan for the priority of the known issues. We also use it to track the progress of addressing known issues and have the ability to customize the reporting to show the impact of an issue
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would make sure that you get involved early with setting up the structure to make sure that it can accomdate your user groups needs.
