JIRA Review from a software engineer
What do you like best about the product?
Lightweight, fairly intuitive, easy to use for scrum teams. Can quickly make templates for tasks and easily make swim lanes to keep track of what's in progress. Enjoy using it during stand ups. The reports produced for sprints are pretty helpful and great for team retrospectives.
What do you dislike about the product?
Customizing boards is a bit tedious. Would be nice if there was a feature to automatically open and close sprints if you have your development schedule set.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for scrum and agile development teams.
JIRA for QA testers
What do you like best about the product?
This software is very user-friendly and is a great tool to connect testers with developers and designers throughout the production process. The interface is clear and can be designed and adapted from project to project, so everyone completes the same fields. It allows screenshot and video updates which do not require a lot of time to download. Also, access to the project is granted only to the people working on it, therefore, security to avoid any leaks is a big advantage.
Another good part of this software is the possibility of duplicate bug reports, saving a lot of time to report several similar issues. The user can also link different reports to give more context to the developer and the designer in order to fix the issue.
Finally, it allows everyone involved in the project to make comments that might help the fixing chain when dealing with each report.

What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, the searching tool can be complicated to use. When looking for a specific report, it might be difficult to find it unless you have the report number. Also, fields from some reports might be changed by mistake, as once you change something, it will automatically save without clicking any button.
Everyone involved in a project has access to the reports and everyone can change what anoother person submitted without any kind of authorization.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have used this database in different companies to report Quality Assurance issues for certain products, so the developers could change them before releasing the final application to the public.
Great software of issue tracking and agile team management
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to create different Boards that aligns perfectly with agile workflows - gives flexibility in working with different teams that operate in different agile methodologies. In addition, JIRA is well integrated with other platforms and we are using these integration's - slack, email, confluence. This has resulted in better optimized and automated workflows in multiple places.
What do you dislike about the product?
While macros are a good idea there is no easy way to figure how to use them. Often my comments show up mis-formatted as macros play some magic in the background. Other big problem is Atlassian's misinformed downtimes. I'd prefer this application to be available ~99.99%. However, twice we have had >12 hour downtimes in the middle of the work weeks. The reports can also use some improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Agile project management - we operate in small squads that have independent release cycles and work in different modes - kanban, planned sprints, etc. JIRA has made it easy to work in this mode and overall project management.
Been able to spend more time managing and communicating with the team as opposed to spending time in tool administration. Automated workflows helps with focusing energy where it matters.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Great SaaS product to manage your Agile workflows and product management workflows.
Also consider uptime - if you are using this product to manage business critical workflows, build in support SLA's into your contract.
Lastly, look at your entire tech stack and see if JIRA has native integration's with other technologies in your stack. Having native integrations makes the process of activating/ deactivating those integrations much easier.

Jira is really a weird combo of bare bones simple plus some complicated confusing things. Look at the features. Pair with another program for keeping track of richer data.
