Complete project management solution
What do you like best about the product?
Ability to easily create workflows, customize screens, and track work down to a granular detail. There is also great agile project management capabilities where you can create releases, do sprint planning, and enter effort estimations.
What do you dislike about the product?
The licensing structure where it doubles at each level. No way to purchase just the exact licenses you need.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We did not have a central place to track on-going work. JIRA was the product that we chose to manage our work as it allowed us to communicate and track everything in one central area.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Know that JIRA is relatively cheap to start, but the cost can grow quickly, especially if you purchase add-ons as the number of licenses for the add-ons have to be the same as the base JIRA license count.
Easy to use and reliable
What do you like best about the product?
Support most browsers as front end. Users can reply emails directly without logging in.
What do you dislike about the product?
not very flexible to run queries on the database
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Use by all IT Support services and CAB management
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are using it as on demand, make sure Single sign on is working in your environment.
JIRA at work
What do you like best about the product?
Like the customizability, sprints, epics, tracking states of tickets and stories.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be slow to load and filter at times.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Manage our AGILE workflow for engineering - tracking development, QA, features, bugs and such.
Fully featured and exactly what you would want
What do you like best about the product?
I like that it automatically keeps track of the project updates especially if you are using BitBucket with it.
What do you dislike about the product?
I guess the design and all because it's too simple for my taste because for Project Management; You would want to see all the key details of the progress of Project but overall I would recommend it
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us keep track of updates together with our suite of tools for project management
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a very OC kind of person and want to see that everything is done correctly then I would recommend that you use JIRA
Great tool for agile teams
What do you like best about the product?
As a Quality Engineer I love how easy JIRA makes it to log and track not only bugs but also Epics, Stories and features. It is very easy to keep up to date on the status of all tickets, track history and comments along with easy to capture data. I also really love how easy it is to track metrics and customize dashboards. I was able to easily set up my own personal dashboard to track bug metrics, time left in the sprint, scope change on my teams and kanbon boards for my teams.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only things that I don't like very much about JIRA are more related to our network than to JIRA itself. Sometimes we run into lag issues at my office, but they normally don't last very long and it seems to be related to how many tickets/people are in use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using JIRA as a complete agile tracking took for: Bugs, Epics, Stories, Features, Tasks and Requests. I am also personally using it heavily for metrics tracking for bugs and development issues.
Jira
What do you like best about the product?
It's link capability and the import export functions
What do you dislike about the product?
The page load times although that's more to do with out installation I imagine
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Track and trace of everything is in Jira, nothing gets done without a Jira ticket
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Well worth the trial

Jira
What do you like best about the product?
Configurability, ease of use, permissions sets. Integration with build tools, test reporting, and all-round workflow.
What do you dislike about the product?
Configurability of metrics could be better, having to use the API to get to some metrics is not ideal
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Administration on larger numbers of projects can be challenging, especially when adding external plugins, but this may an artifact of challenges from having large numbers of projects.
As part of the engineering team at a large media company, we use JIRA to track our tasks.
What do you like best about the product?
What's nice about JIRA is as part of the Atlassian suite, it seamlessly integrates with the other Atlassian products that we use like Hipchat, Stash/Bitbucket, and Confluence.
What do you dislike about the product?
JIRA is not a particularly well-designed or engaging platform. There is much to be desired there, something more like Trello (which ironically was recenly acquired by Atlassian) would engage the user a lot more. Trello is more fun to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA to assign track bugs, tasks, user stories, product development and more. We make use of the commenting ability and the fact that information from other Atlassian software is directly and automatically linked in a ticket.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Like I've said with other Atlassian products, if you primarily use the Atlassian suite of tools, then JIRA would be a good fit for you, because it's great to take advantage of the cross-platform syncing. Otherwise, I'd use somthing else.
