Very complex and versatile software

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that this software even though very complex and with many, many features it's quite easy to learn if you focus on what you need exactly.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a while to understand how everything works, especially with workflows and changes made to them that influence other projects that use same workflows.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA to manage development and design stages of our app. It works quite good with marketing tasks too. It makes it easy to have everything that's going on in the company in one place.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Very strong software that can be configured very individually and personalized to fit your needs. You can run development projects using LEAN methodology, SCRUMM processess, also using KANBAN BOARDS. Really good stuff there.

Jira for development

  • October 19, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Love the flexibility of Jira - adding fields and tags and customizable workflows. Can customize for software development, marketing tasks, content development...
What do you dislike about the product?
Because it is so flexible, some teams don't 'finish' setting it up. The worst thing is using someone's half-set-up Jira with broken (missing) workflows, incomplete fields/boards, etc. and not having the rights to fix them. (:
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software development - initial launch phases and maintenance releases. Able to work seamlessly between remote teams and vendor and client teams in one instance. Keeps everyone on tasks and creates a source of truth for decisions and changes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really take the time to set it up with all the fields and processes to support they way you really work. Also, pay attention to permissions - give users the appropriate levels to do their job.

Confluence is ideal to view projects at a high level

  • October 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is really easy to use. You can build pages with widgets even if you don't know how to code anything. Their user interface is simple to use, and you can create an entire website (for internal use) of organized pages. Confluence also integrates with Jira, so if you use Jira, you can pull in elements that are important to specific projects and see their status. Multiple people can contribute to create basic web pages.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because Confluence is simple to use, its features are fairly basic. You won't get anything robust, and if you aren't familiar with a WYSIWYG editor, there could be a small learning curve to get it setup. It helps to think about how you would organize content before you get started, otherwise you'll have lots of pages floating out there that aren't connected in any way.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence helps keeps our internal processes organized. That can include best practices, defined roles, etc. We've also used it in conjunction with Jira to create a high level status page that pulls in Jira tickets (in epics) so we can quickly see how certain projects are progressing, or if anything is in danger of not meeting a deadline.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're building out an internal space for document sharing and/or other internal organizational projects, think about it like a website. Map out the way you would navigate through a site looking for something, even with a typical hierarchy of folders and sub pages. Build out the Confluence space just like that, and it'll be easier to find what you're looking for without searching.

Good software for managing large projects

  • October 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to learn how to use and seems to interact well with other software systems. It is easy to know which stage of a project you are one.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not easy to figure out how to stop email notifications when someone else is working on a portion of the project. I receive too many email notifications. I would also like tasks on the backlog to automatically fill to the ready column. But I don't know if that is a possible feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for editing numerous books.

The best project management tool on the market

  • October 18, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Project management, bug tracking, task tracking opportunities.
What do you dislike about the product?
The only thing I'm dissatisfied with is JIRA app for Android. Unfortunately, it lacks half of the features so it's impossible to use the full funtionality of the tool.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use JIRA as a tool for project management and task tracking and it does its job 100%.
