Amazing incident management software

  • November 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The web based easy to use incident management system.
What do you dislike about the product?
the interface may get really cluttered if there are too many attributes. There is no way to segregate and hide un-required attributes
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
tracking everything within the organization. JIRA helped us to have everything documented in a centralized system when it comes to any problem with any system.
Helped us to focus more on business process within a short period of time.

Useful system, painful UI

  • November 14, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA makes it easy to track progress on projects and quickly notify others, even changing the assigned person so that the task can proceed from team member to team member seamlessly. The ability to set up project stages also makes it easy to track the current status of a project.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is a clunky nightmare seemingly designed to grind the user's will into dust. Changing the project status--say from "copy edit" to "pending approval"--is grueling, as the change is slow and each step in the process must be done in sequence. Why is there no drop-box selector for the project stage? Furthermore, searching for tasks is arduous, and unrelated projects can quickly bury relevant assignments in the search system. Filtering out projects is cumbersome and not intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team works with a number of other teams to complete multi-stage assignments. Being able to track who is contributing to the project and what stage we're on is invaluable for completing our assignments on schedule.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JIRA works well for basic project management. The search feature is clunky and setting new project states is far more tedious than it needs to be, and frankly it seems like a problem that JIRA could solve if they bothered. But it does exactly what it needs to do, which helps my team and I complete our assignments in a timely and well-documented fashion.

Great and fully featured tool for project planning

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA has allowed our company to streamline our Agile workflow, from planning sprints to executing them and updating their progress. This is also useful for communicating to our clients exactly where their money is going.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI can be buggy and less than intuitive (making issues, stories, etc). There is a lot to JIRA, which is probably a good thing once you learn to use it all, but it is a little overwhelming at first and I still don't know all of what it can do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA makes our team more efficient. Everyone is on the same page with who is doing what each sprint. Communicating project progress to clients is as simple as looking at the sprints and relaying the tasks represented.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take some time to explore the features. The mobile app does not offer me all of what I'd like (I'd like to view my boards and future sprints that have not been started), but there is one available.

Things could be improved

What do you like best about the product?
I personally use the HR portion of Jira but the rest of our team uses the project and issue portion of the software. I have not heard anything negative about this and it seems that it keeps our dev team on track with all of their issues. Our scrum mast uses this software the most and he personally really likes the scrum board because it continuously keeps him on track.
What do you dislike about the product?
I personally dislike the HR portion of JIRA. I am not sure if I have not figured out how to properly use this portion of the software, but I personally hate the HR feature. There are far too many restrictions when it comes to moving the applicant across the hiring process. I would ot recommend this to anyone who is involved in recruitment and HR work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are solving so many problems with this software! I know that it is literally made for targeting issues but we are able to stay on top of any issue that arises. The scrum board along with the roadmap planning has kept us on track to meet all of our goals while still being able to resolve any issue that comes our way.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Everything about this software is great except for the HR board! I am not sure why JIRA has made this portion of the software so aggravating but this is my only issue. For everything else it is perfect for scrum masters!! Our scrum master loves JIRA!!

Our favorite new project management tool

  • November 13, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
We've been struggling for a long time to find a solution to solve our project management planning issues, and Jira proved to be flexible enough to suit our needs.
Plus the new design looks really good.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the main disadvantages of Jira is that its interface can be tricky or overcomplicated sometimes, resembling the older version of computer software, and not the lean-style approach that services like Trello offer.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira to plan the workload for the team on a weekly basis. It allows us to keep track of the various projects currently running inside the organization, the status of each project and its tasks both on a micro and a macro level, as well as the workload of every member of the team, as they get assigned to tasks.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You will need time to customize the interface and setup Jira in a way that benefits your organization. This can be a long-term project requiring detailed preparation before you are ready to launch, in order to leverage the full potential of Jira. However, if you do put that time and effort, Jira can cover your needs better than any other software can.
