Can appear intimidating to some but very easy to use & organize and track development tasks

  • December 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to: create tickets, comment and tag others to be notified, track history of the ticket including edits and comments, add assets for referencing (such as screenshots or spreadsheets), and organize tasks based on development/business value to prioritize major tasks vs minor tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can feel overwhelming to use when you first get started with it. You'll have to set up a few custom fields to make it easier to organize, but once the major components are set up, it is a very simple and smooth ride.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have a lot of development tasks that get handed over to the Web Development team. Support submits website issues, Marketing submits website requests or integration issues, Management submits 'desired' website tasks, and Development divides tickets based on where the issue lies. JIRA helps us streamline the development process and allow tasks to be handled more efficiently.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
JIRA also comes with Confluence which is a great resource to document processes, create wiki pages, document major releases, collaborate with other teams on upcoming projects, and more. JIRA is create for the execution of the tasks, and that in conjunction with Confluence makes this a solid win for our team.

It's the defacto standard for the industry so most people know how to use it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's super complicated because it's so customizable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project Management and ticket tracking for software development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Evaluate as you grow if the set up you have still works.

What do you like best about the product?
The ticketing system for me while I was doing UAT so user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing in particular. It does take a bit to get use to but after building your own board and creating filters it gets much easier.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Most of us use it to track issues with the games and call center. Usually outages.
Recommendations to others considering the product:

Powerful and Highly Configurable Software for Development and Issue Tracking

  • December 12, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira provides an out-of-the box solution for reporting, tracking, and resolving issues, as well as software development. I appreciate its strong integration between Service Desk (for reporting and communicating on issues), JIRA (for tracking progress through issues), and Bitbucket (for linking issues directly to source code).
What do you dislike about the product?
JIRA is highly flexible and can be difficult to customize. Projects may use a variety of issue types, derived from issue schemes. Each issue may use a different workflow, derived from workflow schemes. Every issue has different fields, many of which may be customized. Every issue exists in a state, and move from state to state through transitions. Transitions can have any number of rules and produce a huge variety of behavior.

Managing JIRA should be treated like a software design project of its own. Changes to the configuration can have undesirable consequences that take considerable work to backtrack.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA for bug tracking, but also use it extensively for software design and development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take your time to understand the relationship between the different aspects of JIRA. This includes: Projects, Issues, Issue Types, Issue Schemes, Workflows, Workflow Schemes, Fields, States, Transitions, Resolutions, Boards, and More.

And remember, JIRA can do far more than Agile. Take advantage of it!

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to access online is of course very useful.
What do you dislike about the product?
THe ability to use form capture dynamically proves challenging. And the ability to upload a doc and alter it needs improvement
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
project tracking; requests for LOE to software dev
Recommendations to others considering the product:
One thing I would recommend is have a concise plan of use when a large company as I feel our implementation is confusing with mutliple access links and not laid out for our company to have a single source of access. I am not involved with pricing or support with this product, so I am putting n/a
