Very flexible and powerful tool to manage projects
What do you like best about the product?
I love the flexibility that JIRA offers to set up projects. All the different aspects that form the project have been designed very intelligently, so you can reuse or share some of the configuration set-ups if needed. You can use or create your own ticket(issue) types, set up roles and assign permissions to these roles at the project level, as well as notification schemes, screen schemes, where different actions and ticket(issue) types can have their dedicated screens. Reporting works very well. You can create filters and dashboards and even subscribe to filter notifications and receive reports via email. Also, the Atlassian community is very engaged and it's easy to get in touch with people to help troubleshoot problems or to get recommendations.
What do you dislike about the product?
JIRA can be hard to learn and requires hands-on experience, time and patience. If best practices are not followed, issues may occurred (e.g. performance issues if there are many custom fields). Sometimes is also hard to find the root cause of problems when things don't work (although JIRA offers helper tools such as permission helper, which are very handy!) Some functionalities are not offered by JIRA and add-ons are needed which can be expensive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use JIRA as a tool to manage projects and to visualize progress. Data is stored in JIRA and filters allow to display the relevant data (in the right order) o teams can make informed decisions.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you understand JIRA best practices before you start setting up the tool for different teams. Changing complex configurations may be too impactful when teams are using the tool. Don't have many JIRA admins. Make sure that you have some type of governance that controls and approves the creation of custom fields or other project configurations.

Unless plugins ate purchased, each task of a project plan muat be entered individually.. big project plan, LOTS of work

Task distribution, tracking and progress management

The UI/UX is easy for users with drag & drop. Plus, it's colorful.
What do you dislike about the product?
Depending on how your Administraors set-up, some user actions can be restricted to only Admins - this makes it difficult to proceed with some activities until you can get Administrator help

If you're currently using Trello, Jira acquired Trello and there are many more advantages to using Jira in my option than Trello - but they will likely become similar over time under the same ownership.

What do you like best about the product?
I had a new project with many people participating, I needed a tool that would help me keep an order in the tasks and know how the progress was in each of them, my son recommended me Jira and it was perfect, at the beginning it was a bit difficult to use, but then I greatly facilitate the work, I help a lot to organize the tasks of my workers, write all the planning of my project and monitor what each worker did, could deliver reports in real time to my boss and keep track of hours worked, to know when a worker finished his task and thus deliver a new one, there are many virtues given by the application that helped me a lot in this project of great importance.
What do you dislike about the product?
Although the product is very good, they have things to improve such as:
At the beginning it is very difficult to understand or use, the learning curve is a little high, they should try to make the program a bit more intuitive for those who do not have much experience in the field of computer science.
The load times are high at times, so the connection to the Internet is good, the program takes time to respond on occasion, some workers said they lost time doing the uploads of tasks.
If they improve this will be a much more complete program.

When the need arose to carry out a large project, with many workers involved, this was the recommended tool that worked perfectly, solved the need to organize the project, organize the tasks of the workers in an orderly manner, know how the progress was going In real time and delivering complete reports in detail, it was a great benefit for my work.

If you need to manage a large project, organize the tasks of your team and keep a chronological order of all of them, this tool can be very useful.
Feature rich - lack of user level API
What do you like best about the product?
There a lot of ready dashboards, template queries for various charts
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is a bit overwhelming to navigate. Some feature is a bit hard to use for a simple function. Example, in the wiki, if I need to add a picture, I need to pick and resize, else it shows up at whatever the size of the original picture. Should make it simple to have the user to select "thumbnail", "wall", etc.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jira should think about having a simple interface to create API for the users to integrate into into their tools. Today it would require administrator level to create API for the entire system level. In a big company, this is not feasible. In a big company, each group is so small so that they would need to open the tickets to ask for for adding API and that would take weeks. There must be a simpler way for user-level API that only impacts at the project level, etc. Example, my team is using slack and I would like to have Jira to notify my team slack channel on the Jira tickets. This is not possible today, without asking the admin to add the webhook to the Jira system.
Great prioritization and project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
As a marketer, it's easy to follow the progress of tickets I've filed and gave discussions with engineers working on them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that I can't assign tickets to an epic or team, only to an individual so sometimes tickets get "lost"

Project management for product and engineering, with visibility for other stakeholders

What do you like best about the product?
I like its bugs and issues tracking, it makes so easy to do so.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is needed to explain about some of its functionalities, but overall spend time with this - you will love it!

I am using it to manage my projects, We find everything at one organized place, Thats the biggest benefit.

Yes, You can start using ZIRA if you have to manage a project or you are working on a project with others. You will find it really helpful in long term.

-- While attachinga file, the description comes in on the comment and not under the attachment. Unless you specify attachment file name, the comment itself is not self-explanatory and no one can figure out which comment refers to which attachment unless file names are used.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like is the way it help manage work for different projects. After working 5 different projects, JIRA is the to go tool to not only help designate work but to plan, design, manage and view process/progress and product data that we would otherwise not have.
What do you dislike about the product?
For some fields of the application, i.e. graphical tools to help see a project progess and etc. may at time be hard to navigate but overall a not much to complain about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Used in HR, Management, Development of products, and etc. in our company. A great product.

JIRA is a great tool to manage not only mutliple teams and projects in its different phases of development but it is a great resource to keep your team accountable. It allows our teams to work seem lessly and help navigate our project goals with ease. its an awesome product.
