Jira Review
What do you like best about the product?
I found Jira to be extremely helpful when I was on the product support side and needed to know the status of a particular bug the developers were working on and what has been fixed.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you are first new to JIRA, it can be quite confusing and frustrating to work with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used it to track our bugs with our product.
Flexible Product
What do you like best about the product?
There are options to easily customize the product to suit your needs. The UI was recently updated with a modern look and feel. It is a fairly intuitive product to use. JIRA also works well with the other Atlassian products (e.g., confluence).
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some hidden quirks that you'll have to work with your JIRA administrator to address.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Product management is much easier with JIRA, as this provides a transparent view of all upcoming issues or tasks that need to be accomplished.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
There is a cloud option (hosted by JIRA) or a local option (hosted by your company).
Good software management tool for a software house

What do you dislike about the product?
Complex for the Administrator to manage; learning how items relate to one another is key in the setup and design process. The system can be somewhat slow due to the nature of all of the data being hosted in the cloud (we have the JIRA Cloud version), as compared to other software project management and task tracking tools that were tested.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking the work that we do in our engineering department, all team members can view and track items in one central location on any computer or smart phone device they are on at the time. The software engineers, designers and support personnel can collaborate ideas together and it is easy to keep track of work performed and status of work. It can provide the benefit of needing to attend less meetings and that is a good thing! I think many businesses could make use of this system and recommend it.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It has plenty of flexibility and is one of the easiest systems for software engineers to get started using without hand holding. I would recommend to test out all of the features in the JIRA Cloud demo product before going through with a purchase to make sure that you are comfortable mainly with the fairly complex Administration aspect of the JIRA solution, and the pricing.
Best Software for issues tracking and project management
What do you like best about the product?
Very organized software . You can log several issues in order of priority and prioritize your fixing the issues. You can easily collaborate with other team members by assigning tasks or self taking the tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
The things that I don't like is is the visual appeal . It should be more customized as per the needs of different projects and firms
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software development in agile way, issues tracking , project management , project progress monitoring
Very functional and has gotten easier to user
What do you like best about the product?
I like that the fields are very customizable per issue type. It allows my team to make sure we have filled in issues appropriately and we can pick up the issues with full information.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's sometime difficult to make changes in bulk with JIRA or some of the fields are not surfaced in all of the views. I think it's getting better with their updated UI, but I still think consistent and consolidated views will make it easier to navigate.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA for product development - specifically bug tracking, stories and chores.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have recently made some investments in their user interface that has made navigation and wayfinding much simpler. I like that the side pane view has been replaced with a n easy to use modal and that some of the fields that we re previously difficult to find are now more discoverable and are expandable.
very user friendly and
What do you like best about the product?
easy to learn on the job, helps users navigate scenarios
What do you dislike about the product?
more feature descriptions could help a lot..
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
ability to track requirements across sprints
Recommendations to others considering the product:
try it is a debugging tool first before using it for PM
Not the best fit for startups but emulates NASA - built like a rocketship
What do you like best about the product?
Has a lot of configurability - you can define custom workflows and project structures
What do you dislike about the product?
Super clunky UI - even with the UI refresh they launched recently. It's almost like it's been built for the project managers and program managers - not so much for the developers or execution team. This UI is not meant for self defined tasks by developers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Requirement coverage by engineering team, code tracking, issue tracking, task assignment
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Consider using Trello (now owned by the same company). Bring in Jira when your projects need project managers.
Great, easy to use product with lots of features
What do you like best about the product?
This is an easy to use product that also provides a lot of features, logical workflows and ability to tag projects appropriately.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface isn't immediately visually appealing - it takes a little bit of time to figure your way through the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have used this mainly for QA on websites. It is a good tool to use for technical purposes.
Works for what we need
What do you like best about the product?
Its ability to generate reports and dashboards that are accessible, usable and understandable to C-Suite executives
Its ability to integrate with other tools through the use of plugins and add-ons (including source code repositories, a big one for use)
Its ease of use - new hires don't generally need to be trained at all, they pick up the right way to use the tool within their first week

What do you dislike about the product?
Some reporting needs the ability to be more customized. For certain reports, we still have to export data to excel...which is a hassle
Some features are very software development-centric. We use JIRA to track hardware and software defects, and some of the hardware defect tracking feels shoehorned in
The default behavior is to email any user tracking a defect when anything happens. In addition, users get added to the tracking list when they perform any actions on the defect. These two combined means that many users get overloaded with JIRA emails

We use JIRA to track defects, and the resolution of those defects, across hardware and software platforms. 95% of the engineering organization uses it in one way or another, although the use cases differ.
We use it to track all defect discovery, investigation, implementation and retest. We also use it as a way to facilitate discussion of the defects, and determine priority and resource assignment across the organization.
Furthermore, its ability to generate reports and dashboards that are accessible, usable and understandable to C-Suite executives is a great tool to keep our engineers focused on solving defects, and letting the tool handle the reporting side of things.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
In a software-centric development environment, especially if COTS source code management is used (Rhodecode, as an example) JIRA shines.
