A powerful platform with terrible UX

  • December 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA is very, very powerful. The filters and advanced search options can be useful, and tracking issues based on release versions (and dates) is another great feature for us to quickly analyze what needs to be done ASAP.
What do you dislike about the product?
The whole user interface is confusing. You can only include some types of filters using the advanced search, which uses a specific language called JQL. You just can't assume every developer in your team is gonna learn JQL simply to make queries in a issue tracker, so there is probably gonna be one person on your team who knows how to make queries and will help the others with it. This is even worse for some people on the QA team, who might not be developers at all.
The rest of the user interface is not much better - it seems like there are many menu items which just go to the same screens, and you'll likely click around randomly, hoping to get to the right screen where you'll waste some more time setting up the right filters. Definitely takes some time to get used to.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA mostly for bug tracking, although some of the product management features are also used. Both our development and QA teams have access to it and use it to collaborate on the whole process from discovering a bug to releasing a fix. Having a way to track each issue (knowing in what part of the process it is, etc) is fundamental as the product grows in scope, which is the main benefit of JIRA for us.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Train your team to use the platform beforehand. Otherwise, you'll see a a drop in productivity.

JIRA - part of a one-two punch with Confluence for effective AGILE project tracking & communication

  • December 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Increased accountability and transparency about in-flight projects. Tracks resources needed for ticket resolution. Able to organize multiple tickets under an epic for complex projects. Dashboards are easy to set up and follow. Aligns well with AGILE planning and sprints. Customization available to some extent for specific team use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Excessive email notifications- solved by putting a filter on Outlook. Learning to optimize use with ALL the functionality takes some time. Not necessarily intuitive to non-tech people working with the tech teams.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy to track bugs and issues with remote tech teams. Ties in with Confluence to effectively communicate project and ticket status with easy linking. Manpower/bandwidth for selected tasks easy to track, which assists me in resource/project management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Even after 1.5 years, I'm probably still not using ALL the features I could be. It's a great platform for project management, issue management and resource management - plus it ties in well with Confluence.

Impressive project management tool

  • December 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is a powerful tool for project management. It's easy to set up different projects, submit requests and filter searches by different criteria.
What do you dislike about the product?
The customization is dependent on the experience of the project manager. You could easily have your projects set up in a non-logical way and get stuck with it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira to track our Salesforce request tickets among other projects. Now we're able to document fields and workflows with the reason they were created.

Jira is a lifesaver!

  • December 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to customize nearly everything to fit our processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few reporting aspects that seem like they would be basic functionality but are missing. However, this is minor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Better ability to plan, prioritize, and communicate the work for our teams.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is simply the best work / task / bug / ticket management system out there, don't bother with anything else.

What do you like best about the product?
The easy of use is my favorite feature of Jira. I provide project work at glance and each team member can see their progress. It is very scalable as well.

initial learning curve could be a bit steep.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing teams projects. Being able to bridge between different teams in the company and work towards a volleyball goal. Saves time and resources

Easy to report bugs, not so easy to search for past bugs.

  • December 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The product interface is simple and easy to use. Filing bugs are incredibly easy to do, it guides you along with every step, and will let you know if something is missing. Adding attachments is a highly used feature of this as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
When searching for past/new bugs, it's rather difficult. Wish there were more ways to narrow down a specific bug you are looking for. Using the search bar provides results all across the board. If only there were search filters to narrow down the specific product, the specific issue, then specific keywords-- that would be incredibly helpful!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Filing bugs the second they appear, and its quick notification to our Dev side to get them fixed (especially for high bugs)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommend. Jira could use a few tweaks here and there, but ultimately, its a great service to track and log bugs that are years old, or just a few days old.

JIRA - Best project management tool for work with

  • December 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like interface of JIRA and now agile features also added that is awsome.
What do you dislike about the product?
Automatic time log feature is not there, if it should be there then it would be great for we people.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have developed many programs and monitored it using JIRA. My clients got their products ready on time because of JIRA and they can monitor each and every task while I developing. I got many benefits like punctuality, easy work progress, got payment only after checking JIRA records.

Single source of truth for all issues and projects

  • December 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is used by myself and many of my customers to track and collaborate on projects, issues, releases, and even product requests. The workflows seem intuitive and customizable.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI could be more appealing, and it could be easier to integrate with our product APIs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira is necessary in order to track product features, from request to research to coding and release. It's also used across functional teams to report issues or bugs that require immediate attention.
