Jira is a great tool for planning and execution
What do you like best about the product?
Easily define sprints of any length, submit stories and bugs, assign ownership and track the team's velocity.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think the application is difficult to administer. I often have to contact support for assistance.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are a software company that uses it as a planning and execution framework for developing our application. It keeps us organized and helps us to understand how much work the team can perform from a week-to-week basis.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
For any type of software project whether is the software team or even a marketing team, there is a great tool to keep the team organized and focused!
Ease of use and efficient task tracking and monitoring
What do you like best about the product?
Kanban boards, ability to move the issues across different stages on the board with ease. The Kanban board also provides different views bases on status, assignee and other filters that you can set-up to easily track tasks
What do you dislike about the product?
Configuring workflows can be complicated
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management and better team collaboration
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's very useful to have a JIRA administrator to help configure the project correctly
Back up your data. Horrible customer service. You are a number.
What do you like best about the product?
Ease of use. Easy to understand with little to no time to get started.
What do you dislike about the product?
Horrible company. We had an issue with our company and instead of just backing up our data and suspending our account, like Amazon, Google and other reputable companies do, JIRA's parent company just deleted 12+ months of work. They don't maintain a master backup. Apparently the $600+ per year for basically the same amount of space as a Facebook account wasn't enough money for them to save our data. They just want your money and don't care about you.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We had an issue with an expired credit card. Unlike most companies in the United States, this company is based in Australia and they, apparently, don't care about your data. They just deleted everything. No phone call. No suspension with a backup. Just complete wipe of about a year of work. Use at your own risk. They just want your money and don't care about your business.
Additionally, permissions don't work properly. Sometimes adding and removing users gives some unauthorized users permissions and notifications for content they should not have access to. A BIG deal, especially if you are working with distributed contractors that aren't authorized to see some content.
You are paying for convenience with JIRA. Cheap solutions are just that, cheap. And, again, they don't care about you. Apparently the $600 per year, or around that, that they were making from me was not enough for a quick phone call before deleting my data.

Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just don't use them unless you like working with companies that don't care about you or your company.
Super flexible and well thought-out
What do you like best about the product?
I love how flexible Jira is. With a competent admin, it seems like it can hook or manage any process, use case, or out-of-the-box scrum theory that comes along
What do you dislike about the product?
The key is having someone who understands how to work with Jira. It can require patience to tie to other processes like version control, for example.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It handles all our process tracking, ties into Confluence to store notes and development documents, and fires off calls to other systems for reviews and updates.
Good Tool to track all the project work
What do you like best about the product?
The besr part I like about the Jira is Track the work, estimating points.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes have issues with attaching a document to the comments.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Moved to Agile format recently and the work load can be tracked and access the Metrics
Using JIRA for past 7 years
What do you like best about the product?
JIRA is the main software program that I use each day at work. I'm in there creating user stories, reviewing and approving requirements, running scrum meetings, prioritizing my backlogs, creating epics, etc. It might be that I'm overly familiar with the program, but I find it easy to use and almost second nature now.
What do you dislike about the product?
Currently I dislike using it at such a large company because in the past I was an administrator and now am more locked down with what I can do and don't find it as flexible to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA for all of our software development projects in an Agile environment

Some internal customers tend to hide behind JIRA and are not as proactive because of it.
