One of the best bug tracking software out there

  • January 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Until Jira we have used several other tools for bug tracking. None of them helped our software development projects as much as Jira is doing. I like Jira for:
- easy to use bug tracking features
- collaborative features which makes it the go to place for managing the issues in the project
- the support for Agile SCRUM or Agile Kanban software development methodologies: dashboards, tools for a better effort estimation
- filtering mechanism with subscription ability, which delivers the search results in your email on a customizable scheduler basis
- great integration with other Atlassian tools for source code versioning(Bitbucket), continuous integration and continuous delivery(Bamboo) and for documentation&team collaboration(Confluence)
- integration with hundreds of other tools that you may already use
- thousands of plugins/addons
- extensive configuration options to adapt Jira to your needs
- ability to write your own addons
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the pain points I had was to learn how to configure Jira for our needs and then adapt it for any new requirement or new kind of project we wanted to track. Even if setup is one time job, many times I found myself spending more time for small changes.
I had also some difficulty convincing top management to buy the upgrades for more users, since it became very popular in the company and other departments(other than software development) started to use it. The price for more users tends to go up fast.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira for bugtracking, Agile SCRUM and Kanban development support. We realized soon that switching to Agile with Jira was a winning combination by getting a greatly increased productivity, together with having more homogeneous teams and same mindset across team members.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
As we found out in the last few years, switching to Jira for bug tracking and for SCRUM/Kanban support improved our project plans, teams' productivity, increased the collaboration inside the project teams and created better teams.
I can't recommend Jira enough for its purpose.

Jira for Project management

  • January 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to set up user stories, requirements, tasks and link them. Assigning them to users for action and track the progress. Different view options, especially kanban style, and being able to separate projects.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes a while to set up and input all the information, during the project it requires constant updates otherwise it can quickly become out of date. Unclear also on dependencies, and would like to be able to visualise timing a little better, perhaps with a gantt display?
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management, requirements and task completion.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the task boards and ability to add attachments and comment on each task
What do you dislike about the product?
Initial setup was a little difficult but after getting through it, everything went smoothly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software task management
Recommendations to others considering the product:
trello is much simpler but a little more limited as well. Jira has huge amounts of possibility and is very simple for the users to interact with once it's setup.

Jira Task Management

  • January 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The planning option and flexibility of configuration
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be a lot of overhead to maintain and you could easily go down the configuration rabbit hole if you haven't done training first
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management and requirements documentation
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you haven't used it before and this is a new implementation, take the time and train before you start implementing

Easy to use and great break down of tasks

  • January 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to create tasks and to ask coworkers questions regarding the task through the comments section.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike how JIRA sometimes does not include the fields needed for the user story or task which makes the sprint planning last longer as the scrum master has to go directly to the task and then try to add the information there.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA allows everyone in the team to know what other people are working on. This is especially helpful for the QAs as they know who to go to for bugs and issues that arise.

Great Collaborative Tool for Agile

  • January 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the Agile efforts collaborative process. Business create user stories in the backlog and Tech, ESQA and UAT all work together at the same time. Great workflow and reporting capabilities. It can be integrated with ALM and Confluence.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool is great. My dislikes are because of the constraints that my administrators have placed on us and not the tool functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to resolve minor defects and enhancements for our customer profitability finance product called ProfitView. The benefits are more collaboration between the business and Tech, visibility among all stakeholders and better effort management.

Bug Tracking

  • January 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very easy and intuitive to use. We use it for Bug Tracking, Release Tracking, Product Development etc.
Can add Due Dates, track using labels, Fix Versions, Components, Type etc.
Easy to maintain a DB of all the issues, where you can search for resolutions. We can also create bug and project templates, which can save a lot of time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Nothing really to dislike. Creating your personal Dashboard might take some expertise, but once its done its very easy to use. Rest API's can be improved further. Search might be cumbersome if you have too many fields for filters.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Bug Tracking, Release Tracking, Product Development, Test Development.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Its pretty easy to use and track. Jira is one product I use everyday in my day to day work. Rest Api for Jira might need slight improvement, but for us it has done the job.
