One of the Best In Class Agile Tools
What do you like best about the product?
Jira is Very customizable. It can be shaped to do pretty much whatever you want it to do. One incredibly powerful feature of Jira is its integrations. There are countless integrations that it has and it has many products that it will integrate with so you can set up all kinds of tooling around it. As far as using it for agile processes it is truly best in class. The Atlassian staff that supports Jira listens to feedback and has taken steps to improve their product over the years and has improved tremendously. If you use Atlassian cloud for Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence you will find that it has all the things you need to get your team up and running. It also has a mobile app that is a little limited, but does the majority of what you could want as a team member.
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigation around the ui can be difficult at times, but this is continually improving. Some of the management aspects of projects and users is a little difficult to setup, but documentation has improved where it is not as painful as long as you read before you start.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA to track our Scrum teams as well as a Kanban team. We use it for stories, issues, tasks, production maintenance tracking, and planning. It helps us communicate where we are at to each other and the rest of our business. We have many integrations and most importantly is with our source control. If you were to look at Jira you can see if there are feature branches or pull requests related to a story as well as go see what those are in those tools directly from Jira. As an engineer, I like that I do not have to do anything fancy besides name my branch or have a tag in a commit for Jira to pick it up from our source control. It truly does help get your team organized and once it is setup it mostly stays out of your way and facilities your agile process.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Take the time to really understand whichever process you are doing and try to use JIRA to match our process - not the other way around. Avoid overcomplicating your project hierarchy and aim for simplicity at first. Don't forget it is a tool that's supposed to help teams across a business collaborate and not become a dead letter queue or information refrigerator.
Operations and development friendly
What do you like best about the product?
I really like the friendliness of JIRA for both operations and development. The two teams are able to use 1 platform efficiently to be able to manage different project types
What do you dislike about the product?
Editing a ticket and it’s respective fields present after entering a ticket should be a bit more user friendly / easier to access
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Software implementation, bug fixes, data mapping
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Really look into the different integrations they have - i.e. JIRA and SmarSheets
Popular but not always the right fit
What do you like best about the product?
I like how configurable it is. Workflows, setup right, can be really powerful for keeping work on track and ensuring quality.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's really hard for new users to get their head around it. The interface is a little cluttered and it's not clear what needs attention and when.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tasks management and team collaboration.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's one of the most popular tools out there but it is expensive compared to others. Evaluate a few tools as another such as Redmine or Asana might meet your requirements.
If you do go with Jira then get the users trained on it before starting projects.
If you do go with Jira then get the users trained on it before starting projects.
It's OK but could be more intuitive
What do you like best about the product?
We use JIRA to track and manage all of our marketing web requests. I like that it has drag and drop capabilities that make it easy to move tasks to different sprints. The ability to categorize tickets by epic and also create subtasks is nice.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is a bit dated and could be more modern. Not easy to use on your phone which is limiting for me as I like to work via my mobile device often. wish there were more workflows and more integration with other tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use JIRA to track and manage our tickets so that requesters get notifications and we can see workload, resources, etc. We use an agile methodology and have set our instance up to allow us to do sprint planning.
Increased efficiency to issue tracking
What do you like best about the product?
What I like best is that everyone can see the progress on the issue.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are stark differences to escalation policies vs Remedy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work with software development issues that have been managed to closure with Jira and posted to Confluence.
Excellent digital ticketing tool
What do you like best about the product?
I love the ability to comment and upload from anywhere, not just at the work computer. It's also very helpful to be able to see all of the activity in one place, and that I receive an email update anytime a comment is added.
What do you dislike about the product?
This is a massive utility tool for digital projects and it's difficult to know the extent of what is available to use. Also, the limits on the number of seats you can have available has been an issue.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are tracking all email and web-based projects with JIRA. We are able to track progress in real-time with all team members and identify delays or holes in communication.
The major benefit has been to have all consolidated comments and progress in one place.

Great product to build systems around for engineering and engineering support
What do you like best about the product?
How easy it is to build workflows. Also I like how they focus on integrations. We use it integrated with ZenDesk with great success. Also the tool is very flexible so we are able to use it across team including services, engineering and support.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting can use a facelift and needs to be more robust.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sprint planning, Product management, engineering execution, help desk.
Streamlining communication cross team is the big win.
We are outside of email due to the platfrom.

Jira Review

The ease of use in finding linked projects as well as the bugs associated to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is sometimes cumbersome going through the menus to find the multiple projects you are working on.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Big tracking and sprint tracking.
Great for agile teams and development work coordination, but reporting could use some work
What do you like best about the product?
Fits right into agile methodology and very easy to use. No problems with copy/pasting images, attachments, and formatting stories to look right.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reporting and some charting capabilities is lacking. Need better ways to track burndown, velocity, etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Coordinating work and submissions from multiple stakeholders and users. Estimating completion of projects.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you look at the marketplace and see what features they are lacking, and what 3rd party addins can do for you. For example. Jira does not handle test tracking for you.
