    Aidan D.

De facto standard tool for software project management

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Used out of the box, Jira works well for software companies using Scrum or Kanban. The key benefit is that you usually don't have to train staff how to use it because they've used it before.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's too configurable. Gets customised until it's a mess. Config is hard to understand and harder to change. Incorrect implementation of Scrum themes and epics (themes are *not* collections of epics).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We build software across continents; having a single well-understood tool for managing the process is vital. We also use Jira for our support desk, and have recently started to use it for internal task management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Stick to the standard config and resist the temptation to fit it around your legacy process.

Essential tool for agile teams

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA is a fully customizable tool that is absolutely the lifeblood of our organization. I love the ability to assign and tag people on tickets, customize the workflow and screens, and keep track of all tickets and sprints.
What do you dislike about the product?
The workflows and screens can be a bit confusing and I would really like to customize the default options that come up with an issue search, but these are minor.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
IT workflows are smooth and sprints are launched all using the JIRA tool.

Jira is an advanced tool for Complex teams

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira allows you to customize the workflows that your tickets/tasks go through to fit how your team works. Add in stages and routing logic that fits your team rather than trying to jam a solution to work for you.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not the easiest interface to use, especially at first. It's easy to lose tickets and tasks, as the main views don't give a good holistic view of all that is happening
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira to handle tickets for our software development team. Both bugs and new features are tracked in Jira.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend Jira for teams that feel like other tools are not working out for you, and can't quite fit your needs. For most things, I don't think you would need the customizability of Jira, but there may be some situations where forcing a fit is no good. In those situations, Jira excels because you can customize it to fit your team.

Satisfied with the product

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The interface is simple and easy to navigate through. It's also easy for multiple users to organize and complete tasks at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes the load time is a bit laggy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Client issue ticketing and developer backlog tasks. The benefits are the efficiency in teamwork and progress in projects. JIRA plays a major role in our company's client issues as well as development cycle. It helps facilitate the agile methodology and provides a central repository for tasks raised by clients.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a great product. It can be useful across multiple divisions (internal support, client services, development, project management). I would recommend this product to improve efficiency.

Support tickets

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It is a great tool that helps manage our IT customer service tickets that are emailed to us. We can work the ticket and out step by step progress on it.
What do you dislike about the product?
That it emails the reporter even if you cancel the request.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Customer service from IT.

Jira is just like its name, OK but not Great

  • January 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Mobile app is good and has a better interface than the desktop. Alerts work great as well and I can stay in the loop while on the go.
What do you dislike about the product?
Interface design is lacking. Overall flow at any point in the system is clunky. Needs improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management. Keep track of projects within a team and keep everyone on board.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you are looking for simple project management go in a different direction. If you want every possible option and the ability to scale infinitely, choose Jira with the knowledge that it will be a slow starting process.

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is easy to use and customize...allows us to grant users partial admin access to manage their own environments.
What do you dislike about the product?
Jira performance needs to be improved. Along with phone support is not provided as part of licensing but at an additional cost.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management and tracking of issues
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Offer phone call support as part of licensing

This is a good tool for task management

  • January 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Been using JIRA for years, it never disappoints. Relatively easy to use, great for managing tasks. We like the kan ban view and how easy it is to customize the view. I also like theSSO enabled login.
What do you dislike about the product?
Customizing the app is a little tricky, there are a lot of settings and the settings labels are not really self-explanatory. Admin functions take a while to do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Task management and collaboration among team members, especially with bug tracking
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommended to anyone seeking a task management tool

Great app for scrum

  • January 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Able to implement a full scrum board for development work.
What do you dislike about the product?
Could have some additional features like burn down charts.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Product development. Quicker time to market.

Perfect for an ever changing development team

  • January 26, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how configurable JIRA is. The specifics of the permissions, user roles and the ability to blend a partner or stakeholder group into the process as minimal or much as needed. Its easy to use, the configurable transitions and work flows make for an agile process that can change as needed and built on a team basis.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that permissions are controlled at a project level. Sometimes board views could be a bit more configurable. I wish it integrated easier into our deployment software as well so that we didn't have to do so much manual review and updating between the two.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We work with a direct partner building software as needed. JIRA has solved the issues involved in this relationship that deal with the complexity of the product and business requirements. With JIRA we're able to integrate them seamlessly into our sprints without taking away from our internal needs and processes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you need to integrate multiple teams, partners, or departments into a project -- or if you have requirements, tickets, bugs being submitted across multitudes of channels -- consider jira. Integration of teams and people into software ticketing is seamless.
