It delegates it to the other person while allowing you to tag interested parties and set a deadline. Great for collaborating.

JIRA - solves webpage issues

  • January 28, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
You can create a ticket to send to IT to solve your system problems immediately. Gives you an easy way to report issues using their template.
What do you dislike about the product?
Requires a lot of fields to fill in on the form.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company handles registrations for various conferences. When attendee's encounter issues we are contacted. Using JIRA we can report bugs to IT to fix immediately and prevent registrants from further delays.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
The template used is very straightforward and has fields for all the required information to fix bugs in various pages, for my company registration pages that could have bugs in selecting certain classes to attend or trying to save certain pages in the registration.

Agile Project Management for Marketing Team

  • January 28, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA gives my team visibility into all current projects and helps us stick to deadlines since we work in two-week sprints. We use JIRA's card system to assign various steps of a project to individual team members, and we can easily see the status of each task as it moves from not started, to in progress, to under review, to done.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe JIRA is used most often by software developers, so it seemed like a really technical and unfriendly environment to me at first.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA has helped the marketing team at my company get a good handle on agile project management and two-week sprints.

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It’s customizable for our organization and easy to learn.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish it were more like Trello and had its aesthetic.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating task tickets which can be assigned to correct team member and easily distributed throughout organization for visibility.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Compare to Trello which I prefer, but it is a good solution if you’re a Zendesk user - it integrates well.

A complete project management tool for dev teams

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
What I most like in JIRA is the transparency it provides us in our tech team. As a product manager, I have a clear view of what our team is working on and what I have planned for the next weeks.
A good amount of settings are customizable, whether it's for your project or your users management.
And the new interface is way much better than the old one!

The dashboards and its KPIs are also one of the great things I use. It helps me track our efficiency in order to improve it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It took me a while to get used to it. I think it still remains a tool meant for IT team. The workflows and the structure of a project (scrum, kanban, etc.) were clearly meant for agile dev teams. But Scrumban does not really fit with the structure of JIRA (although I finally found workarounds).

We never managed to put our marketing and design team issues in JIRA because it is way too much complex for the type of tasks they deal with.
So we finally decided to use 2 or 3 different project management tools for each team of our business.

Also, the settings are quite confusing sometimes. Maybe there are too much of them. I don't always know where to go to modify a specific item.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a product manager, it helps me plan the next tasks the dev team will have to assess and work on. As a team, we have a better idea of the structure of each project (epic, story, sub-task).

It also help a lot our QA guy since he is more aware of what's ready for testing and what's not. He can associated bugs to some issues and then send it back to the dev team.
We also have more visibility on what's ready to put in production.

So as a whole, JIRA helps us organize our dev task workflow and makes us more efficient.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you're a mature dev team who's looking for a complete tool which will allow you to manage different line of projects at the same time, JIRA is the one.

Level up

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Customization, search, dashboards, integration with confluence, version reporting to make sure you’re going to hit your release dates. Takes a while to learn but once you do you’re all powerful
What do you dislike about the product?
Customization can be a bit of a pain to set up and it can be hard to manage between projects. Wish you could combine projects in one board rather than using components to segment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Great for moving to enterprise level software development. Previously used trello - we could not have effectively managed replatforming without jira

Great for project management; not great for workflows

  • January 27, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Categorization and drag and drop features help my team stay on task and know what is being worked on.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be clunky in some cases and becomes annoying when something doesn't work properly. Example is when creating a new item, it stays unassigned instead of auto assigning to me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking project statuses visually and identifying where effort is being spent
