Terrible but no better option out there
What do you like best about the product?
You never lose your data! Whatever you create on JIRA, it'll almost never be lost because JIRA makes it so hard to delete your data. Every issue has a history of every change ever made. Issues can be resolved or marked as won't-do but won't be deleted.
What do you dislike about the product?
Terrible, horrendous UX. The software is really bloated. It loads slowly. Finding your issues and moving them around is really hard. Because of its terrible UX, JIRA adds a lot of overhead into your projects.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It provides issue tracking. So anything that needs to get worked on, add it to JIRA and people will be able to see what the progress is.
JIRA is great
What do you like best about the product?
I like that many people can work on projects together, small or large
What do you dislike about the product?
I haven't figured out how to remove something from the board after it has been added to board. The "save info from your environment" doesn't send helpful info.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Accountability and organization of technical issues within our product.

Great solution for Agile/Scrum implementation
What do you like best about the product?
I really love the dashboard and the ability to cutomize it to my needs. I was able to keep track of all my project in one place.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be confusing with all the paramter and preference when you are the admnistrator
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have choose JIRA for our solution to implement Agile/SCRUM methodology in our business. After one year we were very happy withe tool and the time tracking tol was great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you understand all the parameter before implementing it. If you use plug in from other vendor you may exprience some issu if you upgrade your version. The documentation for using jsql is not the best.
Decent product for an agile team.
What do you like best about the product?
Very customizable and configurable.
Interesting filters and views of current sprint work, and burndown charts.
Lots of different types of "cards" to help separate types of work.
Easy to modify descriptions of cards, and add comments. Can tag and notify other users in comments.

What do you dislike about the product?
Almost too customizable. You can get lost in the millions of things you can customize. The settings aren't always intuitive for workflows and permissions. It's kind of an administrators nightmare for a company of any size. Best suggestion would be to keep weird customizations to a minimum.
Pretty lack luster mobile experience. Only a fraction of the functionality you get on the desktop app.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Sprint planning and execution.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep wacky customizations to a minimum even though everyone is going to be demanding them. The more "out of the box" you can use it, the less headaches you'll have down the road.
Resonable price for small teams, not so much for larger
What do you like best about the product?
It is a very good ticket tracking system that is fairly customizable, even for the cloud version that we used. I like how confluence can be tied in with the portal to decrease the tickets submitted by recommending knowledgebase articles for common solutions. I don't recommend using the queues at all ever. Their filters are incredible and after you spend time creating a few really good ones, they are well worth the effort. Each filter I have now I love. It's really cool how you can even filter on historical data like a previous reporter for a task.
What do you dislike about the product?
The functionality we assumed was built in like checklists, any useful reporting, schedule tasks, backups, time cards are each an extra plugin you have to pay for. It really had a heck of learning curve. It took many hours of figuring out how to customize it and get around known issues like the task creation button creates a type of task by default that if you change the reporter, and then expect updates to go out to that person, they don't. There are several gotchas like that. I just wonder if there's something better out there, but we already invested too much into it and now it's working well enough for us.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We only have me and one other support tech for a company of over 100. We simply can't have people call and email us. We were losing track of jobs, and who was doing what. Now we have everyone submit a ticket instead. Months later, people still try not to use the system, but we got to the point we deny to help them with non-critical tasks until they submit a ticket. It is much easier to track tasks now instead of through email and the best part is now that if I see my co-worker has too many tasks in his filter queue (the only way I suggest to keep track of your tasks across projects), I just reassign some to myself and I have all of the history between him and that person, and all information I need to pick right up from where he last was.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely, don't think it's the best because it's the one you might have heard the most about and has the most integrations we wound up not using. Compare it first to make sure there's not something easier to use or cheaper out there.
Creating visibility across teams
What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can customize dashboards and create visibility within my team and across all teams within the company.
What do you dislike about the product?
You really need to have application Superuser on staff or a smilled system administrator in order to benefit from all of the options available.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project tracking, accountability and visibility. Also creating customized reports and dashboards.
simple and easy to use out of the box
What do you like best about the product?
Easy out of the box implementation but also a lot of opportunity for customization
What do you dislike about the product?
can get confusing if you customize too much.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
backlog of dev tasks
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep the workflows simple. Use scrum and keep it simple... can't stress that enough.
JIRA, a useful, easy to use tool for tracking developer work
What do you like best about the product?
I like that anyone can comment on a ticket and there is a searchable record of tickets.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface has recently been updated and it looked better and felt more intuitive before.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track technical issues, data delivery preparation, software development. It is useful to have a single system with many options for tailoring to your specific project needs.
Powerful Yet Complicated
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy the in-depth permissions and project schemes that allow you to have full control of who can access and do what. The level of security and control is top notch!
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the fact that it can be overly complicated to do the simplest things. For example, there is no built-in, intuitive way to copy or duplicate a project in Jira.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Jira helps us stay on top of our projects, no matter how big or small, and provides a way to document and review previous projects in a centralized location. Not only do we use it to manage our projects and business processes, it serves as centralized database for all of our reviewed and approved policies and procedures.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Can be complicated. Requires additional Administrative training for admins to truly take advantage of all of the features and basic training for users.
