One of the top tracking products that I've used.

  • April 06, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Simply put, It's easy to use. In fact, I think this is easier to use than any other comparable software that I've used so far!
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much that I dislike. The big one is that its search functions largely come down to creating a lot of special queries with custom language, which is tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The primary business problem that I solved with JIRA was tracking my project. The project that I worked on at the company (where I used JIRA) was quite involved, lasting several months. This meant that I had to break its features up into multiple sprints, and use stories to further define sub-goals within the overall goal that was the project. This made organizing work and tracking progress much easier to do. The benefit really did show through, especially for other teammates who weren't always following my project; they could just see the stories that I've done as well as the time spent on each story and see that I've been making a bit of progress (even if the product hadn't been released yet)! It played a crucial role in making my internship work. I'm just surprised that more places aren't using this product (admittedly, I haven't worked in many companies yet). I'd say that JIRA is *the* way to go when it comes to project management as well as tracking bugs and other tasks in general. It indeed is a very useful product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Ensure that there's proper documentation. Make good use of splitting into substories.

Effective and efficient

What do you like best about the product?
We used to use trello, but moved to Jira and found it to be well worth the move. The fact they have a native ios app is a big plus, and being able to assign tasks to epics means we can keep all tasks together.
What do you dislike about the product?
The jira admin interface is very confusing - this could be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing development tasks and product bugs.

JIRA is a good resource planning tool

  • April 06, 2018

What do you like best about the product?
1. The Kanban board is good for a team to plan and prioritize tasks
2. Integration into confluence is good and easy to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
When you create an issue, you cannot add the watcher and people won't get email notification about the ticket being opened. You can only add watchers after you create the issue, that is not convenient.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Internal resource planning and check for bug tickets.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It is a good tool for startups.

I don't know how we'd get anything done without it

  • April 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to conduct simple or complex searches. The advanced automation capabilities for different workflows. And the overall flexibility to scale to any departments processes.
What do you dislike about the product?
The most frustrating thing about Jira is trying to figure out how to use some of the widgets available when creating dashboards. But that may stem from my limited time to reference their knowledge-base and support materials.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira Service Desk as our customer-facing tech support ticketing system. We also use Jira as our internal ticketing system for projects, and task delegation. It's the workflow that keeps our cross-department jobs efficient.

Review of Jira

  • April 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Being able to organize and view the status of all development projects in one place, new developments, bugs, updates, quick fixes, etc. Also being able to sort by user and communicate with all employees through the platform.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike the number of steps it takes to close out a ticket. We do not have a way to close a ticket with the click of one button, there is a long workflow. Creating dashboard is a also a tedious process.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Jira to solve all software development problems and processes. It is our central hub to communicate about development work, the status of a project and discuss how a project is progressing, etc.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is a good product which only gets better the more you use it and learn the ins and outs about how to use the product's features.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Flexibility to configure it per your organization workflow needs is the best thing I like about it and for any missing features we have add ins
What do you dislike about the product?
Some of the addins are clunky at times , offcourse not an issue of Jira but something vital for success of the product
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Use Jira for Agile Product development processes, test and defect management
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Jira is a powerful tool but its success is dependent on how well you think through and implement the workflow

Very useful tool to manage the work

  • April 05, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ease of use of this tool is really helpful. The work can be managed very well. There are quite a few features which help in generating all sort of reports for management purpose. The charts are quite useful. Various boards which are there is quite useful and makes the work organized and track very easily
What do you dislike about the product?
There is some downtime of the application which makes the experience bit messy but the frequency of these downtimes are not that much so it's still manageable. There are few low priority defects with report generation, especially with Burndown charts. Once this is resolved it will make the experience even smoother.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are quite a few business problems have we solve using JIRA. The Major ones are managing the work and following Agile with ease. We can create various dashboards as per the requirement and keep the work bifurcated between logical grouping. There is report generation which keeps the management informed about the real-time progress of the work and helps in better decision making.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend others to go to Jira as this is one of the best tools to manage your work out there. The variety of features and ease of use is amazing. There is so much you can do with this tool and it really helps you follow the Agile methodology to the fullest. Easy to access web based tool

  • April 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Jira provides good framework and project management display. You can drag and drop project tickets whenever and wherever. Prioritizing these tasks is very easy. Assigning the tasks to team members notifies them by email which I think is a great addition. Definitely recommend!
What do you dislike about the product?
Little hard to understand it in the beginning but when you get used to it, the workflow becomes very smooth.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to be able to track the progress of everyone on the individual stories, spikes, and epics that they are working on helps to give everyone a sense of accountability and community in a more business-oriented fashion.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Highly recommend Jira, it one of the best tools I have used for project management and ticket resolution.

Not My Favorite, but It Works

  • April 04, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that the projects can be labeled by type, status, and priority. I also like that I can see the projects assigned to me as well as other projects that others on my team are working on. Finally, I appreciate the email notifications sent to me whenever someone mentions me in a project.
What do you dislike about the product?
When multiple people are involved in a project and everyone is making comments, it can be a bit confusing to navigate what's going on in the platform. Most of the projects are ongoing, but there isn't an option to implement a due date if desired.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA is a project/product management tool that helps to organize the different tasks at hand (especially those that require the attention of developers)
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Try to only involve the team members essential to the project, and assign to one person at a time instead of tagging multiple people in a comment, because that can get confusing fast as I have experienced.
