Not the prettiest GUI. The color coding of highest to high is almost impossible to distinguish,.

Permissions control could use some more guidance in the menu so that I can accurately understand which permission has which effect
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our entire agile workflow revolves around JIRA. We also document customer care issues for multiple teams
Recommendations to others considering the product:

It takes a while to get used to, but it's powerful as hell!

What do you like best about the product?
Our team was able to stay so organised while using Jira, it was just unbelievable. We could organise tasks and sprints with complete ease, and add so much information to each one that you never forgot what you were supposed to be doing. And you could track where everyone else was at any given time. It was so great.
What do you dislike about the product?
My days is there ever a steep learning curve. It was often hard to remember where you found something before if it wasn't something you were using all the time. It was also hard to view the daily SCRUM standups together. There was no overview, and that was frustrating.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA kept our team organised. Whereas before we were constantly messaging back and forth with questions like, "What was that other thing we mentioned that we'd like to get done if we had the time?", JIRA helped to cut down on that kind of cluttering conversation. It was great for that.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Keep track of where you found something! Once we'd spent a while using it, it was easy-peasy, but during the first few weeks we were constantly forgetting how to do certain things.

dashboard can be improved to look simple and crisp. Another issue with Jira is difficult to set up.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Create, assign and track development and testing of products. Its is easy to use.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I recommend Jira to be used for tracking bugs and development issues. It is easy to use and does not need much time to understand it.

Delivering Value in Sprints

  • April 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA was a wonderful tool to keep track of work within sprints. At first the extent of what I used was very superficial and was only related to backlog and sprints, after a couple of years I found the need to expand on it's functionalities and was not dissapointed at all.
What do you dislike about the product?
At first JIRA is simply yet hard to use, simple at the surface but if you want to use JIRA to it's full potential you need to learn a lot of its functionalities.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA was the tool we used to keep track of project development through the use of the product backlog and work done within the sprints. This tool helped us keep track of what needed to be done and WIP.

I don't have a reference for comparison

  • April 10, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The product teams seemed to respond quickly and prefer that we post all issues to JIRA so they are sorted effectively and they get credit for solving.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are many ambiguous options that you may not know how to specify without prior experience, e.g. priority level or type of bug.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Fixing bugs quickly and suggesting enhancements to products based on user feedback. Effective task management in general.

Aids in communication between teams!

  • April 09, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love the easy-to-use interface of Jira. Though I'm not an engineer, Jira makes it easy to understand what the path looks like from inception to feature roll out.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes I get confused on how to find the issues that I've reported, or to filter by a specific customer, but that could just be user error. It's also quite expensive per license!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira as a means of communicating feature requests from our customer success team and showing progress on product features/improvements.

Feature overload and awful UX

  • April 08, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really like the ability to do bulk changes to my tickets.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are so many little things that I bump into on a regular basis where the UX is awful. One example is there is a dropdown that has extremely sensitive mouseout logic and if you don't move your mouse down from exactly the right place the dropdown will disappear. It's pretty clear that JIRA does not do regular UX testing either internally or externally.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management across multiple teams. The benefits have been a centralized placed for everyone to get status updates, a standard format for projects that gives the business better planning abilities, and the ability to link Github PRs to an item of work.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely look at other products in the market to see if they meet your needs first. JIRA is very bloated and hard to use, and it's very possible that there's a more lightweight solution that meets your needs. This is especially true if you're a smaller team/startup/etc.
