Easy to use for project tracking

  • August 01, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the user interface. There is a lot of rich data on one screen while you're within a project and you don't have to click a million links to find what you're looking for.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not dislke anything about Jira for project management.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My company was looking for a tool to manage projects and integrate that with SugarCRM. As a sales rep I have always wondered what happened to my clients and their projects after they close. The Sugar Jira integration pushes all Jira data inside of that Account record in Sugar for me to see. It has saved me a lot of time from having to ask around about a project or login to a separate system.

Great Task Management Tool

  • August 01, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I liked that it is easy to sync this up with BitBucket, HipChat and other tools within the Atlassian suite, which allowed for easy seamless integration for task management
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that its UX is a little confusing and not as intuitive as other forms of task management tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We solved the problem of proper task management being fully integrated into our other productivity tools which allows for a seamless work flow.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I personally prefer Trello over JIRA but if you're using that Atlassian suite then I think this product is definitely going to work well with the flow of your company and will accomplish a lot.

Good for propriety issue tracking

What do you like best about the product?
Jira is used for Agile development in my company. It has beautiful UI and it's powerful for visual display. We can also integrate Jira with GitHub and other development tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
The concepts in Jira are slightly different from the concepts of our common Agile development, which may cause confusion sometimes. For example, there is no exact difference between a story and a task in Jira. At the beginning it's not easy to understand and remember what epics, issues, sub-tasks really mean in Jira.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using JIRA for Agile development, such as feature planning, story refinement, giving story points and so on.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Good for Agile development. But I think training is needed in order to use JIRA correctly and consistently within a team.

A bit of a white elephant in project management

  • July 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The wonderful thing about Jira (as compared to simpler tools like Trello, Smartsheets, or really anything else) is that it literally can do anything. Jira is completely configurable and functions more like a platform for project management than an out of the box project management tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
The configurability is useful, but often overwhelming. At my company we lack a dedicated Jira admin, therefore whenever I want to do anything, it takes large amounts of my time to get everything configured appropriately.

Once I do figure out how to configure what I need (after navigating through 5 layers of navigation to find the page I need), I have to be very careful not to break other's carefully crafted workflows using all of the naturally shared components that are not very clearly marked how shared they are.

When we used Trello, the tool helped me do my job. Now that we switched to Jira, I have to spend time working on Jira rather than doing work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project tracking, time accounting, and high level dashboarding of projects in progress.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Be prepared to dedicate lots of time to administration

Highly Customizable Solution

  • July 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
JIRA is very easy to customize to a project requirements. Managing sprints when building in an Agile framework is hassle free with JIRA!
What do you dislike about the product?
I have used JIRA for project management & defect tracking. Personally I prefer it more as a PM tool than a HD tool because of accessibility for varied user types.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
JIRA exports & reporting plugs in are very useful in measuring project performance.

A must-have tool to track every detail related to tasks and developments

  • July 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's SO powerful! We manage about 10 different departments internal inquiries and the management of the requests is very precise. I love the real-time notifications and the way the various status changes is carefully detailed.
What do you dislike about the product?
Prepare to spend a lot of time to configure the tool, given its big potential, especially if you want to interface it with external environments (we have it send real-time updates to a Zendesk system).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We connect multiple departments and the related inquiries opened to either solve clients issues or to monitor the developments.

Jira

  • July 31, 2018
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Provides a clear and user friendly view of tasks and progress of work done on projects. My colleagues are able to assign task to each other and communicate what we need via the comment section. Adding links to outside systems is also very easy. The methodical approach to completing an assignment, keeps even the unorganized person on point.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface is really dull, like the old google inbox. Work doesn't have to be completely boring. Can we have a option to customize the background color? Also, I do not like that when you click a link in JIRA, it doesn't open into a new page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
My team and I are continuously fixing the college website and JIRA is used to track that work. It makes communicating with out IT people a breeze. We have busy schedules but JIRA keeps everything together.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Use this system if you need to build a bridge between you and your IT members
