Useful for creating automated reports for tracking key metrics
What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful feature of tableau is report scheduling. We use it to update reports automatically on a daily basis (more than once per day every few hours). This way we are able to monitor our key metrics throughout the day without having too much dependency on analysts or someone from tech crunching up the numbers and devoting hours of their time on a repetitive tasks. This way we are able to save a lot of bandwidth of reporting and present the numbers in a much better way to the stakeholders in place of excel charts. Also, the easy integration with multiple sources helps us collate all our data in combined reports and give a holistic view of the performance of the organisation.
What do you dislike about the product?
Tableau is an expensive tool but if you invest in it and use it to a good extent for reports and business intelligence then it pays for itself considering the costs you're saving from having someone work on the reports full time. Also, the reporting does require knowledge of advanced SQL operations which not everyone can do and hence can create dependency on a technical person but it would not be like this in every case as most of the visualisations can be created by drag and drop by even a non-technical user.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use tableau to create reports that refresh automatically. Using these reports we are able to monitor all our customer metrics and we can track and detect issues before things go worse. We check the dashboards daily and use the insights to assist decision making and monitor metrics daily to check the performance of the various business verticals. The best benefit is the easy integration with multiple data sources as all of our data is scattered across multiple tools.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Worth the cost and very useful for helping decision making.

Tableau Desktop review
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau Desktop is a data visualization tool. It is quite easy to create impressive charts, reports using the tool. It can be connected to n number of databases and it can handle huge data to create impressive reports. Any changes will trigger notification and can be managed accordingly. Once business users gets hold of report creation, it is quite easy to use them or with the help of IT, they can setup various reports based on different elements which were not visible in the traditional tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
IT assistance is required sometimes if you really get stuck while connecting with the database.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is ideal for big data where traditional applications such as Excel etc will not be able to cope up. It can be connected with live data such as Share market, and it can give live reporting, trends that are required in the respective fields.
One such example is, everyday several people pass through turns tale and their data gets populated and it is stored in big data. Once the data is available to Tableau, it can generate impressive reports like, how many people went to which location, for what purpose, total time spent etc. Top management/ space management will be able to take decisions based on the reports for better user expereience.

It is meant for big organizations managing big data as it comes with a good cost.
Great Visualisation Software
What do you like best about the product?
The UI is clean and the drag and drop is a pleasure to use. Frequently when I needed to visualise something I could use Tableau Desktop to make a quick mock up and screenshot into my presentation. When building more permanent visualisations for Tableau Server on Desktop the experience was also seamless and provided plenty of additional features which resulted in some overall excellent dashboards.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost does seem a bit excessive especially when using a Tableau Server, I think more alternatives will start to creep up on Tableau that will provide many of its key features at a lower cost but until then will stick with Tableau.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy and quick data visualisation. Tableau's design team have really thought about how the auto-generated charts are made and that cuts time down compared to formatting and tweaking visuals manually. Additionally the ability to create sources of truth that are talking directly to the data by building dashboards for Tableau Server was also a huge time saver for analysts and managers.
Data visuals redefined

Tableau Desktop review
What do you like best about the product?
Easy to use drag and drop interface with advanced capabilities for developing, viewing and customizing dashboards. Very impressive dashboards can be developed and customised relatively easily and actionable insights can be highlighted.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very limited in ETL capabilities, predictive analytics, text analytics
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Helping the business to analyze YoY turnover on their investments by developing dashboards which are easily customizable by the higher management by simple drag-n-drop functionalities and checkboxes.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Have a strong and dedicated ETL team to curate the data before developing dashboards as Tableau's ETL capabilities are very limited.
Awesome reports from Tableau
What do you like best about the product?
The flexibility to create reports from multiple sources.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve might be a little difficult for someone that does not have some basic programming skills.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Providing live detailed reports for upper management that can be accessed via mobile too.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Review all areas that you are wanting to connect too for reporting. Be sure it is set up in a way to created indexes.
Very easy (mostly intuitive) software for data exploration and visualization
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau makes it easy to "play" with data. You can drag and drop variables into different axes, and also sort by, color by, filter by different variables pretty intuitively.
What do you dislike about the product?
Refining figures (changes axes labels/design) is not as intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Tableau chiefly for data exploration. I take a dataset and quickly (in minutes) prepare maps, figures, and tables to summarize results
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I highly recommend use of Tableau for data exploration. After this stage, I often reproduce custom figures in other software such as ArcMap or R. This is also an excellent program for working with students, as they don't have to understand R but can produce figures more effectively than in Excel.
Good data visualization tool with sleek design
What do you like best about the product?
Tableau's interface is better than Power BI in my opinion. The fields are very intuitive, and joining tables is easy to do. Data can come from multiple sources. Dashboard creating tool is well designed. Great options for visualization for data analytics purposes.
What do you dislike about the product?
Publishing to Tableau server can take a long time.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data visualization, data analytics
