Packed with information on apps and supports OpenAI integrations, learning curve is worth it.
What do you like best about the product?
As a Java enthusiast, probably the Microservice or Service view where you can see how a modular application works and which parts it has. As the main undertaker of modernization/migrations efforts for third parties, the App with App dependency overview is also very useful to check and lets you review the network architecture and helps preserving it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is not always easy to get the higher ups to approve the installation of foreign package such as those needed to scan the applications internally, also the learning curve for thi software suite is high.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Extended debugging and teaching us how older applications which have actual convoluted code work. Not every application had been developed with best practices by 2004, and design standards weren't established, which makes this software really useful when analyzing legacy code. We can liberate our older staff which isn't always available and reduce the cognitive load of the app reviewers.
Good tool for code assessment

CAST Imaging - An accelerator for a quick transition & modernization plan of applications
What do you like best about the product?
Imaging is a powerful tool ofr generating the application architecture blue print. This helps in faster transition. Generating these detailed object dependency for large application manually will consume lot of effort and budget.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are still some part of syntax/languages that are still not suppoted by the tool. For that portion, we have to do manual work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Quick understanding of complex applications and faster transition.
CAST Imaging Review
What do you like best about the product?
Provides Application Architecture Blueprints
Shows any Architectural drifts
Quick Impact Analysis across technologies, frameworks , layers
Capability to find out quick root cause analysis on tickets
Ability to provide aplication wide dependencies
Useful for Transition projects

What do you dislike about the product?
Complex graphs to show relationship can take more time for understanding for new subscribers
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Useful for new member onboarding and helpful during transition of applications/products
It was a great experience using CAST Imaging software, it speed up the time to modernize a large app
What do you like best about the product?
provides a complete visualization of the application architecture and components.
What do you dislike about the product?
when you have to many nodes in the same view is a little bit slow.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I didn't have to make the analysis by my own, because automatically analyze the whole code, providing insights and recommendation about relevant details
Love the architecture visualisations
What do you like best about the product?
The way it visualises the architecture and helps slice and dice this across different perimeters and prospectives.
What do you dislike about the product?
Its complex to use, and every application takes its own time to onboard depending on technology stack. Someone needs to have strong technical know-how to understand the results correctly and make relevant business decisions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us solve several issues
1. Review where the code is monolithic and how can we move this into microservices
2. Check impact analysis of making a change to any section of the code
3. Check unused tables and optimise the code base, especially during modernisation
4. Onboard developers faster by having them understand the current architecture

Imaging provides insights to the implemented architecture
What do you like best about the product?
Imaging provides a large varity of views for the implemented architecture, which is so valuable for systems without documentation, or systems with documentation of processes but no technical documentation.
What do you dislike about the product?
It takes quite some effort to learn to scope and set up Imaging, but CAST can support with this. After installation and scope, the system is ready to use, and has a huge knowledge base (online training, help videos etc).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Imaging is the google maps for software systems, so if you know a starting point, and would like to identify all transactions to and from that starting point, Imagining solves this. For a large scale application, Imaging can save you weeks of work, to understand the implemented architecture.
CAST Imaging helps maximize value from portfolio and applications' analysis for modernization
What do you like best about the product?
CAST Imaging leverages the core data produced by the CAST Application Intelligence Platform (AIP). Its ability to support almost all technologies including most of the mainframe technologies and the trending ones like Spring Boot, Spring Batch, mobile and cloud makes it unique among all application analysis platforms. The parser is very efficient and stores metadata which can be leveraged for developing our add-ons for customized analysis.
We are redesigning and developing both the core apps on the IBM mainframe and client-facing applications, as part of a large transformation initiative. AIP with Imaging greatly helps structure this analysis and also produces an execution plan for our transformation. It seamlessly identifies interdependencies across all inter-platform components, helping us derive insights into the sequence in which applications' capabilities can be rebuilt and rewired. One of the frequently used use cases is that for each UI screen, we could gather all, directly and indirectly, related java services and mainframe stored procedures.
CAST Imaging complements it further by helping the analysts annotate and maintain the history of these processes accelerating analysis and reverse engineering. This helps new analysts' onboarding, structured knowledge retention and transition too.

I don't dislike any feature of CAST Imaging.
