Good Alternative for Excel
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is very useful for our organization because it has online capabilities. We had previously been using microsoft office Excel and it was hard to constantly be saving and resaving the document, to me the best thing about smartsheet is that it is live. It has a much simpler interface than anything on microsoft and is much easier to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Every report must have the exact same information as the master sheet. So if you have different reports that would be better suited to have different information, you need to have separate columns where you document it and then only include the necessary columns. Also, each smartsheet line does not have it's own "number" so if you are referring to a line number and then it gets sorted or rearranged, that line number is irrelevant. If you want to give each line a number, you may do so yourself.
You also cannot have a form edit or reference an existing smartsheet line. I get why you wouldn't have that, so people don't fill out your forms and screw up your data, but I often have to manually reconcile duplicative or redundant data that was supposed to go in another line.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We used to have to manually input data from forms and it could be very tedious. The fact that something can be populated on the master sheet is very helpful.
Great project management tool
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets have every feature imaginable, making project sharing and organization as easy as possible. I particularly like being able to move line items from one sheet to another with the click of a button rather than having to copy/paste or re-enter data on separate sheets. Adding collaborators and having a comment section makes it very easy to keep track of correspondence. I also like being able to see all cell history. This has been a great daily tool for our different departments to communicate easily on job status such as project management and permitting. We also have a customer service rep who checks in periodically to see if we need anything.
What do you dislike about the product?
Right now, i have no complaints for Smartsheets. It seems to autosave regularly which was an issue prior to some of the updates.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows me to key in data that updates an entire team of people rather than update each one individually. Comment tagging is also helpful. It allows any of our collaborators to log in at any given moment and see where we are or what is needed on a project.
I have been a Smartsheet User for at 8+ years and it has been a very valuable tool for my business!
What do you like best about the product?
The main thing that drew me to Smartsheet and it best feature in my opinion is how I can customize and control the multi-user expereince with my team. It has really helped my team and I steamline our communication and work flow.
What do you dislike about the product?
I really don't have any dislikes about the features or system istelf. They have continued to grow and improve the features and I have not taken the time to learn many of the new features so I feel like I am way underutilizing the software but I am still paying the full subscription fee.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I run a real estate team and I was looking for a online solution to manage our team leads and for a place for the team to be able to work on their leads and give me real time updates without having to mirco manage the team. I found and built that out in Smartsheet many years ago and it continues to fill the need to this day!

What do you like best about the product?
The triggers that I can set in place for different tasks. It is excellent to set customized reminders that can notify multiple people at once or as needed. It is a great tool. I like how simple it is to export and import data. It really has grown and become compatible with other softwares and programs making it a better tool
What do you dislike about the product?
It would be great if the automation selection had a custom option to enter the trigger rather than selecting from the ones provided only. While they work great in rare cases, it would be helpful to create your own along with the date ranges offered. As you learn the software, there are ways to work with it to get the desired results.
I will say it has come along way, it has become adaptable and relevant with current trends and business needs including the AI features and crossfuntioning; very versitile!

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has been beneficial to stay on top of expiring documents by setting reminders the day of creating; it is easy to fill in the expiration date to get reminders and work on specific details in advance to avoid any gaps or delays. Using the filter to generate reports for particular items is excellent. It is a multifunctional software and it is being implemented across all departments to track, create dashboards, live reports, etc; you name it.

What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to create timelines and shift them as needed. Provides a very visual way to see the project plans.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is no way to link spreadsheets and have them automatically update each other. There is no way to sync it with Asana.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are keeping projects on track and all parties updated on the next steps.

What do you like best about the product?
I like the fact that it is totally customizable and easy to use. It is very similar to Microsoft Office, so the learning curve is much quicker. You can quickly create a GANT chart which is great for managing deadlines. I also like the save feature and the option to export the data to Excel or PDF. You also have the option to import from Excel.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not dislike that much. The only thing difficult is the syntax for creating formulas; sometimes it is easier to do within Excel. More training on the formulas might help bridge the gap

We have centralized all our projects in one place, which has made it much easier to manage across the organization. Projects are completed in a timely manner. We are able to track various metrics across different divisions of the organization.
A great place to collaborate
What do you like best about the product?
Creating a Smartsheet for construction schedules is a great way for the whole team (even those not in the field) to see the progress of the house. It's helpful for the purchasing department.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes there are too many "clicks" to get to the sheet that you need.

We use Smartsheet for construction schedules, open issues, and general excel that need to be shared between several people.

• Cannot lock down sorting
• formulas are a little clunky and long (compared to Excel)
• Only allows 500 rows to be pasted from Excel at a time.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Many, many solved with the help of the experts and the experts seem genuinely interested and excited about solving problems. Very quick solutions when entering questions through the community - this is extremely important.
We have contractors that do not have permissions to access our internal company systems and Smartsheet gives us a way to collaborate with the contractors with a tool where we can set permissions accordingly.

Grateful for the technology
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to organise and share a large amount of data while controlling how it is used.
What do you dislike about the product?
The reluctance of colleagues to respond to update requests within Smartsheet rather than just clicking reply on the email requesting their input. I find this very frustrating and assume they are too stupid and/or lazy to bother learning something new, just because they see no potential benefit from it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Management of data relating to monitoring projects at specific geographical loactions where out products have been used to record, managed and later demonstarte their veracity and success rates in establishing healthy trees in urben areas for the benefit of all who live and work in the areas.

What do you like best about the product?
SS is extremely versatile and can do just about anything. My company actually utilizes it for solutions it isn't even meant for, which is a huge plus. It's flexible in that everything is done through a spreadsheet-like interface, so it's very easy to create reporting, pull info, etc. It's also very intuitive for the most part, with familiar iconography for things like uploading files, and lots of features for various views. My favorite is the calendar view, which does cost more, but it's very affordable. On the whole, SS is quite cheap for what it does. It also integrates with APIs (easy implementation), which is huge, meaning we can use this every day for various needs.
What do you dislike about the product?
For our business, I wish smartsheet had a better interface for CRM. We use it for this, but it clearly isn't meant for it. I wish it also had text suggest in the sheets. You can only have that if you set it up a certain way, so some sheets take more time to work in than others. As we grow, I think we'll outgrow Smartsheet, so I do wish it had more growth to it for bigger companies. We've been using them now for about 5 years and we have to migrate sheets yearly due to overloading the system with too much data. It's not a huge issue but it does mean work takes longer. Also, customer support is pretty awful to try and get a hold of for anything meaningful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We track advertisement placements on our site through smartsheet, which it isn't actually meant to do but does great for our business. We also use it as a small CRM, to keep track of selling pipelines, and for various reports. It helps us get both a bird's eye view and very granular data on every brand we work with, our selling processes, and any roadblocks.
