Amazing product for tracking, displaying and sharing data
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets work great at tracking data and presenting it in an easy-to-read format via dashboards options with charts and graphs. We primarily use it to create forms and track responses. We use the workflow feature to assign tasks for each form response to make sure it's reviewed by the appropriate people and completed. Having a dashboard feature makes it easier to visually share large amounts of data and information. We utilize our dashbaords to have forms, important information/reminders and data all in one snapshot.
Working in higher education, we often have to share data accross colleges and this makes for a much better solution than other options. I like that the data can be shared across teams and that you can manage who has access to specific items.
Smartsheets also offers several different types of pre-built templates that you can utilize instead of starting from scratch. These can be helpful if you can find a version that works for your needs.

What do you dislike about the product?
It does not have quite the same functionality as Excel, so if you are looking to splice your data in different ways, it is not the best tool. Also, I have run into issues with copying and pasting data from excel, which makes for more work to type data out manually. I'm used to pivot tables and quickly adjusting the information so this take a little more time to finesse the information.
Smartsheets also require a fair amount of training to understand how it works. If you are tech-savvy, you will likely pick it up faster than others. Once built out, Smartsheets functions better for those who are less technically inclined. They do have some templates but they are for a very specific purpose and not suited to some of the situations we need. I have been able to use them to as a starting point but it can be cumbersome to edit. It's almost as much work to start from scratch.
At times it does seem a bit clunky but they have been making some small improvements over time. I'm hoping they can allow for additional transferablity of data to/from other sources.

We are now able to create workflows with emails to alert the appropriate people when tasks need completing. Being able to assign different roles to different team members is invaluable.

If you are looking at Smartsheets as a tool for your business, please know that this is a great product for tracking data, assigning tasks and presenting data. I think it works best for those doing more analytical reporting work but it can also be used to collect data and track different types of information.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is incredibly easy to use. For the basic user, it is as easy as creating and editing a spreadsheet. It is also easy to build in workflows and processes without having advanced coding experience. Smartsheet listens to its users and continues to improve their platform. After reviewing several platforms, we found that Smartsheet covered the majority of our needs all within a single platform. Our team members have found Smartsheet very easy to use and implement across their groups.
What do you dislike about the product?
One thing that is incredibly disappointing to me is how segmented it is. The functionality is broken up into different "apps," and each app is an additional cost. So yes, Smartsheet has a ton of functionality with the purchase of all the add-ons. I would prefer an all-inclusive solution!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet for our project schedules, proposal development, PTO scheduling and approvals, and other request management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would advise you to give Smartsheet a try. Sign up one of your smaller teams for a 30-day trial and use it for a specific workflow or process. Also, it is essential to remember that Smartsheet is NOT Excel!! Use the workflows and automation to manage the process. Create reports to pull the data you need and place those reports on a dashboard. The reports are live! Adding items and marking items complete should be completed from within the dashboard, and the sheet itself is essentially the database.
Great tool for timeline management
What do you like best about the product?
It is a great tool that you can use for timeline management and making sure you hit your deadlines on time. It is easy to share, download, and add others to the sheet -- making timelines is so smooth and easy with Smartsheet!
What do you dislike about the product?
I really dislike how in the calendar view, you can't view the entire task name. It just truncates it and doesn't let you wrap the text so you can read the whole title! If this feature was fixed, I would be able to use the calendar feature with my colleagues. Without it, I can't use this feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Smartsheet for timeline management and creation. The platform is extremely beneficial for project management responsibilities. I can create, edits, and access the timeline with ease, which makes me productive when using the product.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend this tool to others if the task name in the calendar view didn't truncate.

What do you like best about the product?
very user friendly. as a heavy excel user, I had no issue using Smartsheet without any prior experience with it. It also keeps everything in records. Whoever and whatever changes are made to a cell, I can easily pull out the history of it.
What do you dislike about the product?
linking cells from two differernt sheets is very time consuming. if Smartsheet can implement something like vlookup to link the cells from different sheets, it will be very very big help to me
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
tracibilities is a big win here. instead of taking notes to record what and when something gets changed, Smartsheet does it automatically. it is also very helpful for internal discussion since the discussion can be narrow down to specific item, issue, or concern, listed on the project sheet.

I don't have the same user satisfaction with any other project management software.

What do you like best about the product?
I love the automation, reporting features, calendar / gantt view, and connector to Jira that Smartsheet offers. The jira integration has removed a lot of manual processes my team used to do. Assigning tasks is also more advanced than other spreadsheet tools. Smartsheet is well put together and fully customizable for a variety of applications. I highly reccommend this tool.
What do you dislike about the product?
I dislike that it can be challenging to get started and learn the locations of features on Smartsheet. Center of Excellence helped a lot, but not all employees at my company have access to it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The ability to plan in Smartsheet with Jira data linked has tremendously helped my team save time and prevent errors compared to our previous manual processes.
User Friendly and Intuitive Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is super easy to navigate, so everyone on our team, no matter their tech skills, can use it without any hassle. The variety of templates is a huge time-saver for setting up new projects and workflows quickly. We love the real-time collaboration features, like comments and attachments, which have really boosted our team communication. The automation tools are great for cutting down on manual tasks and making sure we don’t miss anything important. Plus, it integrates smoothly with other tools we use, like Google Workspace, making our overall workflow even better.
What do you dislike about the product?
While generally smooth, we’ve occasionally experienced lag with larger sheets, which can slow down our work. Optimizing performance for large data sets would be a great improvement.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a sales support manager, I pull data from multiple platforms and elegantly display the results. With Dashboards on SmartSheet, I'm able to do this with relative ease and provide our executive team with the data that they need in a clean and simple dashboard.

What do you like best about the product?
The UI is very clean and straight to the point for Project Management and Task Management functions and features.
The product team is licensing to customer feedback and I have seen a lot of new features and enhancements deployed.
The integrations with Okta and other applications is a plus.

1. Smartsheet simplified MS project environment. Smartsheet has provided our site supervisors who had no real experience in project management software with a tool that is a familiar looking environment that has reduced stress when it comes to reporting.
2. Being able to use Excel formulas in sheets.
3. Collaboration tagging consultants and subcontractors with the comments; the simplicity of this function has given us faster turnaround on questions and responses that are required.
4. Automation has allowed us to plugin collaborative web parts into SharePoint; this has saved us lots of time and is much simplier than using complicated SharePoint calendering functions

What do you dislike about the product?
The filtering of columns lacks functionality; it would be helpful if the filter string were constructed and then just unchecked rather than deleting them all the time. If the functionality was like excel here it would work better.
Printing of large Gantt charts, having some way of specifying a page break and previewing it before printed would be a life changer for me. ;)
Having to pay more money for the activity feature ;)
The automation workflows don't allow us to use the Assigned column, there are times where copying from another column where a specific condition into this field would be handy, allowing for the final part of that workflow to send someone a task or add an activity.
