You get out what you put in

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has a lot of solutions for project management and reporting. We've been able to build out a project management workflow and helpful dashboards for our direct marketing projects. The trainings offered by Smartsheet were really helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
You have to learn how to use smartsheet to make it worthwhile. Taking an intro class online gave me the tools I needed to understand what smartsheet was capable of. I know some folks in my office struggle because you really can do anything with it, so they don't know how to get started. Working with a consultant or someone who knows smartsheet well is a good investment.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows my whole team to know what projects are happening, what needs done, and if we are on time. It also allows us to report to the rest of our office our progress.

Project Management made easy

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has several features that help manage projects - small or large. With a user intuitive design, it's very easy to monitor project progress, set deadlines, create tasks and assign owners. It comes with decent automation possibilities that simplify streamlining workflows and repetitive tasks efficiently. Also helps with collaboration with colleagues or clients with secure permission based sharing capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
The free version gets exhausted quickly and you'd feel that the app is expensive, although it does everything you need for project management. Smartsheet comes with some in-built reporting capabilities but you might feel that it is limited.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is a robust project management tool. It has features, functionality and flexibility to handle small to large scale projects and the things that used to be done in excel sheets can now be more effectively and efficiently done through Smartsheet.

Smartsheet Review

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is an amazing collaboration tool that is easy to navigate, update, and use. Being able to share the Smartsheet amongst colleagues and work on it simultaneously has been incredible. The push notifications are a great feature, as it allows the Smartsheet users to know when there have been changes made, allowing for quick turnaround on tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
When there are multiple sheets being used regularly, it can sometimes be difficult to find the appropriate sheet through the "Browse" feature. The "Suggested for you" page that appears in the home tab is great way to find your most frequently used sheets. However, I do wish it would show more frequently used sheets and update more often.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Smartsheet tool is allowing team members to update, share, and review information from anywhere. We can work simultaneously amongst several teams, using a single Smartsheet and get real time notifications when the sheet is being updated. It makes collaboration easier and more efficient, especially when being used across multiple teams within the organization.

Perfect for project management

What do you like best about the product?
Easily able to drag rows around and track dependencies quickly
Multiple users can work on a sheet simultaneously with minimal fuss.
Sheets are kept simple so as not to distract from the work at hand. Sheet-based data entry makes it quick and simple to add in large quantities of data either by keyboard, or copying and pasting from other documents.
Conditional formatting is robust and simple to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Exporting/importing sheets from Microsoft products can cause difficulty and does not always display correctly, which requires additional time to tidy up and make the data usable. Printing sheets can similarly be an issue due to a lack of desired layouts. It is often easier to copy and paste the data between applications (which is possible to due to the sheet interface of both) than use the import/export functionality.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Keeping on top of aspects of a project when there are parallel activities and the relative completeness of each task vs weighting.
Smartsheet also helps identify where the critical paths are.
Allows everyone to have project visability and be accountable for assigned tasks. Edit rights allow certain tasks to be updated by individuals rather than the burden of maintenance falling upon one individual.

Easiest Way To Organize The Whole Project

  • January 31, 2023

What do you like best about the product?
What I like most about Smartsheet is how it seamlessly combines the familiarity of a traditional spreadsheet with incredibly powerful intelligent work management tools. In my experience, managing multiple client delivery projects simultaneously can get overwhelming, but the platform's portfolio-level dashboards give me real-time visibility into everything at once. I’ve found the integration capabilities to be a massive time-saver, allowing me to connect daily apps like Slack, Google Workspace, and Salesforce without constantly switching tabs. The AI-powered intelligence is another standout feature that helps me analyze complex project data and build tailored solutions, even when I don't have the time to act as a technical expert. Whenever I need to coordinate with different departments, the centralized intake and approval workflows make cross-team collaboration completely frictionless. It has definitely become the backbone of my daily routine, keeping my entire team in sync and focused on hitting our project milestones.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I genuinely enjoy using the platform, there is definitely a bit of a learning curve when you start diving into its more robust capabilities. From time to time, setting up complex intelligent workflows or configuring the advanced resource management tools can feel slightly overwhelming for my less technical team members. I've noticed that getting the custom reporting formulas exactly right requires some trial and error, which might slow things down during the initial onboarding phase. The user interface is generally clean and professional, but occasionally it can feel just a little bit cluttered when you have massive amounts of data and dependencies loaded into a single view. Additionally, navigating their expansive template gallery to find the exact starting point you need can sometimes take a few more clicks than I'd prefer. Overall, these are minor concerns and don’t significantly affect my experience once the initial setup is complete.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before I started using this tool, tracking cross-functional IT and marketing projects meant hunting down status updates through endless email chains and completely disconnected spreadsheets. Smartsheet solves this headache by acting as a single, centralized hub where everyone can instantly see workload balancing, capacity planning, and live task dependencies. This has made it much easier to manage resource allocation and ensure that my team isn't overburdened during critical project sprints. For instance, fixing bottlenecks remotely is now just a matter of glancing at our Kanban boards or Gantt charts and making quick adjustments, which saves us countless hours that used to be wasted in repetitive status meetings. The automation benefits have been massive, drastically reducing the manual effort required to generate progress reports for our leadership team. Ultimately, it has transformed our scattered, manual processes into a highly efficient system, allowing us to deliver reliable results to our clients with much less stress.

Awesome Workplace Tool!

What do you like best about the product?
The user-friendly layout and the simplistic functions. I also love that the site can be accessed from anywhere, as well as that our team can work on the project at the same time.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish there were a tutorial function to get more use out of my subscription. I'm not the most technologically inclined, so I would love a tutorial feature to guide me through all of the customization features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is helping us solve the problem of online file storage. We were looking for alternatives to the cloud and were blown away by all of the features included in Smartsheets, specifically the document and proof features.

Finally an app/program that solved our management issues!

  • January 31, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The simplicity of the concept and the ease of use. Also, the fact that our entire team can edit and view at the same time. We love the comments, the ability to store documents on each line, and the update request assignments.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are a few things we wish we could do, although minor compared to the benefits. A few sheets that we made we wanted to copy over to additional sheets and make minor changes but couldn't. We had to build them from scratch for some reason, which was a little tedious.

Touch-screen compatibility would also be beneficial; it's sometimes harder to scroll on a platform with many lines and columns.

Last, not being able to generate an easy printout of sheets has added steps to what we've needed to do to share info with employees that don't have access to the platform. We want to convert some of our simpler sheets to PDFs that can be shared or printed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our business needed a CRM, sales tracking method, and job profitability tracking all in one place. Smartsheet does that because the master sheet holds all of the client and job info, allows us to send email notes to each other, and the data within the rows translates to formulas showing sales metrics. The data entered also populates fields in other sheets that we share with employees about job performance and profitability.

Smartsheet has allowed our company to centralize and streamline our PMO processes.

What do you like best about the product?
Easy to configure and repeatable processes. Smartsheet University is a good source for learning about the product. A strong and fun Community platform where discussions, questions and answers are available to engage in or just review, whether it's to see what's going on in the Community or for help with solutions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Commonly used features in Excel and Project are not available or are only available via 3rd party or add-on apps. Basic formatting, like column headers, is missing. Creating reports often requires workarounds for commonly needed things. Feature enhancements do not come often enough, and some of the most asked-for features have never been implemented or even addressed/discussed.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet offers a project-centric platform that allows collaboration, transparency, and live data to be shared across the organization and beyond. Previously we had Project Managers working out of multiple platforms. Now we've got everybody aligned on one platform.

A Great Tool for Association Management!

What do you like best about the product?
I love that we can attach documents to each line/record. I can even attach relevant emails, pictures, etc. It's a great way to keep timeline reminders - especially with the automation feature.
What do you dislike about the product?
Detailed Formulas (more than simple math) are NOT for the faint of heart. The new pricing tiers need to be considered when deciding among your team who will be 'licensed'.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Tracking Client Contracts and information that isn't ready to go into a full-fledged database; Timeline for tasks to complete throughout the year; Invoice payment approval. We use SS in almost all of our event registrations and infomation collection. Works beautifully!

Poor performance for managing thousands of requirements

  • January 05, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like how the running log of comments on each row. I also like attaching and linking documents to each row. I also like how you can nest rows in parent rows, and then include parent rows in filters.
What do you dislike about the product?
With 1500+ rows and 5 collaborators, each time another user saves the document, the collapsing and expanding, which leaves reviews with stakeholders impossible virtually, because the SmartSheet reloads and resets the view to the top of the page. Seems like 1500+ rows is the limit of collaboration. Excel SharePoint would have been a better choice for managing requirements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allowed collaboration before we had Excel SharePoint, which was great. Also, linking to other SmartSheets was helpful, but the linking with thousands of rows causes too much friction in the user experience. Our original problem is now gone, with Excel in SharePoint we can more easily collaborate on spreadsheets.
