What do you like best about the product?
My favorite thing about Smartsheet is the ability to accomplish the task in many ways. It allows for a customizable experience that can be built to best suit your work style.
What do you dislike about the product?
Because the product is so open-ended, determining where you should begin can sometimes be daunting. This is not an issue for an individual looking to use this tool on a small scale. For a company-wide roll out, it is critical to task a small group to develop company templates before beginning use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows for a consolidated organizational overview and decision-making processes that streamline what used to require many emails, phone calls, and conversations. Workflows allow for management decisions and documentation of such. The project management tools allow me to keep my complex to-do list in one place with deadlines.
Overall User Friendly & Quite Capable
What do you like best about the product?
I like that SmartSheet is instant; I like that I can see changes automatically. SmartSheets is pretty straightforward, easy to navigate, and easy to keep organized.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say that SmartSheets' biggest downfall is that it's not easy to get information into. For example, without paying an arm and a leg more, we aren't able to really copy and paste from excel into SmartSheets without having to go through quite the to-do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SmartSheets allows for me (The CSR) to enter in addresses for our Outside Plant Crew to add to their schedule to, and then when they are working on addresses, I can instantly see what comments they have and see when an address has been completed and is able to be passed along in our process.
Smartsheets has changed the way we work
What do you like best about the product?
The automation and forms aspect of Smartsheet is just a couple of the things that have helped us revamp the way we work. It has eliminated so much duplicate work and has helped us in a huge way where data consistency is concerned.
What do you dislike about the product?
There isn't much if anything, I can say negatively about Smartsheet. There is sometimes no option to create the automation I am looking for, but that is a very infrequent occurrence. For me, Smartsheet serves its purpose very well.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows the automation to collect follow-up data that in the past was manually followed up on and collected. It is also allowing us to analyze data much more efficiently because of the forms and consistency of data being entered with dropdown options. It also allows a centralized location to be viewed by leadership to see actions being taken and data being collected. It has been a game changer for many of our processes, and as I learn more about it, I'm sure we will utilize it even more.
Helpful with a viraety of tasks
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is easy to use and simple to navigate. Additionally, there is a very good online support community, so any issue that comes up can usually be addressed via searching Smartsheet forums or Smartsheet web site.
What do you dislike about the product?
One side of Smartsheet that can be improved is making it more accessible to no-profit organizations. Currently, it is very project/business oriented. However, organizations like universities, research centers, or community-based organizations could benefit if resources were developed that are not as rigid, in order to adjust to work and tasks that may not fit in a usual "box".
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Benefits of Smartsheet include being able to store information about events and participants in one place, creating efficient registration forms, creating easy-to-navigate application forms, easy invoicing, and easy analysis.
Pretty Smart
What do you like best about the product?
Some of the best things I have used in Smartsheet lend to the fact that everything is cloud-based and can be accessed from anywhere. There is some great automation capabilities built into SS, and i can typically do everything i need to do in there.
What do you dislike about the product?
I mean it's a spreadsheet. There are lots of addins and additional capabilities through forms and views, but i feel it is definitely tailored to lovers of everything spreadsheets (which i definitely am), and you can definitely have too many spreadsheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is more a team-wide solution that we are required to use. I have found other programs that assist me better than Smartsheet (ahem) Clicking Up above will fill you in there. But Smartsheet definitely helps us as a team to make sure that we have projects covered and assists us as we develop future schedules.
Versatile Solution For Sharing Diverse Projects
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to customize the sheets I use and the data I track. I enjoy the ability to create an intake form and create custom read outs from my data and share dashboards that show project progress.
What do you dislike about the product?
Building out reports can be a bit cumbersome at times and having more templates to follow would be helpful. I think having some canned dashboard and intake templates would make Smartsheet easier to approach for people who don't typically use it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SmartSheet solves my organizations issues with sharing data and giving read outs on different projects and efforts. The product has allowed us to create actionable project plans where each participant can see what is expected from them and how much progress has been made.
Quality Document Creation
What do you like best about the product?
I love the functions that Smartsheet automatically integrates beyond a basic spreadsheet. As a project manager, it's a great place to create timelines and basic resourcing documentation. It's easy to use while also giving me a plethora of functionality that's easy to share.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish you could revert to using some standard Excel functionality. It seems like smartsheet exclusively words and functions in vertical columns. There are certain times, like weekly long-term planning, where it would be nice to move the frozen, labeled columns to the left-hand side of the sheet. Because SS has a lot of built in functionality, you sometimes lose the option to personalize things.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
For timelines -- Smartsheet takes key dates, shows me how events flow into one another with dependencies, and quickly converts to a flow chart. The heavy lifting is gone and it's so easy to change and switch.
Simple yet effective
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets is somewhat like a glorified excel doc but better. One of my favorite things when collaborating on a sheet together you can see who the author of that individual cell is, so if there is incorrect info or somthing wrong it can be addressed immediately
What do you dislike about the product?
When copying a sheet for a page template there is no way to remove attachments from the copy. So you would need to go and individually remove each attachment which becomes tedious.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is an all-in-one management software, so it helps anyone become more efficient in their work. We can keep track of costs, estimates, schedules and more all with staying in the same software. Not to many can boast to that.

What do you like best about the product?
It is collaborative; you can decide who can see it, and update it. Because of the notes feature, and the ability to tag using @johndoe, it is easy to delegate from.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Dashboard capability is a bit antiquated and not always easy to figure out...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet allows my team and I to stay connected to each other in one space. My engineers are very busy guys; Smartsheet enables me to update projects and delegate efficiently. All I have to do is tag @ someone. It's a great way for my team to be able to log into ONE program, and see all the projects and/or assignments they need to contribute to, but ALSO, the larger organizational project view. The way it saves and updates things is much more robust than Excel, which is what we switched from. Smartsheets have a bettjer aesthetic look as well, which might seem minor to some, but the ability for my employees to have a bit of creative leeway goes a long way with my team.
Smartsheet for the Win!
What do you like best about the product?
I love being able to use Smartsheet for a variety of different functions. I work in an administrative office in higher education. We use Smartsheet to help with the intake of document signature requests, requesting time off and reporting leave usage, organizing Policy Office data, and much more! I have made Smartsheets for professional functioning and extra functions--talk about an easy potluck sign-up! I love to use Smartsheet Dashboards, as well. I have created many Dashboards to display data utilizing charts and links. I even changed the colors in the Dashboard to match our organization's branding colors, making us look professional. This has been helpful, especially for presenting data to our executive leadership.
What do you dislike about the product?
While I like using the gantt charts, one of the things that I have a hard time with is finding a way to easily print a gantt chart in an easy-to-read format. I have checked the Smartsheet Community where people post questions and help each other, and this is not a problem unique to me.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps us to automate our processes. We can quickly gather information, request updates (on demand, on a schedule, or triggered by another condition), and flow processes together. Reports help us synthesize the information we need, and Dashboards allow us pull the information together in a format friendly for everyone, especially executive leadership. I am starting to serve as a consultant to another department to build an all-encompassing project and portfolio management system for them to utilize. Luckily, Smartsheet has a variety of templates and trainings to help me get started!
