Project Management in Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
I love the flexibility along with the ease of sharing it with customers outside of the organization. I also appreciate the forms you can setup and share for people to fill out.
What do you dislike about the product?
The formulas can be hard to do. I would like for it to be more like excel. The dashboards are also hard to build without making a sheet with stats first. I would also like to make a "workbook" with more than one sheet in it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Gives a good workspace to track tasks and timelines for projects. I like the card view in most cases but have also used the Gantt chart layout a few times too.
Creating PQs and MAFs easily
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to create Price Quotes and Media Authorization Forms. This is something I do almost daily, so having an easy, efficient process to do so is super important. Also, Smartsheet makes it easy to open new jobs - another frequent task of mine.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be hard to find the right page within Smartsheet. So, the navigation process between pages could be improved. My workaround (and I believe that of my colleagues as well) is to bookmark the pages I use frequently for easy access.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me execute various administrative tasks, such as - creating Price Quotes for clients, opening new jobs for external and internal purposes, and creating Media Authorization Forms for clients. Making these tasks easy and quick is important.
Very good tool to keep track of TV show deliveries
What do you like best about the product?
It's very user-friendly and has a lot of customization that allow for a better customer experience. It's good especially for company use as it allows different teams to collaborate together and keep track of tasks.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I search for something and it's in another sheet it lags in the sense that it first opens the new sheet and then I have to re-enter what I was searching for to have it pop up. But it's not a big deal. Overall I enjoy using this product.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows me to track work year over year. I'm able to easily search for what I need and it keeps everyone involved more connected.
Still learning the ropes
What do you like best about the product?
I like how many different ways there are to view information and data in this platform, and it is more intuitive than Excel in many ways. It's also much easier to collaborate with other users.
What do you dislike about the product?
Many features are not intuitive, and I have trouble finding the right functions. Maybe the way I'm using it is not typical, but as someone who has used MS office suite for many years there is definitely a steep learning curve.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is like a nicer version of Excel, and it is much easier to collaborate with others in terms of leaving comments, assigning tasks, setting deadlines, etc. It's also very handy to be able to see things in Gantt and calendar view.
Streamline progress tracking
What do you like best about the product?
i love that i can assign actions to individuals and tract its completion. users will be notified an action has been assigned and can complete and update in one spot.
What do you dislike about the product?
that you need to purchase seat licenses to edit and creat sheets. it snot a major issue just something that can slow down the process if you dont have enough paid seats.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
project tracking for sure. this has allowed us to track actions and hold accountability . it lets us stream line our action lists and increas autnomy.
Great tool for program management!
What do you like best about the product?
I use the Smartsheet views to effectively manage a large program of multiple ongoing projects and issues. I love being able to adapt the views to our team's needs, add notes on each item, and attach documents (such as meeting notes, emails, and excel docs). I also like being able to tag team members to update different line items.
What do you dislike about the product?
I don't have anything I can think of. There's a bit of a learning curve with all the configurations. However, we've found this a lot more suitable than our former Excel-based tracking tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I am using Smartsheet to manage a large program of intakes and issues. It allows our team to track our progress, keep all the balls in the air, and ensure we're staying on track!
The most intuitive, cloud-based project management tool for in-depth and complex projects
What do you like best about the product?
Change is difficult, but the interface of smartsheet has made corporate adoption of the software much more streamlined than if I had chosen another software. The tool is robust but also relatively simple and intuitive to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
Reports feel very limiting and I wish it was easier to use, display, filter, and analyze data from various smartsheets. I have to use way too many 'helper' columns to build in extra info for filtering that I wish was just native to the software.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It's my primary project and portfolio management tool. It helps us track the overall schedule of our various waterfall style projects, while also having the flexibility of running some other documents and templates through the software to keep information in the same location.
Easy to use, Long load times
What do you like best about the product?
I like how easy it is to be able to learn smart sheets and the different methods they give to learn about the software. If you know how to use excel it is an easier transition for sure.
What do you dislike about the product?
The long load times when saving in smartsheets is always a pain. I wish there was a way to just save the cells changed to shorten the saving time. Also autosaves come up at the worst times, it would be nice to have a popup to ask before autosaving.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps us keep track of incoming issues, new projects, new tasks, and tracking our work. It is nice that everyone can see the same information once it has been updated.
Smartsheet is right tool for managing and reporting on my projects

It is easy to use and easy to generate reports and dashboards. As a project manager, I can give my users the necessary view without exposing them to all details.

1) The Dashboard should adjust based on widget size. i.e. if the report is shorted one week, there are big empty spaces.
2) Smartsheet should have a "view all" or "Edit all" (at the company level) type of functionality.
Today, one has to share with new people each time (workspaces, sheets, etc). Creating distribution lists in Smartsheet is not quick either.

- I can manage the project deliverables, timelines, ownership
- I can effectively report on project status showing the right KPIs in a relatively user-friendly view (via Dashboards). However, it could still be more user-friendly/better UI. It gets compared to other solutions (i.e. Asana, Miro) as those "look" better from a management perspective. I do not think they achieve the same but those set the bar for UI/look and feel
- It reduces the information I need to add (when using Control Center). I only use it for initial setup - do not do much for project inflight

A Powerful Tool with Some Limitations
What do you like best about the product?
I like how user-friendly and flexible Smartsheet is for task tracking and collaboration, though some advanced functions feel limited without add-ons.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet webforms are limited — they don’t support multi-line entries in a single submission, and there’s no option to expire a form link after a set number of submissions.

Smartsheet helps us organize tasks, track progress, and centralize communication in one place. It improves team visibility and reduces the need for back-and-forth emails.
