Smartsheet for Automation and Efficiencies
What do you like best about the product?
I love that multiple people can work on the same document at once. I love the automation, the notification and the cell tracking capabilities. I love making forms, and I love being able to import sheets.
What do you dislike about the product?
Very difficult to learn to navigate and learn how to build efficiencies. Most sheets created are inefficient. Learning how to set up is not easy; most people don't use it well. I use it well, but I know there is much more to discover. I wish there were a way to draw a template for organizing a space. Our workaround was to ID a location in a sheet. Another function I think exists but have not mastered is being able to import updates on specific cells alone. I don't know if there is a way, but certainly, I'm lost trying to figure out how.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Visibility is the best outcome of Smartsheet. It allows for automation, notification, and status updates. I estimate it eliminates 80% of useless emails that often are missed or ignored.
Marketing and Communications Manager
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets helps us collaborate as a team. We use it mostly for project plans, event plans, track to-do work and our content calendar for our social media accounts.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is quite expensive which doesn't allow all of us to have multiple usernames and accounts. Some find it it difficult to learn how-to use and share sheets. The learning tools could be more intuitive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team collaboration. Eas one stop shop for our content planning, implementation, calendaring, and scheduling. Also very helpful for anayltics and reporting when the year is done.
Smartsheet has been useful in providing organized team and task management
What do you like best about the product?
SmartSheet is organized and helpful in maintaining an outline of any projects in progress. Fields can be added to cards, color-coding can be implemented and adjusted, and overall it is a great tool for the workplace.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it can be hard to navigate the complexity of the types of sheets, using of filters, logic based on current status of task, etc. Also, as far as I know, each task can only be assigned to one person. It would be helpful to have the ability to assign multiple individuals to a single task.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Team and task management and overall organization with projects and deadlines. Being able to create and customize a workflow, in general, is a massive benefit to my job.
My Experience has been great and organized!
What do you like best about the product?
What I like the best about smart sheet is how easy it is to use and how you can efficiently work with co-workers to create detailed lists/schedules.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would say I dislike that I sometimes have a hard time customizing my templates but I believe that is due to personal training of the program.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is solving the organization of what tasks need to be completed and what the future tasks will be. Along with who is completing what.
I. Love. Smartsheet!!
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has built in so many features that I always wanted Excel to do. Very intuitive! The filters are wonderful as are the conditional formatting! The automations are the best!!!
What do you dislike about the product?
The copying and pasting from sheet to sheet isn't great, but there are so many great things that this is not a huge concern. I really just have no big concerns on what doesn't work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can create the project, tie in the task list, add on a dashboard, share widely, and have the project pretty much run itself. The ease of assigning items and for reporting is just phenomenal.
Easy to organize and update
What do you like best about the product?
I love that we can easily update information and reflect it to others in the group in real-time. It makes data recording with a group so much easier and allows us not to have multiple different files.
What do you dislike about the product?
I think it would be nice to see additional features added in that allow for reporting of the data you plug in. It is a great tool that, with some additional features, could be made even better.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I used to struggle with people editing files and saving them in different locations. It was hard to know what the latest file was. This way, I can clearly track what edits were made and ensure that we are all seeing the most updated information.
Associate project manager
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is like a suped-up version of Microsoft Excel. It allows for a lot of data to be entered and be used for a number of different functions. The flexibility and number of things you can do is most impressive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do agree that not every page and every column always needs to be connected. Sometimes it would be nice to add some kind of widget or the like to the sheets, instead of having to leave a sheet and go to a dashboard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet does a good job of calculating data. Smartsheet does a good job on creating timelines and workflows for project management.
Smartsheet Review - Construction Management
What do you like best about the product?
I enjoy that Smartsheet is very simple and forces you to be concise yet specific with your information. The functionality to convert columns to checkboxes makes mobile use user-friendly when back-checking any open items. Smartsheet is the perfect tool to create lists, trackers, etc. I love that you can indent cells to collapse them under one cell, which allows information to be grouped together but still be able to be filtered. Conditional formatting is also much simpler to use than other programs like Excel. I recently discovered the "Automation" function, making tracking dates much easier. It is incredibly beneficial to keep everything within Smartsheet with attachments, comments, etc. With Excel, you may have all of your information in the sheet but have to go into a folder for a pdf, then another folder for a picture, etc. This helps keep a running log of events with time stamps. With Smartsheet, I have the power to be as complex as I want with my information while still being easily understood by someone who may not be as tech-savvy. I cannot say enough good things about Smartsheet and often recommend it to others.
What do you dislike about the product?
Unless I am just unaware, I don't think there is a way to share a template with someone else. I have created several sheets that can be used from project to project, but to share it with someone else, I have to create a sheet from the template, rename it, share it with the other person, and make them the owner. It would be nice if I could just allow them to use the template themselves. Merging cells horizontally would be nice, but I understand how that would complicate the filtering function which I love. I don't have many bad things to say about Smartsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I have not had a ton of problems with Smartsheet that need to be solved. The website has never been down and always runs smoothly without lagging, greatly improving my efficiency. I can create a checklist in minutes and be checking off items on my phone seconds later. Then, print to pdf all outstanding items and distribute to whoever is responsible. The functionality of smartsheet has allowed me to make myself more efficient and my entire company by implicating the sheets I create across multiple projects. It has allowed me to separate myself from other employees by coming up with new ideas and more efficient ways of doing things.
Smartsheet as a small BI team manager
What do you like best about the product?
We use Smartsheet to track data requests and research projects in our small BI team. I like the card view and lanes that make transitioning between different stages of the project seamless. There are enough options for customization to get what I need out of the product too.
What do you dislike about the product?
Either the ability to add multiple contributors to a project is not easy enough, or the feature needs to be added. I also find it hard to see which task a subtask relates to when breaking down projects into smaller steps. There are some vital features I think should be added.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is helping us keep track of incoming requests and projects within our small BI team. Color-coding helps us keep track of deadlines, and positioning within our card view helps us prioritize tasks.
Extremely versatile but still room for improvement
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to communicate between sheets allows for a huge amount of flexibility. You can create new sheets to supplement the data without disturbing the architecture of the main sheet. Data shuttles are an extremely efficient way to update the data, and dashboards allow you to distill vast amounts of complex data into clear visuals for stakeholders. The ability to switch between data-rich backend sheets with lots of information to more distilled and un-cluttered front-facing sheets means you don't have to sacrifice complexity for clarity or vice-versa.
What do you dislike about the product?
The filters are helpful but limited. You can set AND/OR parameters, but I wish you could set filters for meeting a minimum number of criteria. For example, I track attendance for our professional development sessions. I would like to be able to filter for people who have missed two or more conferences (in other words, a filter that shows anyone who has a blank in at least two out of, say, six columns). Right now to get that info I would have to set an extremely complex filter that accounts for every possible combination of blanks.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps me track a lot of data about stakeholder performance and engagement, as well as managing tasks and workflow for myself and my groups.
