    Insurance

Great for online collab & forms, but missing advanced features offered in Excel

What do you like best about the product?
Forms. No doubt it's forms. The ability for me to essentially have a SurveyMonkey, but then have different automations on it is awesome. Such as auto-email a manager if less than 3 stars is given on a review. Stuff like that.
What do you dislike about the product?
I miss some functionality of Excel. First, - like Google Sheets offers as well - I miss having the ability to have multiple tabs on a single spreadsheet. Second, I find that some of the functionality and logic statements aren't there in Smartsheet such as vLookup, IF, or others...
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Despite being an End User of Smartsheet, my job is Regional Admin of Sales Development CRM. As such, I often need to collect data from a variety of sources, sometimes including to over the 1k employees in my region. Smartsheet is a great way to collect, analyze, and automate data.

Using SmartSheets for project management in a museum setting

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheets is intuitive to use and is extremely flexible. It allows you to customize sheets for a variety of uses. I also really like the conditional formatting option. I use it to give me a visual summary of the state of a project, showing what is late and what is done.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish Smartsheet would allow multiple tabs. I hope it is a feature that they will add in the future.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it to project manage exhibition development at a museum. It allows me to organize who is responsible for what and when it is due. The fact that it is online enables team members to access it from anywhere.

What do you like best about the product?
It's "easy" and the UI is simple. Most anyone can jump in and learn to navigate / use the product pretty quickly. It also has the ability to automate workflows which we have found very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The support team are hit & miss. They are great in that they can immediately pick up the phone and speak to a human and even join a Zoom call in order to screenshare. However, almost 99% of the time they mention they'll open a ticket on your behalf or follow up afterwards, and that never happens. Makes it nearly impossible to follow up on a ticket and you are forced to start from scratch with a new support rep.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We leverage smartsheets to build client-facing dashboards that are easily automatable even with MASSIVE amounts of data, while also being easily accessible to the clients.

What do you like best about the product?
creating links between sheets and reports is great. and giving full visibility between departments has helped us a lot

we have an enterprise account and used the services of the professional team to create a template and sheets that were tailored to us. but things were promised that was never going to work, and will never be able to use as it was programmed due to not being informed of the different levels of access for unlicensed users. i have had to creat most of the process my self which has taken time from my job that i didn't have. the people "helping

solving the issues we have had of lack of visibility from various departments. making sure all aspects of the project are completed and accounted for as well as making sure items are ordered correctly and on time

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to create useful sheets, project charts, and the like. The selection of templates is more than adequate. It can do quite good workflow management which is easier to setup than SharePoint.
What do you dislike about the product?
The document control is somewhat limited
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it for the basic workflow through presales to delivery. I personally use the projectr management capabilities for Gantt charts, risk management and action tracking

What do you like best about the product?
Being a Deployment Manager in the manufacturing industry, Smartsheet enables our project stakeholders to have a customized view of project sheets, which makes it so much easier for them to provide updates, while allowing the project team to maintain governance and protection of data. In addition, the creation of dashboards has enabled us to provide our customers with real-time updates using chart and metric widgets - this means we no longer need to send frequent emails with new updates.
What do you dislike about the product?
There are some limitations with Smartsheet which have meant we have had to re-think some processes. For example, there is a limit of 400 columns in a sheet which means creating forms requested detailed information can be difficult. However, to get around this limitation, I have split our data up into multiple sheets and created one form per sheet.

I would also like to see the character limit in the "notify someone" automation so I can have all fields sent in email notifications.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Until we implemented the use of Smartsheet, we had many processes which were fulfilled by using many different tools and systems, including email. Now that we have many free Smartsheet users in our business, the project team have found seveal areas of the business which have benefitted from implementing Smartsheet workflow tools. For example, we now use Smartsheer forms for the Sales team to book demos for customers, which is then managed through automated workflows. This has increased visibility of active requests and has allowed us to create reporting on bookings.

In addition, we have also used Smartsheet to create a contingency call logging system for our helpdesk, using Smartsheet forms for if/when our BAU logging system is down. The columns have been mapped to allow a quicker back-fill of data onto our system when full functionality has returned.

Great, versatile software

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that is is highly customisable, making it extremely versatile, and allowing for various uses.
Reporting and dashboards are a really powerful function of Smartsheet
What do you dislike about the product?
There is quite a large learning curve for the less tech savvy.
The software can also become quite costly if you want to utilised many more of the features.
There are also some drawbacks, but there are workarounds for these (e.g. allows someone to delete rows on a sheet, with no way of preventing).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet was initially used as an online alternative to shared spreadsheets.
We realised that there are significantly more features than a spreadsheet, and that smartsheet is a really powerful tool.

What do you like best about the product?
Having the option of automatically sending a notification email to any user specified in a sheet is the most useful feature for me. In addition having the possibility of creating a form and sheets that are automatically filled based on the responses from the form is also very useful in our line of work.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that Pivot functionality is not available in the basic package option and has to be purchased separately is a big bummer for me. The option of having additional tabs under 1 sheet would be also somthing that the smartsheet team should think about.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartfleet allows for the possibility of having several tasks and notifying those users on a weekly/monthly depending on the conditions set. This increases my productivity by making my work more efficient, me not having to send several reminder emails.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is useful for collaborating with my colleague and clients in one place, at my company we usually use it for hosting systems which contain our documents.
What do you dislike about the product?
I feel like there is not anything that stands out which I dislike about Smartsheet, maybe a way to incorporate the dashboard and sheets to aid visuals. I also find it hard sometimes to navigate between workspaces and projects when trying to combine them
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is solving our issues with keeping documents in one place online for all members of our business to use especially useful for consultancy documents and templates.

The best combination between old school and new ways

What do you like best about the product?
It's a cloud and collaborative tool, very friendly with Google Apps, in which we can use comments and attach files from Google Drive in order to work from the office, home or even the smartphone and with different timezones. In addition, it doesn't only offer the power of sheets, with tasks, dates, baselines, costs and assigned people, else it allow take advantage of that information to construct reports and dashboards updated automatically from those sheets. Finally, we can also to be up date getting emails and notifications about changes, to speed up information and decisions.
What do you dislike about the product?
Howerver, I'd like to be able to define more than one baseline, undo the last changes even I've saved them and manage different versions of the same sheet. It's impossible recover a previous version of a sheet only with a few cliks and that is very importat in a collaborative tool like this.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We can share the schedule and budget for projects in a only place, saving emails and meetings with comments.
