An Essential Tool for Collaboration and Integration
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet stands out as an incredibly comprehensive project management tool, which truly shines for its ability to integrate different workflows in one place. For me, the main advantage is the synergy it creates among teams; instead of using several disconnected tools, everyone can work in the same environment, with full visibility of activities, deadlines, and resources. This eliminates duplication of efforts, reduces errors, and speeds up decision-making, as the information is always up-to-date and accessible to all team members.
What do you dislike about the product?
One area for improvement would be the initial learning curve for new users. Although the interface is powerful, the number of features and options can be a bit intimidating for beginners. I suggest a basic and quick review for new users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The main problem that Smartsheet is helping to solve is disorganization and lack of visibility in projects. Previously, communication and task tracking could be fragmented across emails, separate spreadsheets, and instant messages. This resulted in loss of information and difficulty in knowing the real status of each activity. Now, with Smartsheet, all project information is in one place.

What do you dislike about the product?
Slow loading times, Table view is missing features that grid view has.

It helps to have everyone in the company on the same page.
Helpful for task management, very much a learned skill
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has provided us a=with an effective task management tracking system, from simple cleaning/maintenance logs to full-scale strategic plans. It has been easily accessible for all staff through the creation of forms, and has been rolled out throughout the company for daily use.
What do you dislike about the product?
In the corporate space dominated by excel and Google sheets, it has taken a while for us to get our heads around new technologies and learn how to use them effectively. In sharing these sheets with external providers, it can also pose an issue from a familiarity perspective.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is helping us streamline tasks and workflows as well as create a more user-friendly and collaborative space to develop plans and budgets.

For research teams, Smartsheet provides a centralized space to track milestones, manage data collection timelines, coordinate manuscript preparation, and monitor grant deadlines. Collaboration is a particular strength—multiple users can edit in real time, add comments, and attach files, ensuring that data, notes, and updates are accessible to the entire team. Integrations with tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and cloud storage services also streamline communication and document sharing. For academic researchers juggling multiple projects, collaborators, and deadlines, Smartsheet helps transform unstructured work into clear, trackable progress. It reduces reliance on scattered spreadsheets and email threads, ultimately improving accountability and efficiency.

While Smartsheet is a powerful tool for organizing research projects, there are some drawbacks for academic use. The cost of a subscription can be a barrier compared to free alternatives, and setting up advanced features comes with a learning curve that may feel excessive for smaller teams. Smartsheet is also not designed for data-heavy tasks like statistical analysis or reproducible workflows, meaning other tools are still required for core research activities. Its reliance on internet access can be limiting, and collaboration with external partners may be inconvenient if they need accounts or licenses. Finally, version control is less robust than platforms like GitHub or Overleaf, which can be frustrating when managing manuscripts or code.

Smartsheet helps me organize complex research projects in one place, making it easier to track deadlines, coordinate with collaborators, and keep everything moving forward efficiently.
First time using smartsheets!!!!
What do you like best about the product?
I love the color coordinating and the streamlining capabilities that smartsheet has.
What do you dislike about the product?
It is my first time using smartsheet so i will say it is not very user friendly. It takes a while to adjust to all of the features that smartsheet offers. Navigating the pages is a little hard.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Collaborating with different teams and departments can be time-sensitive and SMartsheet has allowed for seamless updates and communication.
It's a powerful tool with a lot of possibility, but it can be challenging to learn it all.

Smartsheet is incredibly versatile with many different ways to create schedules, visualize tasks, and build very specific calendars.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI is not entirely intuitive sometimes and the overwhelming amount of options can create friction for users starting out.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet assists heavily with scheduling and assigning tasks for people on specific days. It also allows us to track when training or certifications are due and visualizes it neatly for anyone to identify gaps.

What do you like best about the product?
We use smartsheet as our main project flow chart, to be able to see clearly how far into a project we are and where we're meant to be in a simple bar graph makes it quick and easy to explain our goals to our team

I would like to see a view only mode. away for people to view like sheets without interacting with them

Time management and scheduling, communications across current and future projects as well as estimating for project as where we are with production times
Smartsheet has everything you need and nothing you don't
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is very straightforward while also powerful. You can be up and running in minutes. If you want to add complexity, the sky is the limit. In one word, it's efficient.
What do you dislike about the product?
The cost is confusing. Signing up as a single user is easy and straight forward. Once you start adding team members and those team members of various needs in terms of tasks and access levels, the way it get's charged gets confusing.

Streamlined Team Collaboration with Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
I love the Smartsheet dashboard, which helps me stay organized with the different sheets I've created and allows me to share data for all studies with our team during weekly calls. I also like that Smartsheet has different features for presenting data when organizing tables for our studies. It makes sharing spreadsheets and documents easier with my team and helps us update shared documents efficiently.
What do you dislike about the product?
I believe exporting data into Smartsheet took me some time to figure out. Maybe creating a smoother transition if we are moving data from Excel tables or Word documents into Smartsheet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps organize team tasks, meeting notes, and data for studies. It allows for sharing and updating documents seamlessly. The dashboard keeps everything organized and enables easy data sharing during meetings.
I like the idea of smart sheet and believe it can do many things that people are unaware of.

How the main cell cannot be edited. How you cannot merge rows and columns together.
