Great Project Management Tools, but Collaboration Needs Improvement
What do you like best about the product?
It's got some great project management tools, and it's helpful to organize all the facets of a project into one (or many) spreadsheets
What do you dislike about the product?
It not super easy to collaborate sometimes within a project
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our organization has many projects moving forward at the same time, as well as many marketing and communications posts that we need to keep a calendar for, and Smartsheet is great at both of those things
Streamlined Workflows and Real-Time Collaboration with Powerful Dashboards
What do you like best about the product?
From asset monitoring to data tracking and reporting, setting up a spreadsheet where everyone can submit ideas for business improvement—and assigning these to the appropriate teams for follow-up—proves to be highly effective. These templates simplify the process of building structured workflows, so you don’t have to start from scratch. I also find the featured dashboards extremely useful, as they allow for the creation of clear, interactive, and visually appealing displays that make it easy to track progress and present key information. Furthermore, the automation and collaboration tools enable multiple teams to update data in real time, which greatly boosts both efficiency and transparency. It’s similar to Excel, but more interactive, packed with additional features, and much easier to use. We rely on it every day.
What do you dislike about the product?
Integration with other software can be challenging, and the interface feels quite restrictive. Setting it up isn't always straightforward and requires significant training to become comfortable with it. However, once you get used to it, the system becomes very intuitive, and you may not want to switch to anything else.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Asset tracking, team collaboration, and real-time reporting are all supported, providing a comprehensive overview of the business through the dashboard.

Makes creating dashboards and arranging data very easy. The system is well-structured and creating new sheets for varying uses is straight forward.

Loading times and some issues with saving sheets.

What do you like best about the product?
What I like best about Smartsheet is how it has become the indispensable central hub for our entire workflow, a tool we rely on daily. Its remarkable ease of use is the standout feature; the slick and fast user interface feels as familiar as a spreadsheet but is packed with powerful project management capabilities that the whole team can adopt quickly. This platform excels as both a team resource for internal collaboration and a client resource for external reporting, allowing us to create dynamic dashboards and set specific permissions to keep all stakeholders perfectly informed. Furthermore, the system of real-time updates and intelligent notifications is crucial, ensuring every team member is automatically alerted to key changes and deadlines, which keeps our projects moving forward with absolute clarity and precision.

While Smartsheet offers robust collaborative features, its main disadvantages lie in its complexity and pricing. The platform presents a notably steep learning curve for tasks beyond the basics, as its distinctive formula syntax and automation workflows are not as user-friendly as those found in traditional spreadsheets like Excel. This difficulty is further intensified by a costly per-user pricing structure and pricey premium add-ons, which can hinder workflow efficiency and make it expensive to expand a team. Furthermore, when managing highly complex projects, the interface can become crowded with numerous rules and columns, and its abilities for data analysis or visualization are limited compared to more specialized tools.

Smartsheet solves the critical business problems of scattered information, poor communication, and time-consuming manual tasks by consolidating everything into a single, collaborative platform. This benefits our team by providing a real-time "single source of truth" for all project data, which enhances visibility and accountability. Ultimately, through powerful automation and streamlined workflows, it significantly boosts our overall efficiency and ensures projects stay on track.
Great Templates and Dashboards, but Limited Data Analysis in Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
The most useful aspect of Smartsheet is its wide range of templates that can be used for different purposes. From project monitoring and to data tracking and reporting. These templates make it easy to set up structured workflows without starting from scratch. I also find the featured dashboards extremely valuable, as they allow you to create clear, interactive, and visually appealing dashboards that help track progress and present key information effectively. I would add as well its features about automation and collaboration which allows multiple teams to update data in real time
What do you dislike about the product?
While Smartsheet is very useful for organizing and tracking projects, its data analysis and organization capabilities are quite limited. The platform lacks advanced features such as proper pivot tables or more flexible data categorization options. Even compared to basic Excel functions. It can also be difficult to organize and structure large sets of data efficiently within sheets. Additionally, while the form feature is easy to use, it offers very few customization options and limited interaction with users. The forms could be more dynamic and flexible to collect richer and more engaging inputs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Although Smartsheet was already in use when I joined the organization, I’ve seen how it helps manage multiple projects and keep everything organized in one place. It makes it easier to track activities, monitor progress, and consolidate data from different teams without relying on multiple spreadsheets or emails. The dashboards and templates also help visualize results and support better reporting, which is very useful for project performance and monitoring work.
Easy Integration with Powerful Automation
What do you like best about the product?
I find Smartsheet very easy to set up, which really streamlines our work processes. It saves us a lot of time by automating processes that would otherwise consume our efforts. People spend less time on spreadsheets because their time is saved through Smartsheet. Additionally, the ease of learning Smartsheet has led to a high rate of adaptation among our users. It was incredibly easy for us to install and properly configure Smartsheet in about two weeks.
What do you dislike about the product?
It's a bit expensive, and also the support is not so responsive. So sometimes you have to wait for the support.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Smartsheet to automate my processes, saving time and reducing spreadsheet work. It's easy to learn, making adoption quick and efficient.

Most friendly GUI ever used before. Thank you.

Lot of messy options in the GUI and sometimes too slow response.

Great for Managing Deliverables Across Teams and Orgs
What do you like best about the product?
Allows for excellent and easy management of deliverables and timelines across different teams and organizations.
What do you dislike about the product?
Can be a little daunting for new folks with all of the features and UI.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It solves the complexities and potential opportunities to miss things that using something like only e-mail when managing the review of deliverables and projects. By having a single, live, one-stop shop for all of these things, it allows us to manage our projects easily and with full transparency.
Great Collaboration, but File Access Issues
What do you like best about the product?
It's easy to collaborate with other team members, and it's intuitive

We had some problems with the access to some files, maybe it was how it was set up on our end

Resource workflow in an advertisement agency, it's easy to visualize and have a good understanding of the status on the team
Great Collaboration, But Excel-Like Formulas Are Frustrating
What do you like best about the product?
I really appreciate the collaborative features it offers. Tagging other users is simple, which makes it easy to notify them about issues, tasks, or activities they need to handle.

The formulas and how it acts like excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As I mentioned before, the collaboration features are extremely useful. We've been able to keep track of our project plan, RAID log, cutover items, and other essential work items that are critical to the success of our project.
