SmartSheet automations are great!

What do you like best about the product?
I’m a very happy Smartsheet user! This platform has significantly improved the way I manage projects and collect data. One of my favorite features is the ability to auto-collect information directly into the tabulation columns via automated forms—it saves so much time and reduces manual errors.

I also love how I can maintain a milestone checklist directly under a specific entry, keeping everything organized and easy to track. The conditional formatting features are incredibly helpful for highlighting key information at a glance, and the summary feature makes reporting on metrics fast and simple.

Another standout is the document generator—it’s a game-changer for automating repetitive processes like certificate creation. It’s incredibly efficient and ensures consistency.

The row-level automations and data sharing capabilities further enhance collaboration and reduce the need for constant manual follow-up. Overall, Smartsheet has become an essential part of my workflow, and I couldn’t be more satisfied.

Highly recommend to anyone looking for a flexible, user-friendly project and data management solution!
What do you dislike about the product?
I miss the ability to type info in the top row to go directly to the entry I am looking to edit. I find myself scrolling for hours and I do not like the 'find' feature.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It lets me create audience-specific reports from a master sheet, so the information is always relevant and up to date—without needing to update multiple individual sheets.

SmartSheets - Stay Organized Strategically and Efficiently

What do you like best about the product?
I’ve really grown to love using SmartSheet. At first, there was a bit of a learning curve as I figured out how to make the most of its features and functionality. It wasn’t until I watched a few YouTube tutorials and attended SmartSheet office hours—highly recommend those, by the way—that I was able to create a template that truly worked for my needs.

What I appreciate most is how intuitive it is to track where a task or project stands in the cycle, how many days have passed, and whether you're on track to meet your goals. You can also tag and assign tasks simply by entering someone’s email, which automatically notifies them—a great feature for keeping teams aligned.

SmartSheet has played a key role in helping me grow my team, streamline our workflows, and consistently meet deadlines. It’s become an essential tool in how I manage my work—I honestly couldn’t do my job without it.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can be challenging to learn all the features and functionalities at first, but once you're familiar with them, the possibilities are endless.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
SmartSheet has been a game-changer for organizing all of my projects, tasks, and milestones in one centralized location—accessible to both my team and our director. It helps us clearly track key milestones, manage due dates, and sends automated alerts when a project is at risk of falling behind.

Another great feature is the ability to build custom dashboards for quick, high-level views of project status.

SmartSheet has significantly improved how we work as a team. It’s helped us stay organized, on schedule, and consistently deliver projects on time. We can easily share real-time updates by sending out a SmartSheet link, allowing both internal team members and external collaborators to see the progress we’ve made at a glance.

What do you like best about the product?
My entire use of the tool is built on the easy of creating good GANNT charts and the intuitiveness of the parent/child categories.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've struggled to get buy-in organizationally because the views are difficult for users not savvy in sheets.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use it to layout budgets and plans on marketing projects.

What do you like best about the product?
The fact that it is so easy to use and attach files that are related to a project, make it very user friendly.
What do you dislike about the product?
I have no complaints so far, however, as I continue to use it and diversify the applications of my reasons for using it, I may come up with issues or suggestions of what I would like to see.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using Smartsheet to keep ourselves organized with new product launches and all that is entailed in order to complete the launches.

Definite learning curve from Excel, but worth the effort in the end

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is a great way to collaborate across teams. As a global company, Smartsheet makes it easy to update teams on progress, consolidate conversations, and share documents. I mainly use Smartsheet as a tool to track progress with creative assets and there are many functions embedded that make it easy to update all teams, including easy-to-create dropdowns, easy commenting capabilities, and simple ways to switch views to best accommodate your style of work.
What do you dislike about the product?
As an avid Microsoft Excel user, there is a definite learning curve transitioning to Smartsheet. It takes awhile to switch the frame of mind from "I have to input everything exactly" to having the product be more user-friendly.
There are a few features that I wish were more user-friendly on the web-based version of Smartsheet including a more functional zoom feature and easier filtering capabilities. The inability to zoom besides using a CTRL + or - on your browser is a frustrating feature. Additionally, it would be a lot more user-friendly if filtering functioned more like MS Excel.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet is making it easy to collaborate and send updates on progress for projects. It makes it clear to those who are working on the project what the status is of the different areas and what is expected of them.

I love smartsheet and use it for everything!

What do you like best about the product?
I love how easy it is to custom format each sheet, move cells around, add notes, and color code.
What do you dislike about the product?
When I link to Resource Management, sometimes the system will add an Allocation % (2) column out of nowhere and I will have to relink / delete the extra column for it to load properly.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps my team figure out how much each creative resource is allocated on a project, which helps us decide who is available to take on new work. I love how you can make each sheet collaborative with other departments so they can access the timelines in real time (as things change).

Smartsheet is like Excel on steroids

What do you like best about the product?
Upsides include ease of use and adaptability. There are so many great visual reporting options and selections that your workflow can rise to another level.
What do you dislike about the product?
The fact that there are so many options within Smartsheet is more of a challenge to learn all the functionality. But this is still a positive.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The fact that it can create incredible visual Dashboard reporting and statistics for our key stakeholders is priceless.

Useful but not user friendly

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the filter features and data report features. The sharing capabilities are very helpful for a large team to work together at once.
What do you dislike about the product?
Navigation is difficult for first-time users and it does not mirror Microsoft Excel so anyone transitioning over may find it difficult. There is also not a copy/paste option to take lines from one Smart Sheet to another which would make mirroring data more convenient than the existing use of the vLookup.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Smart Sheets have eliminated multiple excel spreadsheets taking up data storage. The Smart Sheets have also created a central location for all files, instead of having multiple file folders in multiple drives. This makes it very easy to share and grant user access.

Smartsheet is an excellent tool for sharing spreadsheets and other information.

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet allows multiple users to access and edit information simultaneously.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet requires a lot of training, even for experienced Excel users. I'm not sure why the columns can't be lettered like Excel. It makes creating formulas more confusing than it needs to be.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The Dynamic View function allows me to choose specific information for each local manager to see. For payroll purposes, it keeps regional salary numbers private.

Great tool, but with room for improvement

What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet is a versatile project and work management platform that combines the ease of a spreadsheet with the power of modern collaboration tools. What really sets it apart is its flexibility—whether you’re managing a simple to-do list or coordinating a complex project portfolio, Smartsheet can be tailored to fit your team’s needs.

Its spreadsheet-like grid makes it especially easy for Excel users to get up and running quickly, while features like Gantt charts, card views, and calendar views offer different ways to visualize and manage your work.

Collaboration is another area where Smartsheet shines. You can tag teammates, set reminders, and control who can see or edit your sheets, creating a shared space that keeps everyone on the same page. Plus, it integrates smoothly with tools like Google Workspace, Microsoft Teams, and Slack, so you don’t have to change the way you already work to stay productive.

The platform’s automation features are also a big plus. You can build workflows that trigger actions—like sending alerts or updating task statuses—without writing a single line of code. These automations help reduce manual work and keep your processes running smoothly.
What do you dislike about the product?
Testing & Debugging: There’s no sandbox or testing environment for automations. Structural changes to sheets can unintentionally break workflows, and there’s currently no way to preview or simulate those impacts.

No backup available: Smartsheet does not provide a recovery point for sheets, even in the paid plan.

No IA integration: I believe we could have some IA companion to help us with data analysis and formula creation.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Smartsheet helps us to track our tasks and to share the hand-off emails to our suppliers by just changing the status on a cell. Smartsheet automations are brilliant and help me to save lots of time each day.
