Honest review of Smartsheet
What do you like best about the product?
The ability to easily share sheets with other colleagues in my company. The way that the sheets are stored in the main user interface.
What do you dislike about the product?
There's a bit of a learning curve with how to exactly manipulate the data to filter/show what you want to share. I also don't like the the comments apply to an entire row. I would prefer to be able to add a comment on a cell basis instead of a row basis.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It allows for an easy visualization of timelines to share with colleagues.
We also utilize it for data tracking. It's great to be able to take the data and put it into a dashboard to share the information in an user friendly way.

Helps organize many detailed projects
What do you like best about the product?
Most helpful is being able to organize and share Sheets with varied permissions with external users. The comment/attachment and color coding is very helpful. Being able to create a template Workspace and cloning it is very easy and repeatable.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do a lot of rearranging so being able to more easily drag and drop Grids / reports/folders would be very helpful. I also dislike some options only being available from some places. For example, I can rearrange the folder if I click out to view all workspaces, but not when i'm within the folder. Same with updating the Workspace colors and logos. I can only do that by clicking right in the Workspace high level view.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Smartsheet to organize our projects to implement our loan origination software.
Well designed but unless every user is engaged, it won't work.
What do you like best about the product?
I like the ability to outline a project and assign due dates, process owners and tasks. This makes project management easy to use and, if all participants are required to use it, it is easy to implement and frequently used.
What do you dislike about the product?
Smartsheet can become overcomplicated quite quickly. Obtaining an 'at a glance' or 'high level' view is difficult for very large projects. Additionally, deadline extensions are made without requiring justification which is a requirement for project managers to ensure the project remains on the expected completion target date.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Project management is my primary use of Smartsheet and it benefits me by outlining projects, assigning due dates and responsible personnel, and overall managing projects to ensure they are completed on time.

It is helping to streamline my teams project management, saving us time and enabling us to track projects effectively, not losing sight of deadlines.

What do you like best about the product?
Our team designed a process to auto ingest a smartsheet into our DWH simply by adding a prefix to the sheet name (using the API, Python and Parqet files).
We also designed a process to auto export tables from our DWH into Box or OneDrive (which then pairs well with Smartsheet's data shuttle).
This essentially gives us an interface where we can loop data from our DWH into a Smartsheet UI where we can then manually edit some columns alongside that data, and then feed that data back into our DWH. The custom alerts is awesome how it integrates with slack and email. This product really enables tons of innovation.

1. Enable data shuttle directly from Snowflake (to not need to export to csv)
2. Vlookup and Data Shuttle should work on every instance of the identifer, not just the top record
3. The Primary Key column should allow formatting like any column, I often don't use it for that reason.
4. I wish the edit experience for views wasnt only on the side.
5. The cost of adding data shuttle precluded a smaller consulting firm from adopting smartsheet.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
too many to describe them all. I am a heavy user at a very large asset manager in charge of Alernative Investments. We have fully integrated smartsheet into our Data Warehouse as an interface and it's incredibly enabling and therefore poses a threat to competitors that Smartsheet probably doesnt even consider competitors (e.g., DealCloud, iLevel) . Smartsheets has a much easier web interface that is quick to edit than competitive tools. I would be happy to discuss more about our use case live, we have done some creative things. 702.271.8987

UI can be a bit cumbersome at times when trying complex maths or time tabling
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We have many external clients from all over the world. Smart sheets assist in keeping but us and our clients informed on where each task in a project is and who is responsible for it.
Great way to automate workflows!
What do you like best about the product?
The excel feel and functionality is a friendly aspect of Smartsheet. I think it makes the platform approachable but what makes it really special is its ability to automate notifications or data off of the forms or sheets that you have created.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do not like what feels like random limitations of the platform. For example, there is a row limit or if you are the owner of the sheet you get responses from people who reviewed an automation from your sheet. These are just examples of how randomly the system feels outdated even though it can connect to your data warehouse.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to use data from other platforms and bring them into Smartsheet, this way our teams do not have to Frankenstein multiple sources to get access to what they need.

A handy smartsheet, you can update your project tracker anywhere, anytime.

getting everyone on the same page and one's everybody is align, you will achieve the goal of the company
Smartsheet is excellent software.
What do you like best about the product?
Smartsheet has greatly helped us keep task of estimates, sales, projects and purchasing. We have been using Smartsheet for over a year and while we routinely have to make adjustments to some of our sheets, it seems every slight tweak further helps us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Without patience and time some of the sheets can be complicated to make work but can eventually be created to function.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Reducing paper and the ability to share sheets allows other departments to utilize the sheets to help them.
