Easy Reporting and Automations That Keep Teams Focused
What do you like best about the product?
Reporting and automations are easy to setup and filter so you can focus on specific areas that are important to your business or send info to other teams that is relevant to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
Not all configuration items have moved to the cloud portal so there is still some switching between the on-prem collector and cloud portal.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Finding sensitive files that can be accessed by more users than they should be
Powerful platform with a learning curve worth climbing
What do you like best about the product?
What stands out most is the visibility Varonis gives us into where sensitive data actually lives and who has access to it. It automatically discovers and classifies PII/PHI across our file shares and cloud storage, and surfaces overexposed data and excessive permissions that we'd never catch manually. It's turned a reactive process into a proactive one for us.
What do you dislike about the product?
Initial deployment and tuning are resource-intensive, especially in a larger or more complex environment. Getting the platform fully integrated, baselined, and producing high-signal alerts isn't a quick exercise — it took us several weeks of focused work plus support from professional services to really hit our stride. Worth it in the end, but be prepared to invest the time upfront.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before Varonis, we had limited visibility into where sensitive data lived and who could access it across our file shares and cloud storage. We knew we had overexposed data and stale permissions, but cleaning it up manually wasn't realistic. Varonis gave us a clear picture of our exposure and helped us systematically remediate it — locking down global access groups, removing unnecessary permissions, and moving toward a true least-privilege model. The benefit is a measurably smaller blast radius if an account is ever compromised.
Strong Integrations That Simplify Review and Remediation
What do you like best about the product?
There are a strong number of integrations available for both on-premises and cloud-based assets, which makes it easier to handle review and remediation.
What do you dislike about the product?
The interface can feel slow at times, and the email customization options are limited and lacking in features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They’re helping us move away from bad practices from the past, while also informing our user community about potentially better methods for doing their work and sharing their results.
Streamlined Our Internal Pentest and Saved Us Hours
What do you like best about the product?
It has been great having to help us with our Internal Pentest correcting things that would take us forever to do or having to hiring more associates in order to complete.
What do you dislike about the product?
Well, so far, we have not found anything with the system that has been a downside at all.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It helps us get our system corrected from issues found by the Internal Pentesting without hiring additional associates to do.
Automated Data Discovery and Real-Time Threat Detection Across the Enterprise
What do you like best about the product?
The platform automatically discovers, classifies, and protects sensitive information across our enterprise. It helped us identify stale user accounts, over-exposed permissions, and it reports on who is accessing what data, when and from where. Varonis has also helped detect and respond to threats in real time.
What do you dislike about the product?
We have not found anything to dislike about the platform.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
They have helped us improve our data security posture by accurately discovering, classifying and labeling sensitive data in our environment.
Robust Data Security Made Easy with Stellar Support
What do you like best about the product?
I use Varonis Data Security Platform for monitoring and securing our data, and for monitoring and preventing ransomware, which helps us protect our most critical IP. I find it incredibly valuable for solving the data sprawl that happens today, as we have data on-premises in file servers, in Office 365, and in CoPilot. Varonis extends our management and visibility of data across these platforms. The platform’s support is absolutely fantastic; they are always ready and willing to help with any of my needs and projects. It isn’t just a platform but a team of highly talented people who come alongside and help with all of our needs. The initial setup was very easy with assistance at every step of the way. I prefer Varonis over Netwrix because it combines monitoring with the ability to act and resolve, making it a more comprehensive solution for us. Also, we have successfully integrated Varonis with many of our applications, although better integration with the Atlassian suite of tools would be beneficial.
What do you dislike about the product?
More AI integration will be needed as time goes on. It isn't really so much as an improvement, but expansion of capabilities and platform integration. We could use a better integration with Atlassian suite of tools.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Varonis Data Security Platform to monitor and secure our data, prevent ransomware, and solve data sprawl across various platforms. It extends our management and visibility, offering protection for our critical IP.
Varonis Saves Months of Compliance Work with Powerful Keyword Search and Helpful Support
What do you like best about the product?
Varonis is an amazing plaform as long as you full use it iand roll it out. It have saved us months of work withthe changes to regulations and its ability to find key words. With it fully rolled out we now have better control over where sensative documents are stored. The support staff have always been increadbly helpful in designing the queries and gettng out the data we needed.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish the security settings were a little more granular so we could give more staff the ability to search without having to involve IT.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It has allowed us to quickly know where our data is. We’ve automated the process of making sure sensitive data isn’t spread throughout our file shares, and if the system finds it, it can automatically move it to a more secure location. The interface is easy to use and very responsive. The support staff for the product are amazing and extremely helpful.
Actionable Alerts and Eye-Opening Insight Into Overexposed Data
What do you like best about the product?
Varonis allows us to see alerts we can act on right away, instead of flooding us with low‑value alerts that rob us of time. Through Varonis it is eye opening to see the amount of data we initially had over exposed which would have gone unnoticed or remediated without the insight.
What do you dislike about the product?
Implementation in large environments can be difficult and time consuming. Large data sets just take a long time to scan. Also, with tools like this there needs to be care and feeding, and tuning for false positives.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Varonis immediately solved the lack of visibility problem we had with internal users and CoPilot prompts.
Easy Onboarding and Powerful Auto-Remediation with Varonis Data Security Platform
What do you like best about the product?
Setup and onboarding was very easy. What makes the Varonis Data Security Platform a standout is its shift from simply "alerting" you about problems to actually fixing them automatically. While many security tools bury you in logs, Varonis focuses on reducing your "blast radius" by reducing the amount of damage an attacker could do with a single compromised account. The most impactful part of Varonis is its ability to automatically remediate over-exposed data. It does this by automatically identifying data with PII, PCI, HIPAA and other types of data. Varonis also acts like a home security system for your data. It builds a "baseline" of normal behavior for every user and it can easily identify anomalous behavior.
What do you dislike about the product?
Like any new product, learning the rules and terminology needed to make customization work can take some time. Luckily, Varonis is good about bringing in an engineer if you get stuck and need extra help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Varonis has helped us address uncontrolled data growth and reduce exposure, especially in hybrid cloud environments where sensitive information can easily “leak” into places it shouldn’t be.
Great Data Discovery Platform with a Powerful UBA Engine
What do you like best about the product?
I use Varonis Data Security Platform for Data Discovery and User Behavior Analytics. It helps shape and build the backbone of our Data Management program. The User Behavior Analytics (UBA) engine is a standout feature that other platforms don't really offer. It allows for powerful automations and provides insights into the traffic that is moving. The UBA engine fits seamlessly into the product and helps in a number of areas. I was particularly impressed with the UBA engine being used in the automations, to gather analytics on users who are using directories and being able to lock it down to them.
What do you dislike about the product?
I do wish that some automated remediation options were stronger, being able to move files from email to a secured location being a key point. Automations to move files from email to a secured location, delete or move old stale data, remove sensitive data from the deleted items folder or the sent items folder in the mail etc.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Varonis Data Security Platform helps shape our Data Management program and provides important logs and alerts on our infrastructure. Its UBA engine offers powerful automation and insights into user traffic.
