Powerful and capable but not user friendly.
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is a very capable platform but not easy for the average user to navigate. Difficult to distill data, even though the software has tons of potential and capabilities.
What do you dislike about the product?
Hard to use, not intuitive for most users.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Data collection and analysis of coverage

What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is great! I run the social media for my company and it really helps keep me organized, as well as create monthly reports, stay up-to-date on what news outlets have mentioned my company, as well as reply to messages on all of our social media platforms from our customers.
What do you dislike about the product?
Due to some API issues lately, there hasn't been as much that I can do with Instagram, especially with listening and replying to comments. I understand that this is not primarily Meltwater's fault though, and more of a privacy issue with Instagram.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
It is easy to connect with our customers on social media, as well as find content to post.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's a bit pricy - but the customer service is great and it's an easy tool to use!

There are a lot of different ways you can organize the data but there are always missing gaps
What do you dislike about the product?
There are always glitches, missing data or simply won't load. The customer service that they will fix something but really it takes weeks and you basically have to put a fire under their butt in order to get them to do anything.
The functions are not customizable so a lot of times the way that the functions are presented they are not in line with your business or what you need. Every time a social network's API changes the whole system is messed up for the next few days

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Social listening and pulling as much data about a particular topic to see when it was mentioned. To respond to people in one platform rather than bouncing to varies systems. But often times you had to go to the Social Network anyways because Sysmos wasn't working right
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't. I'm not familiar with all of the other players in the space, but this product was such a headache. Avoid at all costs

What do you like best about the product?
First off, for new users, the customer service is great. Meltwater can be intimidating at first because it is full of capabilities, so the customer service were extremely helpful in using the platform to its potential. Furthermore, researching specific media outlets and professionals with instant access saves time and money. Then I factor in its media lists and comprehensive news monitoring and reporting quickly became indispensable tools.
What do you dislike about the product?
The platform can be complex for first time, or less tech savvy users. This can be a frustrating drawback to Meltwater without proper training.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Whether I am identifying targeted areas for news or press release distribution that I normally could not access without Meltwater, finding relevant media contacts I could never find, or just being an all around time saver that allows me to focus on higher level tasks, Meltwater is a program I recommend.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure that you have someone walk you through how to use Meltwater, be that a colleague or a YouTube video. Don't just jump right in using it on the job.

Meltwater is user-friendly and allows you to personalize your dashboard to include only what you want to see - sentiment included!

Huge improvements have been made over the years to include all media mentions, but for some reason, some can still be missed.

Now the program includes social media monitoring, which is awesome.
Decent Software
What do you like best about the product?
Meltwater is very user friendly, it's easy to maneuver and they have great customer service.
What do you dislike about the product?
Occasional glitches where tests do not send.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to send out press releases far and wide and can use the analytics to determine their reach.

Extremely user friendly and easy to navigate!

There was not really anything about this product that I didn't like. It did take a few days for me to get used to using it, but like i said above, it is very user friendly.

This product made it very easy to track the progress our clients were making.
Customer Service is the Key
What do you like best about the product?
I appreciate the customer service I receive from Meltwater. Any question I have is resolved within that day, and my issues are many times "user error" or simply me not knowing how to fully access the capabilities. Meltwater is a powerful tool, and I could not survive without it. My bosses are looking to me to be able to target a specific audience within a moment's notice. It also helps me with monitoring and reporting the coverage we receive.
What do you dislike about the product?
I sometimes feel the platform has been so "easy" it is "hard." So, I have my team of students help me navigate it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are able to send out our news to very specific georgraphic areas. I also am able to find contacts of many high profile media people whenever I need to. This keeps my process moving on without slowing me down.
