Building a Second Brain: How Notion Reduces Information Overload

  • January 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Notion has become our single source of truth. It allows me to centralize all our documentation, SOPs, and project notes in one place, replacing scattered Google Docs and spreadsheets. I love the hierarchical structure (nested pages) which makes it easy to drill down into topics without clutter.
What do you dislike about the product?
It has a steep learning curve for new team members. Because it is so flexible, it can be overwhelming for people who are used to standard document editors. It takes time to train the team on how to use our templates and databases correctly so things don't get messy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion has become my “second brain,” helping me manage information overload. I use it to capture synthesized ideas, research papers, and important follow-ups in one well-organized system. In particular, using Notion AI and other frontier models to summarize and process this information ahead of time has been a game-changer. It has noticeably reduced my cognitive load, because I no longer feel like I need to keep everything in my head. The ability to quickly search, revisit, and review my notes also helps ensure that no valuable insight gets lost.

Simple, Better Docs Than Confluence—But AI Responses Are Inaccurate

  • January 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Documentation experience and simplicity is better than other tools I've used.
Specially moving away from Confluence was a winner.
What do you dislike about the product?
AI is very poor. The responses are extremely inaccurate, and of low value. Typically I access it through Claude code now and let it gauge and understand the raw.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge case primarily, it works as a replacement of Confluence.

Simplistic Yet Robust for Team Collaboration

  • January 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I use Notion for notes, team agendas, team collaboration, planning, and tracking execution against my plans. I appreciate its simplicity; while there's a lot of complex and complicated tasks possible within Notion, the basic interface is very simple and resembles traditional notebooks and note-taking methods. The ability to easily share notes and collaborate with colleagues in a straightforward way is valuable. I like using the AI recorder/note taker in team meetings, as it effectively memorializes meetings, action items, and ensures nothing gets missed. It naturally integrates with our existing workflow by storing notes and recordings in the same place as our own notes and plans, keeping everything synced and organized. The initial setup of Notion was very easy, essentially ready out of the box. We connect it with Zoom for recording and transcribing our notes, which works well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Since Notion can do so much, I admittedly haven't explored all of the different things it potentially could do for me. I'm sure I'm missing out on potential value by simply not knowing what all it can do. I think just an easy way to explore different options would help.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion helps me share notes easily and collaborate simply. It organizes note-taking efficiently and, with the AI recorder, captures meeting details and action items, keeping everything synced and together.

Intuitive and Versatile, but Lacks Customization

  • January 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like Notion for both work and personal use. It really helps me with organization, transparency, collaboration, and documentation. What I like most about Notion is its ease of use. It's intuitive and uncomplicated, which makes it especially easy to use. I love that it can be used as broadly or deeply as I need. Plus, it integrates with all the tools I use every day, like Slack, Google, Fathom, and Claude. The initial setup was so easy for me, and I'm likely to recommend Notion to a friend or colleague.
What do you dislike about the product?
I wish I could visually zhuzh things up a bit more. It works for basics, but I'd like more color, font, and coordination options with less rigidity around page arrangements and structures.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion solves organization, transparency, collaboration, and documentation challenges for my work and personal use.

Versatile Workspace with Initial Learning Curve

  • January 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I am liking the all-in-one workspace that Notion provides. It handles documents, databases, and task management all without needing to switch applications, which I find very convenient. I also appreciate that it can be connected to multiple devices. As someone new to Notion, I like the widely available templates; they are quite helpful in learning and setting up the platform. I tried ClickUp before but did not like it too much and am liking Notion better.
What do you dislike about the product?
I've found that Notion's AI is somewhat lacking when it comes to knowledge of their own API, and it wasn't up to date with the most current version until I provided the documentation. Also, when I try to get it to output in code blocks, it gets confused by comment blocks and doesn't format the rest properly, which means I end up with normal text instead of a usable code block. As a newcomer, the initial setup was a bit overwhelming for me until I watched some YouTube tutorials and explored the template marketplace.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use Notion to organize projects, tasks, and daily operations. It's versatile for task management, creating client portals, and building workflows. I also use it for a wiki and idea database.

Easy project organization with linked pages, built-in AI, and easy Slack/Google/GitHub integrations

  • January 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The best things I like about Notion are that I can create multiple pages within one category that are related to a certain project. Notion also creates links to other related pages. It is easy to navigate and search. Having the built-in AI is very helpful in creating goals, timelines, and research. It is easy to add connectors and integrates well with Slack, Google products, and GitHub.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would like to see the use of built-in Agents down the road and more information on MCPs.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Notion has helped me create multiple organized projects for my Non-Profit Research company. As a solo founder who does almost everything, Notion has kept me on track and organized. The integrations are helpful because I work between multiple platforms. Notion helps me create a daily accomplishments report and what is next, or if something is missing/overlooked.

  • January 22, 2026
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like the flexibility of piecing together Notion elements and features into a system for start-ups and clients.
What do you dislike about the product?
For certain business objectives, I found it challenging to imagine the Notion structure and flow to accomplish it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
There are a number of problems Notion is solving for me: 1. Idea and knowledge capture allow me to consolidate my thoughts into an area to be organized later; 2 Notion Meetings frees me from note-taking and allows me to be more present in meetings, 3. Notion AI writing assistant helps me compose documents in areas of weakness, such as marketing and pitch-decks; and 4 Project management helps me delegate tasks more effectively with guest-clients.
