    Translation and Localization

cloud-based, user-friendly, and cost-effective

  • May 02, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The most helpful features of Memsource include Translation Memory, Machine Translation, Collaboration Tools, Customizable Workflows, and File Compatibility. Its upsides include being cloud-based, it can be accessed and used online, making it more convenient and accessible for users, as they can work from anywhere with an internet connection
What do you dislike about the product?
Performing QA in Memsource can be time-consuming since the page needs to be reloaded frequently, and not all errors are displayed at once. QA process can definitely be improved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving problems in the translation industry such as inefficient workflow, inconsistent translations, collaboration challenges, and file compatibility. It allows me to manage multiple projects simultaneously and streamline my workflows, which can save a significant amount of time.

Phrase has helped me be productive

  • April 27, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I had been using memsource for over ten years and continued with Phrase TMS, as a tool offered by agencies. It has enable me to be productive and deliver translations to my agency clients quickly. The TM enables me to reference quickly previous translations for the same company or within the sector. For similar "fuzzy" translations I can consistently set to low percentage (20-25% matches) and that allows me to refer to bits and pieces of previous translations. The MT function is an added bonus that it gives me a good example to work from, and it can be shut off if there are privacy concerns. Terms saved from previous translations ("yellow box") or from multiple use ("pink box") are also quite helpful. It is also user-friendly and I find it more comfortable in translations than MemoQ or Across.
What do you dislike about the product?
The biggest downside has been not able to revise previous translations to remove errors. This sometimes makes so-called 100% or "green box" segments not absolutely reliable. I also still get flagged in the QA report for unmatched "yellow box" terms when there are several possibilities. At least I am able to change the terms when I find that it either no longer applies or there are too many multiple possibiilities. The QA reports still have too many false positives, some which are not explained. In many cases it makes the reports ineffective for finding true errors. I am still eyeballing the segments myself.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
One benefit is that I can reference previous terms across a sector or industry. Over the twenty years I have been translating, several glossaries have been constructed and terms from those glossaries can be transferred to phrase for the my use and for the project managers to whom I report. Terms from others that have been stored on the database can also be copied to the glossaries. I cannot say that it is a problem phrase is solving, but it is a feature of Phrase that has benefited me very much. Otherwise, I cannot comment on Phrase TMS as the biggest problem I have with it is the false positives on the QA reports and that might be a case of trying to cover as many potential errors as possible. One definite problem is the failure to recognize the difference in capitalization rules between German and English, where there are flags for mismatched capitalization which are not at all mismatched because of the difference. In general, the source and target segments in German and English does not take word order rules into consideration, but I see that in the majority of CAT tools.

    Computer Software

Easy to Use But Missing Key Functionality

  • April 27, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Phrase is easy to use and navigation through the website is easy as well.
What do you dislike about the product?
Phase lacks automated validation mapping between 2 similar languages, such as Chinese Simplified and Chinese Traditional. These two languages can already be automatically mapped using most translating software, but this does not appear to be the case in Phrase. It also only learns over time with about 70% accuracy.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Phrase allows us to perform translation validations within our software. The benefits are that using Phrase whlie having knowledge of the software is better than using just ML or Google translate.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is a very easy to use tool with simple visuals and settings to streamline translation work.
What do you dislike about the product?
I would love for term bases to better identify terms, since they identify partial terms as glossary terms and this flags false positives during QA step.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Easy management

It simplifies the localization process, integrates rich support for all types of documents, and provides a comprehensive and scalable process system.
Allows everyone in the localization process to work in one place without the need for any additional software installation

Some of the areas for improvement in the localization process reported by the customer were not much improved.

Probably the best online translation tool

  • April 07, 2023
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Practically all the features of an advanced desktop translator tool on an online translation environment. Excellent filtering and sorting functions.
What do you dislike about the product?
As all online tools, it depends on the quality of your connection, but it is generally fast and responsive. Better search and replace functions (with wildcards).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
As a staff translator, all online tools somehow _add_ to my problems, because they are generally considerably worse than their desktop counterparts, but Phrase is the least aggravating of them all.
