Easy setup, great developer experience and fantastic customer support

What do you like best about the product?
The UI is clean and easy to understand.
The Figma plugin allowed our design team to streamline the i18n process of our products.
The option of buying professional human translations through the platform also saved us a lot of time, the price per word is great, the turnover was really fast and the resulting translations have a good quality.
Customer support replied to our issues in less than an hour (in summer) and managed to solve our pain points super fast.
What do you dislike about the product?
The Figma plugin is still very new and a bit rough around the edges, but Phrase moves fast and I'm sure they will polish it soon!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are translating digital products from Spanish to French & English. Phrase saved us weeks of translation & management.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Just go for it!

Perfect integration towards software developers

  • July 13, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
By using Phrase the developers get more time for developing instead of managing translations. And because of the integration with translation agencies it is made very much easier to get the translations done. No more hassle with exporting and importing translations.

Because Phrase has such an extended API and own CLI, we could easily integrate Phrase into our own developing environment without the need of manual labor.
What do you dislike about the product?
We don't yet have found any because we just starting using Phrase on a small scale.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The way our developers are working has totally been changed. Al they have to do with translations is to just commit/upload the translation file to our Git repository(cloud) and that's it. That is because the other actions could be automated. This saves time of the developers working on translation files.

Besides that, the way we get strings translated also changed. Instead of exporting our files to send over to an external translation agency, we now just use the integrated option provided by Phrase.

very handy, easy to use localization tool. thumbs up

What do you like best about the product?
it's easy to use, convenient and reliable.
What do you dislike about the product?
We had to setup a service that retrieves the latest localization strings rather than allowing each frontend to directly contact phrase to do so.
Since these calls could have been numerous, phrase recommended to detach these calls.
That was not much effort so my complaint is actually just wining on a very high level ;)
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Problems: none.
Benefits: translation glossary, easy to use interface, branches allow for approval of text updates on dev stage prior to merging with prod. Works fine with additional backend service for retrieval of localization files (see dislike).
Recommendations to others considering the product:
try it, it's definitely worth it.

Great service to use with React.js and i18next with reliable support

What do you like best about the product?
I'm a frontend developer in Nielsen and my task was to complete PoC for long term implementation of translation management service. The goal was to make the application development process resilient, reliable, and faster regarding internationalization. The PoC was to check if we can integrate design, development, and translation in in-context editor performed by local teams. Our development process was based on:
- Figma for design
- React.js + i18next for development
I have investigated the market and selected only two vendors for further experimental development according to the required functionalities they were offering.

We successfully tested the Phrase's solutions:
- Figma plugin
- In-context editor
- CLI tool
- machine translations
- screenshots

These are the key qualities that I would like to emphasize:
- very friendly and helpful team
- long testing period allowing to perform full implementation PoC
- technical support with reliable and predictable feature/issue implementation time estimation
- great integration support for React with i18next
- classic and easy to navigate service interface
- well developed Figma plugin
- super easy in-context editor integration (after the latest update)
- CLI tool that is fully configurable by a config file

Good job Guys!
What do you dislike about the product?
- For large teams, the price can be overwhelming.
- GitLab integration failed with time out error for an account with access to thousands of repositories
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
- A reliable design process that allows previewing developed view in over 20 languages for now
- Translation keys are managed on the design stage - no need to involve developers into the translation process
- Shortened translation process - Local teams involved in the translation process directly on a machine-translated webpage

Very Useful Product with Great Support

  • July 08, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This program gives you the ability to translate vast quantities of phrases in a very short amount of time. I love the autopilot feature to help prevent translating each phrase individually. I also reached out to the support team at one point and heard back within the day and they were very helpful and thorough with their explanations.
What do you dislike about the product?
When importing words into phrase to be automatically translated, the formatting is a little bit particular and I ran into some trouble which ate up some time to figure out. Now that I understand the exact formatting, the issue is not as relevant.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Working on translating a website to other languages to appeal to more users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Don't be afraid to contact support as they were really helpful to me.

Intuitive UI and lots of functionality!
Best support so far.
Each time I approach with some usage issues, I get real solutions!
What do you dislike about the product?
Probably an integrated AI would benefit the PhraseApp.
Like once you translate the project in Android it will make all the necessary translations into iOS, taking into account all the platform differences
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
a lot of translations are being automated or some localization jobs can be delegated with this online tool
Recommendations to others considering the product:
at least it suits us, which probably will suit companies like ours

It's so intuitive and easy to use when you get the hang of it. The interface is so clear and easy to use, it supports multiple doc formats. You can upload all your keys in less than a minute. What do you dislike about the product?
The help section could be more helpful, I sometimes struggle to find answer to certain questions.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Our process for updating information in our app is fast, smooth and dynamic.

Easy understanding of documentation with phrase

  • June 29, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It has provided me ease to connect with my clients across the world not only I am capable of translating my necessary information, it may be related to important notifications and my business projects, but it is also based on every day important alerts from my clients. Moreover, we can translate the comments while we are chatting with one another, Further Phrase keeps the record of our history and whenever required we can find the previous translation, thus our report generation has become quite easy.
What do you dislike about the product?
This tool is limited in its operation, I can only have my context being translated. I wish there could be some other amazing features like translation of scanned documents. I usually come across this issue for which we are compelled to use other tools along with this. This consumes my time and money.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is very helping tool in terms of handling our many clients that belong to different regions of the world. It has helped me in understanding how to work in multi culture and now I can easily communicate and deliver what I actually want to say. Now I am at ease to discuss over business ideas.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
This is very helpful in terms of expanding the business and in handling numerous projects. I will surely recommend this tool to the business sector.

From the simplest to the most complex you want

  • June 23, 2020
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Easy solution that helps you to update all your texts in a mobile development, with a really easy and transparent solution for updating in run time. If you don't want to complicate yourself, just add the texts and download the files for all your platforms, and with few lines of code and some click you have new versions of your texts in all the devices without app updates.
If you want to get crazy and make jobs, reports, assisted translations, etc, for a more structured team you can also find that.

The simplicity for managing new versions via development and production keys, for the "over the air" translations ir pretty cool, and together with having different distributions in case you want to stop updating old version is also very helpful.

During my tests I had some issues and the technical service was very active helping me.
What do you dislike about the product?
I had some issues using the solution with the iOS simulator, not sure if because my environment or what, but like all the software solutions, may improve by the time.
With the web solution I also had issues losing translations. Where easy to detect but sometimes not that easy to understand.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
In a multi-platform, iOS and Android, mobile project, solutions like this help to minimise the headaches with the texts.
The possibility of changing a text on run time, without building again, minimise the complexity of your backend and the possible misspellings in production.
