Easy enough, anyone can use this

  • June 22, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like this product because it is really simple to understand and use. There really isn't much of an onboarding process and even a user with a very basic tech-knowledge could figure out how to make page, child pages and even use some of the add-ins like flow-charts that Confluence offers.
What do you dislike about the product?
It could serve to have additional formatting features to make the pages look more polished and professional. It would be nice to have scroll-able charts so things don't get cut off or squished. It would also be nice to do some in-line image location adjustment. Right now if you put an image in a Confluence page, it just creates a really large line if you keep the image in-line with your text. Text-wrapping, similar to Microsoft Word would be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence internally as a Wikipedia-esk site to house on-boarding instructions, information about client projects, and even SQL queries for quick data pulling.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Explain the hierarchy of child pages to a user before they start using Confluence. This will help to keep everything organized and easy to follow.

Confluence Used as an Internal Web Page

  • June 18, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence's ability to quickly build up a webpage, save changes, add in elements including images and graphs, schedules and more, makes for a good collaborative solution for a team in production. Confluenced can be integrated to JIRA, and Hipchat as well, so communication is all in one area. No coding is required, simply start typing away and uploading images to make a live database.
What do you dislike about the product?
There is a limit to the configuration options of where text or image boxes can be placed. There are pre formatted designs to choose from, which might not be exactly what you are looking for. Be default if Confluence is integrated into JIRA then you can spam your team members any and all updates that you make. I believe this setting can be adjust I just haven't found it yet.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Currently information about clients and their needs is spread across emails, documents, and other software, Confluence brings all this info into once place that I can send a link to a co worker. This way is a good way to see visually when the timeline is set for a project, and where everything they need is located .
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you can get the IT guy set up and hand some of the creative ability over to some right brained indivuduals, the potential of this software can really come together. Also for administrative, and management ideas, this software is another tool that is also sharable to the whole team to see.

Useful for sharing knowledge within an organization

  • June 14, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I really enjoy the macro functionality in Confluence. There is a ton of freedom when creating new content, whether that's individual pages or spaces.
What do you dislike about the product?
The search functionality could use some serious help. I rarely seem to find what I'm looking for unless I search for page titles specifically. Often, I'm searching by content within a page and have found this feature to be unreliable.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge sharing across an organization. Some benefits include segmenting knowledge by natural groupings within the org. How to guides are a breeze because of how flexible the customization within pages is.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Definitely explore the macros that are available, they've made a world of a difference in my documentation. Some favorites include markup, Gliffy diagrams, table of contents, charts, and Excel content.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
mostly documenting
Recommendations to others considering the product:
really depends on needs of the organization so evaluate thoroughly before investing.

Intuitive, easy-to-use product for content management

  • June 07, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
-Quick and simple to create wiki pages
-Easy editing and built-in, in-app editor tools to format and customize pages
-Navigation "tree" allows admins to structure content effectively
-Quick search functionality allows users to very efficiently find content they're looking for, and then narrow down by page type, date posted, etc.
-Easy to comment on pages and share editing responsibilities between users
-"Private" pages allow users to collaborate without adding unfinished or unnecessary content for all users to see
-Mobile app is available
-"Confluence Questions" is a brilliant community-driven solution to questions from users
What do you dislike about the product?
-I struggle a little bit with the more advanced editor tools, and would like some training videos to demonstrate those features.
-I wish there was the ability to allow our external end users (our clients) to access certain permission-based areas of the Confluence site, so that we could truly keep all information in one place.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
-As a software company, we can pool our knowledge and resources into one tool, where all users can access the same information. This helps to promote knowledge sharing and enhance training and documentation.
