Convenient Joint Wiki Space

  • November 01, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
It's very convenient having a wiki space that is easy to share with other employees and tied to our ticketing system (Jira).
What do you dislike about the product?
My biggest issue with Confluence is that it doesn't have a nice merge option, if people edit the page at the same time. It warns you, but if the second person saves, it will overwrite the first person's changes. It would be great if it offered some sort of merge system when the second person saved.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Jira/Confluence/FishEye for integrated work between tickets, wiki, and code reviews. It's handy having them all linked.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
If you frequently need multiple people editing documentation at once, this may not be the tool for you, as it doesn't support merging. (It does show history though, so it's not too tough to retrieve what you lost.) However, otherwise, it's a very handy tool and the integration with other software is very convenient.

A Great Online tool for gathering and sharing information for clients and co-workers

  • November 01, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I love all of the different features and styles of information you can gather, link, tag and share with all relevant parties.
What do you dislike about the product?
I find the editing features a bit awkward and limited. If you are used to using a document software Confluence will frustrate you a bit with its limitations.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence has allowed me to access and track all of my work projects, share those that are relevant to co-workers, call out for support on issues and maintain my own personal space for future work to do.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It offers a great way of organizing files, sharing work with co-workers but is a bit limited in its options.

Good riddance Asana

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to easily find the content needed. Additionally, the ability to customize it to your liking. This is important specifically because I found our previous software wasn't conducive to the type of information we were trying to hold.
What do you dislike about the product?
That I have to scroll to the top of the page to get into edit mode and to save when done editing. Initially I found it was difficult to find the information I needed but once realizing you can customize pages to your liking everything became simpler and much easier to use.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Staying connected on projects so that we're all aware of the status and next steps to complete.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
That really anything can be any way you would like it. If you don't like the layout of a page...change it. If you don't like where something lives...change it. It's very customizable which is crucial to me.

Interesting ecosystem but with some flaws in advanced features

  • October 31, 2016

What do you like best about the product?
easy to use, easy to customise.
We can easily create pages with different content, easily re organise content within pages and reorganise pages within a space.
What do you dislike about the product?
Major features are missing for tables and calculations.
It is not possible to do a simple sum with what is being given without having to purchase expensive addons that will increase the loading of the page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Creating company wiki and documentations

Great way to capture and share live knowledge for your organization

  • October 29, 2016
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Very flexible for a wiki in that you can easily move pages around, the editor is rich and simple, and cloud option makes it easy to bring into your organization. Anyone can update, search is great, edit tracking is great, you can have as much or as little organization as you like.
What do you dislike about the product?
While there is some support for MS Office and Google Docs it's somewhat klunky. The plug-in architecture is good but unfortunately most of the add-ons available are for the on-prem version, not the cloud version.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
I use it as a company Knowledgebase, far more effective than a bunch of Google Docs. Anyone can find the info they need to do their jobs, and keep it up to date. Also using as an Intranet, works great for that. We are considering exposing a space to the public for a customer-facing knowledgebase or product FAQs.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Avoid dumping your old MS-Office documents on Confluence if you can (it's tempting since Confluence can index it all so you can search for it later). But it's better if you can copy/paste those document into actual Confluence pages - that way they'll be easier to maintain down the road.

Also, take the time to learn Confluence's macros and set up templates for the types of information you commonly store there. For example Confluence has a nice TOC macro that enables you to add a nice way to navigate long pages.
