The place to store everything- and it's searchable, too!

  • January 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like that I can make pages for reference and also that it's searchable, and I can see edit history.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes, I find myself lost in hierarchy of pages (child pages, master pages, etc) so perhaps better organization of pages could be useful
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Solving the need to have documentation in a secure spot for all employees to access.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
consider number of users you will have and how you will use it. perhaps an internal policy of what goes on confluence would be a good guide for determining how organized it can be! I also love that it can be "linked' to JIRA so that when I am referencing a project, I can link the appropriate JIRA tickets to the page and it will take you there when you click on the link. I think that the editing features could be better, but I tend to just do things in Word and then copy paste.

Best tool for content collaboration

  • January 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
One of the best features of Confluence is how easy it is to create and distribute content. Pretty much anyone in our team is able to generate pages to share content using nice charts, tables and ready-to-use widgets. Another great thing is the tight integration with Jira.
What do you dislike about the product?
One of the things I don't like about Confluence is the difficulty to organise and navigate through existing pages. And another snag is the steep pricing curve for large number of customers.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Confluence is the key tool to generate, store and share content for most of our projects. For me, the key benefit is: easy-to-use and powerful collaboration space for anyone to build and document pretty much anything in our company.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
You can try for free before buying to see if it's suitable for you.

Wiki like no other

What do you like best about the product?
The overall experience of navigating through each page of different projects.
The social like collaboration experience of people liking & commenting on each others created content/pages is something we love, since its a direct acknowledgement from them that they have viewed it.
Notifications are a great way to help people who are always on the go to keep a check on their progress, especially when they send it in emails, its better for us to just read and mark them delete.
What do you dislike about the product?
There really is nothing to dislike about their product, its continuos evaluation is headed in the right direction.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
The problem of on boarding a new hire on a project. This is a one stop place for him/her to know what all is going on in a particular project to the higher level progress of the company. Information about all the resources can be accessed from here. This is very beneficial to our company, especially since we are a startup & we don't have much downtime to explain the new hires.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
They have solid integrations & a great customer support team. You shouldn't miss it.

Great solution for collaboration

  • January 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Confluence was quick to deploy for collaboration between various vendors. it is quite secure so it allows us to collaborate with people and vendors outside of our employee base.
What do you dislike about the product?
the UI is a bit clunky but overall its easy to work with.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We wanted a solution that was independent of our IT process and was in the cloud. this allowed us to deploy it faster and more secure, than if created a tool that was in house.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
if your IT process is too slow or difficult to work with, consider Confluence.

Review on Confluence

  • January 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Wiki or Confluence acts like a shared folder for depository of documents, processes and references. The whole organization can access, add and edit on the entries for a collaborative effort. It works well for us as there are remote staff in the team that needs guidance from time to time and Confluence is the right venue for that.
What do you dislike about the product?
What I dislike is that there are limited formatting options. Tables move and column width cannot be fixed. Also, when you export to a word file, the table loses its lines.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Central depository of references. It also seem to act like a succession guide for newcomers. It is beneficial for us to use Confluence because there are remote staff that can access documents through this platform.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend the use of Confluence for organizations that have remote staff. Also, a regular review on the items that are inputted because over time, there are changes and although it is free access to all team members, when there is no police, nobody seems to care.

Review of Confluence for an Engineering Wiki

  • January 25, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to customize the layout of each page, as well as the search feature are huge benefits from some of the other wiki software that we've used. In addition, we use many other atlassian products, and the integration between Confluence and these other products is very helpful.
What do you dislike about the product?
The tool does not force consistency in formatting and style between internal pages. This puts a huge burden on the owner of the pages to handle consistency issues on their own. This has not worked for our company, especially with personnel turnover. I would also say that there could be deeper integration with JIRA. One of the big recommendations for new engineers is that they search for information in both confluence and JIRA. This isn't a huge deal, but it would be more intuitive to only search in a single place. Furthermore, unfortunately, code comments tend to be the best source of documentation for old code. Therefore, deeper integration with Fisheye could also be helpful.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We're trying to solve the issue of knowledge availability. We have many employees that have many many years of domain knowledge. We've been slowly moving knowledge out of their heads, and into the wiki. This help new hires build their own knowledge, and find answers on their own.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
I would recommend switching to confluence if you already use other Atlassian products, the integration with other products is hugely helpful.
