Great way to build a knowledge base

  • January 27, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
This is a great way to communicate across teams, and to build a long lasting knowledge database that can be used for learning/sharing.
What do you dislike about the product?
The learning curve on this product can be a bit steep, but the positive of that is that it allows for many different features.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are using this to build our knowledge base related to team projects and company wide initiatives.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Like I said, the learning curve really is steep, but once you spend time getting familiar with the interface it is not an issue.

What do you like best about the product?
Online tutorials were quite useful when I came onboard to my current project.
What do you dislike about the product?
No complaints other than the videos can't be accessed on site due to the nature of the environment where I work.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Repository to share with colleagues

Confluence

What do you like best about the product?
It is easy to update and edit existing pages so the collaboration is pretty good. You can also tab and favorite items.
What do you dislike about the product?
If you change a title it changes the URL so saved links are easily broken. Also the search is not the greatest, I always seem to find I need to sort through lots and lots of results and rarely find what I want.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This is a place for engineering documentation and test cases. They can then share these with the support team so we have current documentation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
make sure you take the time to plan how you want to implement this. I think it could be a great tool, but it needs to be planned and administered or it will become a morass of random documents.

A great tool for product knowledge, and long term information reference

  • January 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Page editing is straightforward and simple to do, allowing you to create efficient and professional looking resource pages. Resources can be structured in a way that makes them easy to find using sidebars and the product is reliable and consistent in its performance.
What do you dislike about the product?
It can feel cumbersome at times when you need to do more regular updates, and other more agile products based around activity feeds may be more suited to the task of sharing the sort of day to day updates a department might want to do.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge base storage, daily updates, inter department communication

After using several other systems, such as Microsoft SharePoint, we desperately needed something more user-friendly. The Confluence team have manage to provide a powerful, flexible, scalable tool that doesn't require a month of study to use.
What do you dislike about the product?
No complaints at this point. Confluence is regularly updated with new features and UI improvements.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Communication across a company of 150+ employees is a challenge. Confluence enables creative collaboration and documentation in a structure that's flexible and just makes sense.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Given the range of products from Atlassian that integrate with Confluence, it's a no-brainer.

  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
The ability to store relative information in an easy to find format. The integration with Jira is also incredibly helpful. I am able to coordinate across teams with all relevant information and updates without things getting lost in the shuffle.
What do you dislike about the product?
Sometimes it is very hard to easy create new pages in their wiki. The constant email updates of every little change can be overwhelming too.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Managing trackable issues as well as maintaining a database of easy to find information to solve problems. Ability to communicate across teams and store all relevant information in tasks and tickets helps minimize mistakes and maximize productivity.

Confluence has Easy to use interface that makes our Knowledge base clear and sharp

  • January 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
I like easy navigation, draft and live options, the possibility to export files.
What do you dislike about the product?
Export does not always work well, especially with Word. Also using look and feel to prepare it for PDF export is very confusing and not well explained. I would prefer more text design options when creating a new page.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We are an agile team, using Confulence for our documentation. It serves great us and our costumers who we give access to.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Usage is easy and clear. Use their documentation and support for everything that you need.

Not bad - has potential

  • January 26, 2017
  • Review provided by G2

What do you like best about the product?
Collaboration is simple, the marketplace has a wide array of (overpriced but functional) addons, and Atlassian seems responsive to feature requests.
What do you dislike about the product?
Addons can be very expensive. Addon vendors like to convert free addons to paid products after they achieve critical acceptance. Atlassian is sometimes very, very slow to fix bugs and issues (sometimes letting them languish for years).
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use Confluence to produce effective documentation.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
It's not cheap, but it seems to be reasonably effective.
