WIKI for WORK
What do you like best about the product?
In the past, I've used MediaWiki for use as an internal knowledgebase / content management system. If you haven't used a wiki for something like this, you should.
However, recently looking for solutions are my employer, I found that we had Confluence and other Atlassian products. We had a few employees considering leaving, and there was a large set of institutional knowledge that would have gone with them so I suggested we start using this.
The greatest thing is that there are tons of templates that are all work / institutional related. If I want to set up meeting notes, I select this. If I want a calendaring system for a SPECIFIC project, there is a template for this.

What do you dislike about the product?
I still find it difficult to set up permissions! This may be more a result of our Windows Authentication scheme! And I'm on a Mac! I am not the administrator so I don't know...just an end user!
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge base and capturing of institutional knowedge. In a searchable system. When I came into my position, there were excel file with checklists, and word documents with notes, and emails that had pertinent information. And then Win.DAT archives of emails saved to file servers. THREE different file servers.
I prefer having all my notes in a searchable format where one can be linked to another to another. Everything easy to find, and revisions to documents are as easy as looking at history. Beyond this, collaborative notes where you can identify the individual collaborators.

Confluence Review
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence allows for a good corporate sharing tool. You can set up a lot of different pages, some can be private while others are public. You can also push updates out.
What do you dislike about the product?
The UI/UX is outdated. It is not the easiest to navigate and updating pages can be tricky.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
This system acts as our intranet

Confluence Review
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is a tool which is used to share the knowledge within the company/departments and where you can build your database of information about procedures and best practices (for example).
What do you dislike about the product?
At the moment the tool is performing very well in our organisation that there not major dislikes for it.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Before we used to have documents about the processes and best practices spread out in folders around the servers. To access this files was very difficult and they could not be accessed by two people at the same time. Was also very difficult to inform all your colleagues about any changes in any of the files.
Document Sharing and Management without Sharepoint Hassles
What do you like best about the product?
It's significantly easier to use than Sharepoint. The AD permissions are easier to manage than a non-AD integrated platform. Space management and user management are easy and granular. Having used Sharepoint in the past, and having to have tried to be the admin without training was nearly impossible. With Confluence, it's easy to migrate from user to Admin then release Admin when you're done with it, preventing you from accidentally deleting or moving something.
What do you dislike about the product?
Lack of HTML5 support is the biggest. Sometimes the documents don't display properly inside the product, but download fine. Excel editing is nearly impossible inside Confluence, but word documents seem to be fine.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
Knowledge sharing; document sharing; forms and how-to repository. External sharing with non-domain users through an LDAP portal for sales partners and international non-domain users.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Pricing is great, performance is never and issue and the software is relatively easy to use and administer.
Confluence is a LifeSaver
What do you like best about the product?
Confluence is where we store all of our documents. We used to use Sharepoint, but we found it slow and cumbersome. Confluence is fully integrated with Jira. We can add gadgets to confluence to display Jira issues. This is especially nice for our sprint retrospectives since we can show all of the items completed and those that were not completed. Confluence is very fast and flexible.
What do you dislike about the product?
Confluence is very flexible and this sometimes leads to poor organization. This is a problem on our end, but sometimes it is hard to find the specific page you are looking for.
What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?
We use confluence to store any information relating to our software development or business processes. We can have all of our information in one large searchable location. It is great.
Recommendations to others considering the product:
Make sure you set up places for documents. The better organized Confluence is the better it will support your company.
